Pasteurized Apple Juice
Quote from tim on September 30, 2019, 4:18 amQuote from salt on September 29, 2019, 3:39 amI disagree. You are just regurgitating Garret's unsubstantiated opinion. There are plenty of people who get VA symptoms from fatty meat and from apples too. If it can raise serum VA that means it's significant.
If you asked me rather than making an unsubstantiated assertion then you would understand that that is false.
There may be plenty of people that get some type of reaction to fatty meat and/or apples, that reaction may be VA related, those foods might speed up excretion but what they don't have is a significant amount of VA. Yet you are claiming that the VA in these foods is significant. All available data on VA content in these foods suggest it isn't.

What data are you talking about? There is no statistical data about what VA threshold VA toxic people react too. You're just stating your opinion and then saying "all the data shows this" but there is no data, you're just trying to make your opinion sound authoritative. It's funny that you project this accusation of making an unsubstantiated comments when that is exactly what you're doing.
The VA content of those foods is significant because it's causing a VA reaction in multiple people. It might not be significant to you, you might not react to it. As I said in my original post it may or may not have enough VA to cause issues for you.

Quote from lil chick on October 1, 2019, 3:10 pmIf I was vitamin-A deficient, I wouldn't be eating peeled apples to fix it! But I suppose that is the result of a lifetime of people telling me peeled apples don't have much vit A. I do have the "data" that the apples I buy and peel are white inside, and beta carotene is typically not white. I suppose given that all of this science about A is wrong... that idea could be wrong too! 🙂
I wanted to mention something, I don't really get a good "intuition" from grocery-store pasteurized apple juice! I have a bottle and have barely touched it. It's even organic.
I do, however, drive to the next town to get real, raw, unadulterated, old fashioned CIDER from an orchard that has an old-fashioned press. And I buy expensive apple pies made by human beings closer by. And I peel local apples and decorate my egg-white omelete breakfast plate. And I take Brag's raw vinegar.
Apple products really help my hot flashes. My health is over-all better with apples, than without.

Quote from who_am_i on October 5, 2019, 5:44 amI have been drinking (organic) pasteurized apple juice since the beginning, most of the time at least around one liter per day diluted in one liter of water. I cannot report any negative symptoms, I even consider it a very valuable supplement. Apple juice hydrates me, provides me with some additional calcium and other minerals and most importantly alkalizes my body which allows the body to detoxify himself faster. I also think it helped me getting rid of tons liver stones because of its malic acid content.

So how do you even know its the carotenoids that are causing these people to have issue with apples? Do you have any data on that? Most of the times it's the fructose that is getting blamed when people react bad to apples which most likely is just as short sighted too.
There are people who react badly to white rice too, which has no VA at all. People have damaged systems and are not able to process the most basic foods anymore, but this doesn't mean the food themselves are bad.
