Anyone cured yet?

I saw this comment in the interwebs about why Grant hasn't gone back to normal eating and I don't really know what it means, but thought I would share it here: "Grant Genereux might have been too touched to be able to relax his diet, because of cellular memory and memory of the limbic and ANS brains. In that case, you might not be able to stand any product that made you react, unless trying some somatic work to reduce the memory reaction and the fighting reaction of the ANS (Autonomic Nervous System)"
Well, that is too much for my skull brain, but I bet it is saying something interesting. Like maybe a person can almost develop and ALLERGY to vitamin A?
Sometimes I think about my loved one with type 1 diabetes. I think vitamin A played a really big role in causing it. I remember him downing blenders full of eggs in the years before his diagnosis.
Would he ever be cured by a low VA diet? I mean, it would be wonderful if he made some progress, like needed less insulin. That would be cool. But I SORT of doubt he would ever be cured (after 30 years of type 1.)
I do expect that at some point he would go back to eating a lowish VA diet (and continue taking insulin)
I guess what I'm saying is, it matters if you are BROKEN or BENT
There is plenty of room for hope, though!

Quote from Bella on July 20, 2019, 3:53 pmI feel really good lately but have no desire to go back to high A or even RDA amounts. That just seems foolish after the effort it took to get to this point!
edit: I eat butter if I crave it without any noticeable issues and even occasional goat dairy without added A doesn’t bother me.

Quote from Mokus on July 20, 2019, 6:14 pmHi @salt
My health has improved greatly however I feel there is more to improve. I realise that it takes alot longer to reduce VA in the body and want to continue. My diet is not so restricted as Grant's and I follow Dr G program, although not super strict. I agree with Bella I have no desire to go back to a high A diet or even moderate. My plan is to retest my VA levels down the track and probably allow some foods back in occasionally however not on a regular basis.

Hi Lil chick,
Yes, I continue with my diet and I'm still being quite strict about it. But, the primary reason I continue with it is to try to achieve a 0.0 serum level vitamin A test. I'm almost at the 5 year point, and will retest very soon. I hope to post my results by the 3rd week of August. However, even if I do achieve the 0.0 this year, I definitely plan on sticking to a zero vitamin A diet for many more years to see what happens.
As for calling myself "cured", I was trying to not use that term. For me that term connotes an infectious type disease, and it is clearly not that. But, more importantly, I wanted to make absolutely sure about not just going into some long-term remission and only to find it flare up later. Therefore, I wanted to go at least a year or two symptom-free before making the call on it. For me, I was doctor diagnosed for eczema, and chronic kidney disease. Both conditions appear to be gone, and have been gone for at least several years now. Even still, I want to get another kidney screening checkup done before making the call on it.

(edited for clarity, I'm thankful for the whole VA idea!)

Quote from salt on July 21, 2019, 5:39 amI just feel like, if someone who previously couldnt tolerate some VA but now can, that would be good evidence that we are really talking about a poisoning. Whereas if nobody ever becomes able to eat normal levels of VA it sounds more like this is about a dysfunction in VA metabolism. And I haven't seen a single testimony of anyone tolerating moderate levels of VA again. It has been a couple of years now

Quote from lil chick on July 21, 2019, 5:58 am@salt, that is a good point, but why does it have to be a dysfunction? As we used to say in the software business, that isn't a bug, it's a feature! haha... I can totally see in one of my genetic lines that everyone there has high VA symptoms...(that is why I've started the genetics poll). I suppose in some kinds of troubled times or environs, people who are very frugal with VA might have come through a sort of bottleneck.

Quote from lil chick on July 21, 2019, 6:33 amThere are people all over Asia who count themselves completely lucky every time they sit down to a meat/rice/cabbage/onion/small-amount-of-lard meal. Maybe not surprising that some people's body's expect/need that? We complain here a lot about the WAPF, but Price didn't study anyone with that diet. I've always kind of wondered how Asians I know (from Asia) have such great teeth.
This is why I keep harping on the idea, which is sort of a spin-off of the WAPF idea. Look to your own PERSONAL ancestor's diets. Not worldwide ancestral diets.
