Quote from Inger on November 22, 2023, 4:18 amPotatoes I steam cook three times a day in Instant Pot and I always peel them after cooking.
Red lentils I boil the whole amount every morning.
Black beans in Instant Pot whole amount every morning
I eat steamed cabbage twice a day 150g at a time.
Hemp seeds I buy whole, 10kg bag at a time and I grind them myself in a spice grinder. I just put ground hemp seeds in my mouth with a spoon, chew them and swallow and drink water after. I don't add ground hemp on my meals because I find it very hard to chew food when it contains ground hemp. It's easy to eat ground hemp on it's own and drink water after.
Funny thing, I first bought hempseed oil and I got chest acne from it. Then I bought whole hemp seeds and no adverse effects. So the oil must have been rancid or something, or my body doesn't like it because it's not natural to drink isolated oils.
Oh and I use 1ml of salt three times a day on my meals. I don't use any other spices. Every food tastes great to me, very strong taste and appetite. So no signs of zinc deficiency.

@arket I want to ask you a question but I do it in your journal as to not hijack the accutane thread too much. So what I wanted to ask was, how did you come up with this diet? And have you noticed any benefits to it so far?
Did you jump to this potato bean diet from a mostly carnivore diet, or the Weston A Price diet?
Do you do beans and potatoes to get all amino acids for muscle growth?
And one more question... its quite a lot of calories, how do you burn them all, or have you gained body fat?
I also dont use spices anymore, just salt. Seldomly I add some Thyme or other spice but now I dont even like it that much anymore, so weird. I like the plain taste better! As I learned herbs can mess with liver detox, I stopped using them...

Well I have tried many different diets and foods over the years. One thing I noticed was that eating animal foods made my cholesterol, heart rate and blood pressure worse and I never even enjoyed eating animal flesh. So I just kind of eliminated them from my diet because of that, not because of vegan ideology. Then I just tried to figure out what foods can I eat to get a lot of calories. I tried eating pasta, oats and barley, but figured out that they make me extremely gassy and I don't seem to digest them that well. Then there was basically rice and potatoes left and I just decided to choose potatoes because I like them more and there are studies that show that potatoes are a complete food, meaning you can eat nothing but potatoes forever and live a healthy happy life without any deficiencies.
I have always loved going to the gym so I also wanted to eat a little more protein so I made sure to add different legumes to my diet. I tried every kind of legume and for various reasons black beans and red lentils seemed to fit me the best.
I believe in Brian Peskin's theory of PEO fats so that's why I decided to add hemp seeds to my diet. I love them so much BTW.
I have always loved cabbage too and in Finland it's very cheap and available year round so that's why I chose it.
Currently I train three times a week in the gym and the rest of the time I just basically lie on the couch. I don't work, I'm on a sick leave because of serious depression. Even though I eat 3.5k calories every day and do basically nothing but lie on a couch, I still have very lean physique and visible abs.

Quote from Inger on November 22, 2023, 5:00 amPotatoes seem to suit you well! I was grown up on mostly potatoes because we were very poor with so many siblings, so as an adult I never wanted to eat them again.... as a kid I craved meat. Maybe it is genetics or something else.. That said I have not tried a potato diet yet as an adult..lol Maybe I have to, just for funs sake.
Are you drinking only water, or some other beverage?
I have never suffered from depression, it must be rough 🙁 . How long do you already suffer from it? Has it not helped at all so far, what you have been doing?
I suppose you are not taking any medications?

Quote from Arket on November 22, 2023, 5:06 amForgot to add that there are nine essential amino acids and all plant foods contain every one of them. The thing is that every plant food contain different amounts of these nine and if you eat very little calories, you might not get enough of some. This becomes a moot point when you eat enough calories. I get 150 grams of protein from my current diet, more than enough to build new muscle tissue for my 80 kg lean frame. About 1.6 grams of protein per kg of bw is the max your body can use, then you get no added benefits and adverse effects start to appear.

Quote from Arket on November 22, 2023, 5:23 amI just drink water. I have tried different medications but none of them help. I have been depressed for 10 years now. I haven't felt any joy of life for that whole time. Only time when I feel some kind of excitement is when I think of death. I would like to see what happens when I die, is there something after that or nothing at all. I don't mind if there isn't anything at all after we die, that is fine with me.

All I have done for the last ten years is read a lot to find a cure for my problems and just try to hang in there hoping that some day I will get better. I don't want to get into details of my exact problems, but when everything started to go bad about in 2013 I had very intense pressure headaches and my back had cold sweat even when I walked slowly in cold winter day. This happened at the end of my last accutane course.

Quote from Arios on November 22, 2023, 7:04 amThe cause of your long lasting depression can be Nickel toxicity/sensitivity that you have developped from past isotretinoin use. Cadmium block Nickel clearance and from what i understand your current diet is high in both cadmium (potato) and nickel (bean, hemp) but also low in zinc that Ni mimic and replace.

That's funny. You know what my diet was when I first became sick? I basically ate nothing but beef, rice, whey protein and supplements. I also took AST-SS MultiPro 32X multivitamin 2 tablets every day and one tablet has 30mg of zinc. So every day I got 60mg(!) of zinc from supplements plus all the zinc from beef and whey. So I ate high animal protein and high zinc diet when I first became sick with all of my problems I have. It was years later when I started my current diet.
