I’ve been wondering about retinaldehyde accumulation & slow ALDH enzymes (I presume that these enzymes are required in eye for aldehyde reduction - but I may be wrong - I need to do some more reading). This paper would fit with this & the idea of lipofuscin particles accumulating elsewhere in the body is a novel concept to me. Could people with slowed ALDH enzymes (& high vA intake) accumulate more? I shall fully read the paper later today.
