Progress / Experiences with low vitamin A diet.

Page 1 of 3Next

Hi.

I think this whole thing could be a very important discovery and i'm keen to get a discussion going.

I've been experimenting with a low vitamin A diet for about 2.5 weeks and I wanted to share my experience so far - it's still very early days, obviously.

Things i've noticed:

- Increased appetite (i'm consuming about 300 more calories per day on average, but I haven't gained any weight)

- Skin seems to be less sensitive

- I've had a lot of headaches and have felt slightly vertiginous at times, although this seems to have abated more recently

I've been averaging (according to cronometer) between 150 - 400 iu / day (6-13% RDA) from 2900/3600 calories; mostly from the small amount of butter i've been using and then aggregated from the rest of my diet (mostly beef, white rice, black beans, oats, coconut products and small amounts of onion, mushrooms, peeled potato, cauliflower, grapes, raisins, peeled apples and bananas).

Would love to hear some other people's experiences with this.

Hi - I will be starting eliminating A today after reading half of Grant’s second book last night. I’ll keep in contact with results. I’m grateful to a YouTube comment or for posting a link to the book, and grateful to Grant for doing the research. I’m also just starting Dr Carolyn Dean’s ReMag - ReMyte - ReAlign protocol. I had a friend who drank himself to death in his late 30’s due to severe eczema that he must have had as a result of managing an all-you-can-eat fried food restaurant chain. We used lard in our deep fryers. He nearly lived in those restaurants and on the food. I think alcohol was the only way he could get to sleep. His whole body was rough and raw, from his neck to his ankles.

Not sure why I can’t log-in as “hillcountry” but Jetpack sees some conflict with my wordpress account. I registered here as well, but can’t seem to navigate the tech. I’ll just post as Guest and sign off as hillcountry for now.

I'm having technical trouble too.

Sorry about your friend.

I'm having good results toward eliminating A. The few times I've had some A due to unavoidable circumstances I definitely noticed a flare in symptoms for a couple days but otherwise inflammation is much lower after only a little more than 2 months.

Interested to hear your results.

I don't think i've noticed much of an effect on any symptoms, except possibly a reduced skin sensitivity. The only thing i've noticed is a voracious appetite. I mentioned in my original post (I was the O.P. but I realised it registered as 'guest') that I was eating up to 3600 kcal. Today i've eaten around 4500 - no joke. I've lost about 1KG since starting this thing. I'm 6ft5, 28yrs old and have an active job, so my energy requirement is high, but I was previously eating between 2200/3000kcal per day and was heavier.

I have been eating a huge amount of coconut products, and, contrary to Grant's experiences mentioned in his book, it doesn't seem to cause any problems. I have used Ghee as a replacement on several days, and have felt like my symptoms have been a little worse. It could just be coincidence though, it's hard to say.

I definitely am less inflamed over all. I don't have eczema. My official autoimmune disease is celiac but I've had signs/symptoms of Sjogrens and MS off and on for years. I gave up on the medical establishment for the most part about 5 years ago.

One thing that I told Grant about that might seem small is that I regained my finger prints. My finger print ridges have been atrophied for many years do to inflammation but at about a month into low/no vitamin A eating they started picking up again when I would scan them at work. I used to have to use ointment to amplify my prints so I could get into the locked medication dispenser. That's a small thing but it's nice to have an outward sign that my inflammation is reducing.

I donated blood today to see if that might help with the detox.

Excuse my misspelling. It should have read due to instead of do to. 🙂

Hi Bella,

Would you be okay with sharing what foods you were eating, including what fats you were using?

Yes, beef, bison, rice and rice products like noodles and bread, lemonade, Pepsi, coffee, gelatin, coconut oil, olive oil, black beans, pinto beans, great northern beans, tilapia, scallops, lobster, potatoes, cherry preserves and occasionally dark chocolate. Not everything is zero A but still pretty low and I can manage to eat with my family this way.

Ghee isn't working for me unf.
