Omega 3 supplementation: to be avoided at all cost

I have always read flax is a phytoestrogen. Should we even be concerned of this?
I found this one that might help you figure out the yogurt question. I'm consuming very little retinol, but not zero, so I have some leeway that you might not.
The back of my Siggi's container says Zero Total Fat, Zero Saturated Fat, Zero Trans Fat. That's where I think most of the retinol would be residing, but I think Grant mentioned that casein can be a carrier and the paper says the casein micelles have a porous structure - so maybe that's where some retinol could convey. The paper also notes that casein is only 2.6% of the milk content, but when the water portion of milk is subtracted (87.3%), that casein, as a relative percentage of the remaining solids, looks more significant. I'll try my UV Leak Detection Kit on some Siggi's tonight and see if I can detect any fluorescence.

I think he might have gotten it right with the omegas but his semi keto diet is way off the mark. He consumes tons of saturated a lot of them loaded with A. Keto people always age horrible.

Quote from Liz on January 28, 2019, 10:28 pmQuote from Guest on January 28, 2019, 11:29 amHi John- that's actually the best way to use it. The ingredients look very promising but the ratio are wrong. If for each tsp of UDO you take 2-3 tsp of sunflower oil then you would be good.
I heard Peskin in a podcast and someone asked him about UDO. Peskin, in usual fashion, was so fiery said that UDO knows better and the ratio is completely garbage. He got so mad lol. Let's not forget that Peskin of course has vetted interest doing consulting and probably getting a cut from companies like YES and oxygen4life ( you can check those products as well). He is fully upfront about it thought , mentions it every interview even without being prompted. I do believe him about the ratio as the body is mostly omega 6 and I read plenty of other sources confirming it but they all assume the American diet covers that part which is why omega 3 is more marketable. I think UDO has this in mind, it's very hard to market an omega 6 dominant product now.
I had cut all nuts and seeds from my diet last year when my skin problems started. My diet was so devoid of oil, it only contained saturated fats. Even fruits provide omega 6s but I had stopped those as well. I am thinking now that might be more of a factor than vitamin A seeing how omega 6 defiency causes dry skin and eczema. Of course I am keeping low VA
Liz- that sounds like a balanced approach. I truly believe the flora products are high quality I have a friend who swears by them and they are highly recommended at the health store I shop at. I think if you add extra 6 from your diet you will be fine. Maybe take in an extra tsp of sunflower to be sure
Ron
Thanks Ron 🙂 we'll see how it goes.
Regarding o6 deficiency causing eczema, a few years back this fitness profile Pauline Nordin suffered from very bad eczema especially when sweating. She went to doctors and tried "everything" but nothing worked. One day a guy on social media tells her to supplement arachidonic acid (I believe it was) which is an o6 fatty acid. She did and her eczema went away.
This girl lives off vegetables. I mean 10 lbs a day and more. From what I undetstand her fat sources for years has been wild salmon, tiny amounts of olive oil and 100% dark chocolate. And "fat days" are like one day a week so she has had an extremely low intake of essential fats for many years. She has been bashing o6 just like everyone else. But funny enough o6 was just what she needed, and not even big ammounts either but a few capsules over a period of time. I dont know if she stopped taking it.

Guest, (per your request) here's what I plan to try when the latter two oils arrive:
Baja Precious Sunflower Oil- unrefined, cold pressed, organic
Flax Seed Oil-organic, unrefined, cold pressed, by H&B Oils Center
Bertolli Olive Oil- extra light tasting (refined, not organic,
not cold pressed)
I ordered the first two oils online. The OL was found locally.
Since I've not tried the first two oils, I can't expound on them; the OL, though not the best quality of the oils, is very palatable. I use it in food prep daily.

That’s the same olive oil I use. I thought about buying the organic version once I’m done with my current bottle.

Quote from somuch4food on February 14, 2019, 12:11 pmBEWARE OF FLAXSEED OIL
As I was reviewing the lutein free diet, I saw that flaxseed oil is not recommended. It contains 225mcg/15 ml of lutein (Source: https://www.jstage.jst.go.jp/article/jos/65/2/65_ess15243/_pdf)
That also explains my failed experiment with flax seeds.
Safflower and Evening Primrose oils are the ones recommended on the lutein free diet as a supplement a few times a week, specifically for their arachidonic acid content.
