@thomas What do you mean when you say you are sensitive to vA, i.e. what symptoms do you get when you eat high vA foods and which high vA foods are you eating?

Also, what is your diet history like? Taking 8000 IU of VA a day for four months does not seem that bad to be honest, especially for someone as young as you. If you do not mind providing some more information, people on the forum might be able to provide some suggestions for things to research related to your symptoms. For example, joint aches/pains can be related to iron issues or even Candida overgrowth. Have you ever had your iron levels checked or had digestive issues that may indicate a bacterial or yeast overgrowth?

Just some thoughts.

Sorry, I meant the VA capsules I took were 8000 IU. What brought me to toxicity was spirulina, sweet potatoes, 8000 IU VA pills, lots of eggs, spinach, and broccoli. My diet as a child included multi-vits every day, and tons of milk. Like I said, i naturally dislike foods with VA so i'd never eat greens as a child. Only did it recently for "health" since I was working out. Don't know if this helps but, I got my braces off. Had it the whole time during my high VA diet and during the detox.

Hi Thomas,

We're really close in age. That's interesting that you have experienced more injuries. I've experienced some minor injuries while on the diet. Wrist strain and back strain to the point where knots developed on my back. My wrist has mostly recovered but my muscle knots are still there and have been there for a few months. I think this has to do with the diet, but I'm not sure because I am also training more intensely than I have before. What injuries have you had?

I'm also interested in your progress thus far if you would like to share. What has improved for you? I also think you made a post on taking calcium while on this diet. How did that go?

Hey that's cool! 😛

I've only had a wrist and knee injury my whole life, and it happened during my detox. They're kinda getting better, but i'm stretching as much as I can.

I'll try to list off the symptoms I remember and how they are now

Poor memory -  I'm good 97% of the time, don't even think about it anymore

Poor vision in the dark/sensitivity to sun: Gone

Mood swings: don't think VA caused this, more like from me being very strict on my diet. Still recovering.

Dry scalp/hair shedding: Wayyyy thicker hair. Way. Still shedding an extra 50 or so hairs a day(on my head), and have excessive shedding all over my body. I'm hopeful this one will go away with time as my body adjusts to the VA

Swollen/red lips: yeah this was a weird one. It's completely gone. Might sound weird but I liked this symptom HAHA

Excess collagen: Gone

Dry/bloody knuckles: 90% gone.

Bloating: Yea this was one of my favorites to leave. Soon as I got off beef/rice/beans, the bloating went away.

Pale skin: This went away as I was on the diet but came back slightly, along with cold hands/feet.

Also should mention: As a child, specifically in 6th grade, I remember my eyes would randomly dry up and I'd start tearing up for NO reason. Not emotional at all just tearing from dry eyes. This was really weird but went away eventually. I'd beat anyone at a staring contest now lol

As for calcium, I stopped taking eggshells, and just relied on what Dr. Smith said. Went something like "You don't need much calcium as long as you have low VA and high Vitamin D". The calcium from my black beans was enough. Not recommending anyone to try this! I'm only 19 and am fairly healthy. So yeah, no calcium for almost a year. The almond milk I drink now has high calcium and no VA. Looked at the ingredients, and nothing to do with retinyl palmitate.
