Zeolite

I was reading the Zeolite Pure website and the reviews and info pages on the site keep mentioning how zeolite is great for heavy metal detox. I have had lots of fillings with mercury and wonder if the zeolite actually works on vitamin A and all it's metabolites and not just the mercury build up I think I have. Do you think you have many toxic heavy metals? Vitamin A toxicity probably makes it easier to become toxic in other substances and vice versa. Just wondering if you'd be a good candidate for zeolite. One of the doctors on the review page mentioned that zeolite is affective against some pathogens and not just heavy metals so hopefully it is also effective against vitamin A too.
Zeolite Pure says to take 15 grams (3 scoops) a day divided into 3 doses when first starting out so I am upping my daily amount a bit to 2 tablespoons total which I think is about 16 grams a day. (I lost the scoop a long time ago.)

Quote from romaine on November 19, 2019, 8:06 pmThere is a difference between the package label of the container I have and the label they show on the website for Zeolite pure. The scoop they provide now is about the fifth the size of the one they used to provide. I called their phone number and the guy I talked to said the FDA made them reduce the amount they recommend on the newer containers but he still recommends 5 grams 3 times a day for starting out. He doesn't think 1 gram will do much good at all.

Quote from Orion on November 20, 2019, 6:54 am@romaine I had my 3 mercury fillings removed about 10yrs ago. My hairtests only show aluminum above nominal, but I wouldn't doubt that I have mercury issues as well. Thanks for the extra info, it could be that zeolite only affects metals, and now that we are heading into lower VA saturation, zeolite is helping to get the metals out, and helping with healing. This plus pectin, which should bind VA, could be a good tandem approach.
@bludicka posted some good info on ALA and mercury issues, it is a very tricky element to deal with. @bludicka could you give your opinion on zeolite?

Quote from Orion on November 20, 2019, 7:05 am@romaine also wanted to add Dr. Smiths take on zeolite. He stopped recommending it, do to some having bad reactions to it, probably metals coming out. Dosage: ½ - 1 tsp/day total Pectin is the choice now for VA binding.

I don't like zeolite - for mercury it was weak (I tried powder "Zeoforce" and NCD liquid zeolites) and it can be contaminated with heavy metals. For general detox I am concerned about the release of aluminum in the body. Zeolite is 50% aluminum silicate, some aluminum can be liberated when it hits the stomach acid or if you drink lemon water or something acidic, maybe ok for short term use. I occasionally use charcoal at bedtime. I will try pectin and modified citrus pectin (Pectipure-swanson).

Quote from Orion on November 20, 2019, 8:07 amThanks @bludicka those are some valid points, which I believe I have seen mentioned on other hair testing forums. Dr. Smith mentions that apple pectin is superior to citrus pectin if you can find it.
@romaine pectin is the probably the better choice.

Quote from romaine on November 20, 2019, 8:22 amIt might be true about the aluminum separating but the Zeolite Pure site said that doesn't happen. Who knows. I'll probably finish the container I have at some point but won't purchase another unless I can't find anything else that helps. I am more concerned getting the vA out than any mercury or other HM I might have because before I started the vitamin A supplements I didn't have headaches and am convinced it is the A that is causing them. Edititing to add: that I think the vitamin A set off the headaches and is the primary cause but think that HM might be contributing too. Maybe the HMs got mobile since going on the low A diet.
I do like the idea of using apple pectin better and should be getting it today. Crossing fingers!

I will have my apple pectin on Friday, and will let you know short term effects from testing it over the weekend.

Quote from Joe2 on August 12, 2025, 1:04 amAny updates on zeolite usage from anyone?
Sure to see huge pivot on Garrett Smith's take on zeolite since this thread went quiet. He now has his own brand. He found his own source. Given price and cost structure, it seems an immensely expensive and profitable market. For awhile there, his take was that calcium was not needed because the silica from zeolite was readily transmuted into calcium. Since his pivot on calcium, this idea seems to have faded.
Questions I have on zeolite -
What are the odds that aluminum is being released into our system from taking zeolite?
What are the odds that it is having some drug like or duration paradox effect?
Currently Smith and a few manufacturers are recommending to start with their recommended dose and if symptoms come up to increase the dose until symptoms are gone. This routinely leads to seriously high doses right from the start. Ironically enough, it is also expensive. So we have seen folk jump in and spend quite a few hundred bucks a month from the start. On top of that, have seen zero folk hit a point of symptoms reduced so much that they reduce the dose. Even though this is the claim, all we have seen is people taking a lot of zeolite and raving about how much better their detox is going.
Their evidence is lack of constipation and reduction of other symptoms. Meanwhile a growing group try it and just can not handle it. Their symptoms get worse or they get new ones and they just stop.
Is this one more example of messing with a good system (prison / cowboy diet) that works because fixing something that works seems smart?
