Vision improvements

Page 1 of 2Next

I have a mild myopia(2.75 and 3.25) which started when I was 12 years old. A few years ago, my prescription actually decreased.

I'm currently experiencing some significant improvements in vision. Street signs are clearer. Objects far away are becoming smaller, but sharper. And this is without zero eye strain, squinting, or anything. It actually feels like parts of my eyes are loosening up. During the day, I don't really need to use my glasses unless driving. I don't even have to use it while on the computer anymore, as text is very legible now. I've been delaying my eye exam for the last few months because of this interesting development.

Has anyone else been experiencing improvements in vision?

I have slight myopia and after 7 month not improved, but in the night I had double vision with blue and green light (neon,LED), now i see correctly.

So far my dry eye has improved - the extreme gritty feeling has gone but they still free dry.  I have noticed sleep in my eyes periodically upon waking, something that has been absent for so long I had forgotten about it.  I wonder if I am starting to produce more tear fluid.

I have had increasing problems with bright lights, particularly the newer whiter street lights and the white / blueish brighter car headlights.  These hurt my eyes and made driving and travelling in the car at night difficult.  This has now gone.  The TV doesn't bother me now either.  I used to wear orange glasses sometimes at night because the brighter flat screen TV hurt my eyes.

There are signs that my vision is starting to improve although these are v slight.  I am long sighted.  I have noticed that I can read my clock radio better (without glasses).  It is still a bit blurry but I no longer have to squint to bring the numbers into focus.  Also the sudoku in the paper is slightly clearer without my glasses on.  I can decipher the numbers now but still use my glasses to do the puzzle.

The blurring varies from day to day but on the whole there are signs of improvement.

I am about 2 months into my low VA diet.

I have been on zero Vitamin A for one year now. I have had vast improvements in my health and I continue to see improvements every month. In the last few months I have noticed that I can see better without my glasses. I have one eye that sees better at distance and one that sees better close-up, so for most of my life I didn't need glasses. As I got older I decided I needed glasses for driving, especially at night. Now I have the gradient lenses that work for both distance and also reading, but you have to tilt your head just right to see through the correct part of the lens. Maybe I should go without my glasses for a few days and see if my eyes and brain can remember how to focus without the prescription lenses. I have an eye exam coming up in the next few months and I will report back if my prescription improves! I'm going to give blood tomorrow, maybe that will accelerate my improvements!

I have been on a zero vitamin A diet for 3 years and 4 months. My health continues to improve! My husband (who is also very, very low vit A) and I went for eye examinations yesterday and we both had huge improvements in our prescription strength. Both my eyes improved so much that I don't need glasses for driving, I can pass the 20/20 eye test! I talked to the optometrist about my zero A diet and she was really listening and paying attention. She said whatever I'm doing, is working and keep it up!

I think health changes and improvements can take years to materialize once you stop taking in vitamin A. I continue to take 2 activated charcoal capsules every morning at breakfast to bind any vit A my liver spits out. I also eat a banana and pork at breakfast  and I think the charcoal binds any betacarotene from the banana and retinoids in the pork. I don't have irrefutable proof that the activated charcoal is helping me, but I have not had any detox setbacks in the last 3 years, only improvements.

Thank you Grant for creating this blog and this forum!  Both are life savers and I am eternally grateful! And thank all of you for sharing your journeys and helpful tips and comments!

I decided I should add to the above post other changes I have made recently which I suppose might affect my vision. In late December 2020 we dramatically lowered our EMF exposure. My husband and I stopped using anything that created a large magnetic field such as blow dryers, electric tooth brushes, electric razor (husband) and we also got rid of our induction range and got a plain coil top electric range (much better but still used with caution). We have an emf meter and a variety of emf shielding clothing and hats. We also use Graham Stetzer filters to remove "dirty" spikes of high frequency electricity from our house wiring.

I have also had all of my mercury amalgam fillings replaced, the last ones in mid june 2021. It has only been a month, but I suppose this could contribute to my vision improvements.

Has anyone else noticed changes after having mercury fillings replaced?

Hello, at my most recent eye exam a week ago, I found out that my prescription worsened by about 0.25. I am in my early 20's. I have been on a low vitamin A diet since about January 2020. I have had lapses where I ate more vitamin A, but for the most part I have been largely low vitamin A since then. My optometrist said that it's normal for vision to change until the mid 20's. He said my eyes look very healthy, no signs of disease. However, it's interesting that I had a decrease in my vision whereas most people report vision improvements on the diet.

@leap7 zinc status is really important with eye site.   I find even using 5mg or 10mg supplement per day can be helpful.  I think being on low VA really long could use up lots of Zn.   Are you eating lots of animal protein.

@orion yes I am eating a lot of animal protein - at least twice a day. I've recently started supplementing with zinc picolinate 15 mg every few days.

However, there are people who really begin to lose their eyesight without VA. There was one here, now another one on the RPF. Even Grant has periods of poor night vision. I wonder what's going on with them? I can assume a riboflavin deficiency.
