  • Lack of choline?
  • SIBO making everything worse?
  • Generally: The detox is very taxing on the body, burns through nutrients like crazy. Vitamin A needs to be turned in to retinoic acid to actually detox which is the most caustic form of retinol. Detoxing is a pain. Puddleduck recently named it: "Nutrient Depletion Hypothesis of the Detox Setback” and goes on to say (worth reposting): the lower your vitamin A intake, the harder your body will work to detoxify vitamin A stored in the liver and elsewhere. Since this process of detoxification is extremely resource-intensive, the hypothesis suggests “pushing the detox too hard” will lead to nutrient deficiencies, particularly of choline, the B vitamins, and essential minerals such as zinc, leading to a return of symptoms of toxicity. Jenny and Andrew B are forum members who have shared this hypothesis, and their experiences aligning with it.
  • A personal favourite of mine: Body temperature differences. The normal body temperature is 37° Celsius (98.6° F). The body raises the temperature sharply soon after waking and lowers it below this threshold at night to induce sleepiness. For a third of the population, this normal temperature regulation doesn't work properly. This is the group that falls ill more easily, thinks slower, needs more sleep and takes longer to recover. I don't believe that Andrew B is a very reliable source. His egg theory is complete hogwash. My biggest visible vA detox symptom is that I start to get scalp acne. When I first started vA detox the scalp acne was insane. Now after two years it's 80% better. When I tried eating egg or two a day the scalp acne went away completely, it totally put my detox to stop. Anyone who is eating eggs on this vA detox journey is just running circles, never getting anywhere. I'm glad Andrew B took his eggs basket and returned to that clownbook forum.

Hold up, wasn't Beata that Ray Peat moderator?

Just finished reading Beata's log and it seems to me that she just found this new health guru guy Tom Cowan and just jumped to his ship. I didn't see any definite great improvements on her journey.

My theory why there is clear lack of Grant's like success stories is the complete lack of backbone in today people. People can't follow through with the plan, they start to look some new magic pill or egg and then the whole process just collapses. I guess I have to just see this thing through and witness the truth myself.

Something cured your scalp acne... and you're saying that that's bad? What other symptoms were there that let you know your detox stopped by eating eggs?

Before my first two year long vA detox my scalp was clear. Then I eliminated every vA source from my diet and my scalp quickly exploded with terrible acne. My scalp was literally bleeding from those pimples. During that two year long detox the scalp acne gradually got better and better. Then after two years came full I stopped vA detox and started eating lot's of broccoli and my scalp healed completely. Now I started vA detox again, eliminated broccoli from my diet and scalp acne slowly but surely started coming back, but not nearly as severe when I started this detox the first time. Scalp acne is the only clear sign that I can associate with this detox because it get cured every time I start eating vA foods.

Can I ask a crazy question? Why even do VA detox then? In your first post you said you didn't even notice any improvement after 2 years. What symptoms made you think you were VA toxic in the first place?

Because I clearly am vA toxic. I have a history of three courses of Accutane, 20 years worth of high dose vA supplements and 20 years eating extremely high vA diet. My palms are still completely orange and I have issues that I don't want to share here that make my life not worth living. I think death every day and I would so much like to hang myself and go to eternal rest, but I also remember those times when I was healthy and how wonderful life can be. So I'm trying to look this thing through and maybe I can still enjoy life before I finally get my eternal rest.

Ouch, that is rough! You must be really vitamin A toxic. How did your high vitamin A diet look like back then?

I blame this weston a price article for my downfall. Vitamin A: The Forgotten Bodybuilding Nutrient - The Weston A. Price Foundation (westonaprice.org) After reading this article I started supplementing vA 25-50k per day along with eating sweet potatoes as my main carb source and broccoli as my vegetable source.

I think the person who wrote this article and the people who are responsible for keeping this web page still online should be shot to death. No questions asked, they should drag their asses out on the street at shot right to the face.

Boah.. crazy! I read the comments too, to the article, and there was several comments who told about how they have developed bad toxicity issues.

That is the internet world today. Its so much information out there. Its so easy to grab on to some straws of promise of beauty and health. I know because I have done the same! But all the mistakes makes us a little wiser every day 🙂 🙂

But yeah mistakes can hurt awfully much. My whole life is so full of mistakes i know no other that have made so many! But I have already learned a ton too. So I strangely enough dont want to be without them. In the end, we will turn out really balanced, wise and beautiful 😉 🙂
