Rachel's log

There's a lot of wisdom in that. Yes, women are there to reproduce, to have babies. My God, my mom was 23 when she had me. And you should see the family pictures. She's radiant with joy. There's this one picture where my dad is holding me, looking at me with this dreamy look, and my mom has her arm around my dad's shoulders and she's beaming at the camera.

Barbie and feminism are taking women away from their instincts to nurture and care, everything natural and instinctual is being questioned, so people are losing touch with what really matters in life. Modernism is one big ass fraud.

Besides, how many times have I made myself sicker when I was actually trying to make myself well? Following this system or that school of thought has never really helped. And one thing this myopic view of nutrition never takes into account: Food is also a very easy source of pleasure. And as you suggest with this anecdote of the lady who started working in the restaurant, pleasure itself can be a source of health.

Guys, we have derailed Rachel’s thread, and I feel responsible! Sorry about that, Rachel. (Not tagging, because she said she was avoiding forums the the moment.)

Also, I’m not sure politics is the most considerate direction of conversation to take her log, either, especially after she said this space was stressful for her. 😅 Evolutionarily, EVERYONE has the the instinct to reproduce (and that can be a beautiful thing, as Christian shared about his own family), but there have always been people for whom that simply wasn’t the right fit (e.g. those who followed the monastic path, or devoted themselves wholly to the arts or sciences or some other pursuit, or just weren’t interested in marriage, or who were too sickly, and so on and so on).

“I totally get that these diseases aren't in our minds, and it makes me mad when people suggest it.”

And you didn’t imply you felt otherwise, @lil-chick. My comment about hypochondria was directed towards my own internalized ableism, which may not have been clear, sorry. And yes, I can see how certain conditions—Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Social Anxiety Disorder, and Orthorexia—which are known to respond to exposure therapy, could resolve after suitable lifestyle changes like that, especially if they weren’t severe cases.
