Chia seeds are not as bad (10mcg/100g) they also have zeaxanthin (80mcg/100g)

Quote from Guest on February 15, 2019, 2:36 pmI went out for Tapas tonight after feeling a lot better this week and i thought to myself the only thing I'll cheat with is a bit of tomato on the potatas bravas, however, I had swordfish and it wasn't until I used Google after the meal that I found out it was a source of vitamin A. How bad of slip up is swordfish and in your experiences how much did slip ups like that set you back ?

129IU/100g, I don't think that is a huge slip-up. 🙂

Quote from Mokus on March 7, 2019, 10:00 amI am 5 months low VA and not too pedantic really. In the last week I have noticed a heightened sense of awareness when I slip up with my food choices. I decided to have a cup of peppermint tea at a friends, knowing it may not be the best choice. A couple of hours later I develop a neck tension like I used to always have. I used to have peppermint tea every day before. Right now I am getting a shoulder pain and also something I used to get frequently before. I am suspecting an ice cream I had yesterday. Feeling the physical link between certain foods and my body reaction is an eye opener.

Quote from Liz on March 12, 2019, 4:34 pmI am having xrays (contrast) tomorrow so am on a fast + laxative. Had an extremely stressful day at work and was shivering from cold with freezing hands etc. Needed something warm and salty. Found boullion/stock (organic vegetable) I had not thrown out. Had a mug of that.
A few hours later, i had a thick white-yellow hairy coating on tounge and my legs are itching like crazy driving me nuts.
In hindsight I had preferred being stressed and freezing and would have warmed up Apple juice with a good ammount of salt in it instead.
Sigh!

Not sure the itch was due to boullion anymore. I got red itchy bumps at first which developed into full blown out nettle-rash yesterday (white extremely itchy bumps) all over my legs (2 days post-laxating). Antihistamin is not working either. Did look up side effects and it said to discontinue and call doctor if experiencing nettle-rash and difficulty breathing but I had no issues breathing and had already discontinued taking it. I has reported it to our "medical council" as a drug side effect.
But it has had me wonder, whether it can be detox related since I was semi - fasting for 2 days + fasting for 2 days (a bit of juice + water)Â and then colon completely wiped out. Old stuff in there that was released? I have never experienced nettle-rash as a toxicity or detox symtom before though.

Quote from Paula on April 5, 2019, 7:26 pmI'm posting this in Slip-ups because I was technically off program, but at the moment it doesn't look like much of a mistake.
I've been eating low-A since the beginning of November. There have been a few real improvements, but I seem to be in a continual detox without any, "Now I feel really good!" breaks in between. For a while my nose drips constantly, then that stops and I transition directly into bleeding hands, then that stops and I'm knocked over with fatigue. Also, I've put on at least 15 pounds.
This week, I'm in deep fatigue and my period will be starting any minute. Hormone Hockey has kicked in with a vengeance -- intensely crabby and I keep thinking about French fries and potato chips (which make my joints crack) and chocolate. Yes, I know chocolate and magnesium. I do topical magnesium every day and I've increased that to twice a day in this phase.
On top of all this, I learned a few days ago that the oats I've been loving might be part of my problem (lutein). So one of the bright spots in my restricted diet is going away for a while.
Today, I decided I'd had enough. I've been so compliant and I feel terrible and I can't eat oats. So I ate chocolate. The whole 3.5-ounce bar all at once.
Holy Cow, it was like the Elixir of Productivity!
Pretty quickly, the tissues of my body felt really satisfied and happy. I washed and put away two loads of laundry. I completed registration for a workshop (which I've been intending to do for weeks). I did some tidying up around the house. And I made real strides toward completing my tax paperwork. This morning, I would not have guessed any of that was possible.
Not at all the stomachache and general setback I was prepared to accept.
My understanding is that dark chocolate contains low amounts of vitamin A. That probably didn't do me any good, but any thoughts as to what else might be in there that makes me suddenly capable of thinking clearly and taking action?
Here's the ingredients list: Organic dark chocolate (organic cocoa mass, organic cane sugar, organic cocoa butter). Organic vegetable oil (organic canola oil and/or organic safflower oil, and/or organic sunflower oil). Dry cocoa solids 57% minimum.

Chocolate contains a chemical similar to caffeine. I can't tolerate caffeine, but I eat a lot of sugar-free chocolate. It doesn't seem to keep me from detoxing at all. I like Lilly's and Chocoperfection brands.

Quote from Judy on April 8, 2019, 2:00 pmQuote from somuch4food on February 14, 2019, 12:26 pmI was so focused on fruits and veggies that I kinda forgot that grains, nuts and seeds are potential problems too.
So, after reflecting as to why I was feeling so low in the last 2 weeks, I started connecting dots today. The 4 foods that I suspected (nuts mix, flax seeds, chia seeds and pasta) to be responsible for my downfall turn out to all be sources of lutein, a carotenoid, that I seem to be super sensitive to.
The most problematic nuts I identified in my nuts mix are pistachios (not much in the mix, but really high in lutein) and cashews (a lot in the mix, but not too high in lutein)
I just want to point out that flax has the highest amount of plant estrogen of any food. It is linked to birth defects and miscarriages and more (one woman who had had 7 miscarriages sent me a Tweet with a recipe for flax bread. Another one had 3 miscarriages in 1 year after starting a Paleo diet with lots of flax. After she stopped the flax, she had a successful pregnancy.) Plants produce mammalian-like hormones as a way to defend themselves from predators, like us, who would eat their seeds.
