Not a recipe per se, but a word about pastas
Quote from Bruce on June 13, 2026, 1:50 pmI saw a video on YouTube, from this guy who eats more naturally, and lost a lot of weight.
In one of his videos he was talking about pasta and how we should all stay away from fortified pastas (and anything really). I didn't give it much thought until I got toxic. I can't be sure the regular pasta you see in the supermarket have vA, but why chance it.
I have been buying the 'cheap' pastas now that I see at Aldi and the Hispanic markets that come in the little black and yellow packets. I don't even know the brand, but they are not fortified.
This vA toxicity has me reading labels like crazy.

Quote from Navid on June 14, 2026, 3:18 pmI'm not sure if you're in the US, but my understanding is that in the US if a food is fortified with vitamin A, it's legally required to specify that on the label.
E.g. with low fat milk if it's vitamin A fortified, you will typically see it both in the ingredients, and in the nutrition facts. See below image for an example, using the label from Simple Truth Organic 1% milk.

Quote from Ourania on June 16, 2026, 2:06 amReal pasta is perfectly white. It is made from flour, salt and water. If it is slightly yellow, organic or not, it means there is beta carotene added, to make it more appealing to the eye, I suppose most people in the world have never seen real pasta, including many Italians!
We all know what beta carotene does!
