Teen goes blind from KFC & Coke

Another interesting case: Guy who has eaten mostly meat for his whole life:

Pretty much a very low vitamin A diet. He looks like an average person. He does eat pork, but it doesn't seem clear whether pork has much vit A or not (right? I'm not sure, correct me if I'm wrong) and I think his overall diet is quite low in vit A.  However, and this is just my speculation/opinion, he doesn't seem to have great jaw structure/development - to be clear, I think it's quite normal, but if a low vitamin A diet is ideal for health, than I would expect him to have better facial development..... Maybe a lack of enough carbs has something to do with it...?

It's no secret that low-carb diets reduce the brain and cause various problems in the long run.

I could only watch a little (time constraints today)  (OMG the girlfriend crying for the camera seemed staged) he actually didn't look that unhealthy to me, I see many more miserable people every day. I was so sad watching fat people come out the door of the grocery store yesterday, all looking sad and tired.   I really don't know if his high-fat meat diet really is "low" VA, but if he isn't doing supplements or acne drugs he could be lowish.  He is snarfing a burger with bun and cheese there, so he isn't purely carnivore.  I sometimes respect people who won't eat veggies now, LOL.  If you look at his baby picture, I think you can see that his face is somewhat asymmetrical already.

For some reason "my 600 pound life" videos have been coming up on my youtube search engine and I wonder if the obese people in it are VA toxic.

Any thoughts on this? She eats a low vitamin A diet. French fries, burgers, baked beans (looks like they have some tomato sauce, but overall her diet is still low VA), and bacon. However, she says her energy levels are very low, and she wants to lose weight. Doesn't seem super healthy.

Very unhealthy. Full of oxidised PUFAs. Lacking in essential nutrients. A rubbish diet is about more than just vA. That’s what I would say. Older people need more green veg to make nitric oxide whereas younger people get away with it better.

@leap7 she has high PUFA diet from all that oil from fried fries and fried bacon and burgers..  I say that all the time. Vit A is just one factor in the diet. So just because you have low vit A diet doesn't mean you will be healthy.. Fried foods in refined vegetable oils like fries, donuts, chips etc. is basically the worst thing that you can eat.. Oxidized omega 6 fats that will damage your cell membranes, will cause oxidative stress, will cause systemic inflammation, deplete your vit E etc.. If I could recommend to someone only one thing on topic of diet. It would be don't eat any oils... If people can do that. Their diet would be basically ok..

edit hah @jaj was faster. 🙂

Haha great minds think alike 😀

I’ve recently really tightened up on seed oils and I think it’s helping improve my post covid health deterioration. I guess it’s helping reduce inflammation. Of key importance as you say @jiri

Thanks @jaj and @jiri

I'm curious what you think about raw PUFAs, like cold pressed seed oils and raw nuts?

@leap7

I know you didn't ask me, but my opinion is that the less fresh the source is, and the more processed the source is, the more likely it is to be oxidized and to cause inflammation.

Best source: fruit and true nuts straight from the tree.  Second best: freshly picked and local.  Third best: picked ripe and frozen immediately afterwards.

Personally, I would steer clear of any bottled oils aside from coconut, avoid any fruit that was picked and shipped unripe, and avoid all nuts and seeds, especially if they're sitting in bulk bins.  The nutritional benefits of eating any of these things are already marginal to begin with when compared to animal fat and meat, and they probably become a net drag on the body once they've been sufficiently oxidized.

I’m no expert on this. I eat some nuts as I like them, but not to excess. I use olive oil or saturated fats. I think some of the worst sources of oxidised PUFAs must be re used seed oils used for deep frying in restaurants. I’ve completely cut these out of my diet. I do eat some organic oat cakes which contain palm oil but I’m not getting too obsessive about this. I’m trying for an anti inflammatory diet as taught on my NT course (but staying low vA).
