Salt

PreviousPage 2 of 4Next

@rockarolla  you have a lot of interesting and extravagant ideas, but with salt it's much more simple. People crave salt because their adrenals struggle keep pumping aldosterone. So the body can't retain any sodium therefore maintain some electrolyte balance.. My blood pressure would drop without salt because salt is needed for hydration=blood volume obviously and because my aldosterone was low due to fried adrenals I couldn't retain any sodium. That means low blood volume, low blood pressure, dehydration... Classic symptoms of people with adrenal issues. They crave salt like crazy.  Anybody who recommends low sodium diet should be put in prison lol.

This article shows that high (but not too high) salt intake is highly protective against cancer.

And too little salt is much worse than too much. Don't skimp on the salt.

Unpopular opinion, but take from this article what you want:

Interesting studies but I see major flaws in their reasoning.

They assume a certain cause and effect nature. Salt increases immune activity associated with autoimmunity. They assume that autoimmunity is a marker of a impaired immune system. In lieu of vitamin A toxicity, adding salt may be simply enhancing what is already there, need for immune activity.

Conversely, we have drugs that lower autoimmunity immune markers. They assume that to be good. Fasting lowers immune function as well.

Be careful with this, I recently found out that salt, milk and bottled water are fluoridated in Russia. If you eat a lot of salt, you can get a lot of fluoride.

In the USA, btw, as far as I know, water is fluoridated from the plumbing. So for those who are from there, it makes sense to put a reverse osmosis filter (see that the remineralizer does not add fluorine back) ).

@ggenereux2014 do you use iodised salt? If not, then what kind, please?

Hi @kathy55wood,

No, I don't use iodized salt.  I use Costco's Kirkland Signature Sea Salt.

Hi @kathy55wood,

I'll check again, but last few times I tried to buy the pink himalayan sea salt at Costco, it was iodized.  It said it on the label, and it smelled iodized too.  Too bad too, it was a nice large container of salt for a good price.

Update: I see now that your Sea Salt is from Brazil, it isn't the Himalayan pink stuff.  I'll look for the sea salt next time I'm at Costco.

@davidw why you think pink salt is pink? It's due to iron content. Why would you ingest some rusty anorganic iron? Normal white sea salt is much better. You want just sodium from the salt not the other elemets that are toxic for the body..
