Quote from tim on November 7, 2019, 6:23 pmEven though I have IBS like symptoms I personally feel my protein digestion has improved since going low VA. I consume fish for breakfast, chicken for lunch and beef for dinner. I started doing this for muscle gain reasons to get enough daily protein but I really enjoy it now and a meal without animal protein now seems a bit odd. I get about 140 grams per day of protein from my diet which is a little bit under what serious body builders get I think. When you get it all from meat instead of protein powders then you're also getting all the zinc, creatine, B vitamins etc.
I'm definitely not out of the woods yet, my next post might be me complaining about my gut or fatigue etc but I know low VA is really helping my health.

I knew a guy that began balding in high school and it was rough on him, but I think by your age, Tim, many of his compadres had caught up with him. 🙂
Health is attractive.
As a white-haired lady, I know that my first impression isn't going to be "youth". I don't care about first impressions or being young though! 🙂

I have been on the Vit A detox for a year yet the only thing which is not totally clearing is the 15 year seb derm on the face. It cycles through dry, flacky, red as you well know, and its is a right pain/stress. I use no soap and very small amounts of coco nut oil when its really bad. Cool water only face washes. I eat oats, brown sugar, berries, white rice, black beans, chickpeas, some lentils, some sweet corn, sun flower seeds, potatoes, lamb, chicken, beef and the occasional oysters. I have recently introduced bread and butter for extra calories.
I move my body daily.
Could you add or take away anything which i should take on board while healing this seb derm.
Thanks for your log.

Hi, my cooking is not very inspiring, it is designed to minimise time spent in the kitchen. I bake battered frozen fish fillets for breakfast. I buy pre roasted chicken, this is quite good with noodles. Beef is always fried... steak or hamburger patties. When I don't want to cook I go to kfc or macdonalds, in Australia the only VA kfc add to their food is beta carotene in the cheese which I avoid anyway. At macdonalds I order hamburgers with 3 extra beef patties, they will do it if you ask. I would quite often go to a chinese restaurant for lunch and have duck, white rice and cabbage and a soup but I got sick of the duck after a while. On weekends I often go to a fish and chip shop and have calamari, scallops and 2 prawns with a beer. I sometimes also go and get chicken or beef pho.

Hi Gary, that's odd, have you seen any improvement since going low va? I think with those of us that get seb derm our bodies choose to offload va that way through the skin, maybe your body is still offloading it that way despite being lower in va after a year.
To deal with seb derm topically gently scrub the affected areas with a face cloth in the shower to remove the sebum and dead skin then allow skin to dry and apply 6% hydrogen peroxide using a spray bottle. Either close your eyes or wear swimming goggles, dont wear any important clothes either. Do this each day, it may be very painful at the start and it will look way worse but after a few days the seb derm will heal. you will need to then do it about twice a week after that to control it.
I wouldn't touch butter Gary. Oysters are prolly ok if they are cooked. I would recommend more seafood. Your diet is very low in vitamin k1, olive and canola oil has it but i think it's appropriate to consume a small amount of green herbs as well. If you're eating a serving of potato each day you are probably getting enough vitamin c but you could try including some more c rich food like citrus cabbage or strawberries.
If you are taking any supplements or medication they could be interfering with your progress.

I have seen great improvement in energy, joint pain totally gone, some white hairs turning back to black, gut function is way better, dreams are vivid and in colour, no more head ackes, mood better.
It is possible that the skin seb derm is part of a detox cycle, it does have less inflammation than before. Salt washes seem to work well.
I don't take any supplements. i tried vit c but that disturbs my gut.
I will introduce more low Vit A variety into my diet. squid, fish, cabbage. Avoid butter for now. Use a little olive oil.
Cheers.
