Vitamin D Toxicity and Retinol Relationship

I live in New England though and I got through last winter very well just sunning on the edge of the snow field in a lawn chair! In my boots and coat. I think you need to get your hair into the sun... no hat... IMO the oil in the hair makes that D...
I feel bad for anyone that works a job that doesn't allow them at least 10 mintues outside at lunch...
Well 10 minutes outside when you are in clothes will not give you much D.. Yes tanning bad is a good option. I always felt great using them. Mainly less depression in dark winter.. and like you said a lot of people can't even expose their body to the sun. It is not just from vit A. When you are in bad health overall sunbathing can be problematic, because simply UVB/UVA makes oxidative damage to your skin and when your body can't take another source of oxidative stress. You can't tolerate sun.. When I was in worst spot with my health my skin was very sensitive, pale/grey, thin, dry. I couldn't sunbath even 5 minutes. I was in pain immediately and red like lobster..

I think it is important to have balance between Vit A, D and K2. For most people it means getting sun and eating fish for D, eating meat, chicken and animal fat for K2 and minimizing A... and avoiding CLO like a sasquatch avoids a camera 🙂

Quote from r on May 20, 2020, 10:58 pmFrom personal Experience , as I was living in a snowy place before , I didnt get lot of sun there . So I used to Supplement with Vitamin D , though it would rise my vitamin D Levels , but after stopping it would go down so drastically . And morever my tinnitus got worse as I took Vitamin D ( 5000IU every other day ) . If I took D3 at night next morning my ears would ring like Hindu temple bells .
Since moving to Bali I decided to get rid of all Vitamin D supplements , and surprisingly my vitamin D levels are stable . and they dont go down drastically . I just go out in bright sun for 20 -30 mins . I am brown , I think I need a bit more . But I never got tinnitus from soaking sun . Moreover apart from getting vitamin D it has the benefit of sweating , helps with mood , vitamin A detox and iron regulation . So yeah I would go with sun instead of Vitamin D tabs and possibly trout fish or something

Quote from Jenny on May 20, 2020, 11:42 pmThanks @lil-chick & @tim-2 I was having my buttons pressed yesterday & this forum was the last straw!
On a forum of this type where people are discussing their personal experiences there is no place for people who are rude or people who don’t listen to others opinion. We are all on a steep learning curve & no one has all the answers.
I just made the point that I personally (that is me & no one else I did not generalise) have decided to try & increase my Vit D level through sunshine & lowering Vit A. My Vit D level is currently too low but there are many reasons why this is so. I have looked at much evidence & decided that for ME it is the best option. I am monitoring my progress & if this doesn’t work I will think again. It’s an experiment. Experiments are good imo. It’s how we find things out!!

Quote from tim on May 21, 2020, 1:43 amThe medical establishment is wrong about sunlight and they are partly to blame for the epidemic of Vit D deficiency around the world... In reality there shouldn't be much necessity for Vit D supplementation and testing. People should just be educated about the stupidity of using sunblock and about the benefits of short duration full body sunlight exposure or high UVB tanning bed sessions.

Quote from Jiří on May 21, 2020, 8:22 am@r-2 I sunbath a lot now and I can't sleep at all. I sweat a lot and my mind is racing like crazy.. I think it is copper coming from the tissues to the blood.. I had the same detox symptoms from near infrared sauna that I have(home made) + a lot of D3 that saturates my body activates the immune system. So probably if I had some bugs or something. The body is starting to deal with it..

Quote from puddleduck on May 21, 2020, 1:22 pmAh that sounds bad @jiri. Not a fun time.
@jaj I am curious to see how sunshine will affect your vitamin D levels! We will have to compare notes in a couple months. 😝
@r-2 Interesting about the tinnitus!
