Carnivore and Bile Acid Malabsorption
Quote from Andrew B on March 19, 2023, 2:46 am@audrey Magnesium was on my suspect list for a long time. I dont get the cramps any more which usually were helped by magnesium. I'm also digesting nuts better now and eating more cashews so I had hoped magnesium was okay. might be worth getting Epsom salts. Thanks.
@jiri I think many of the the things that help bile are in eggs. They are high in phosphatidylcholine. Each egg has about 1 gram of it hence why eggs can improve constipation for some. It's debated whether taurine is there. Serine I think can convert to taurine but the conversion may be hampered in some people.

Here is a podcast with a woman aged 82 who has been on a carnivore diet since she was 17. She lives in the forest (she calls it the bush) of British Columbia, Canada and raises cattle. For many years she ate what she and her husband hunted. She has ten children and claims to have trouble keeping track of all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She says she works fourteen hours a day. She has recently learned Spanish because she and her husband recently bought a farm in Colombia, although she is still working on the ranch in BC.
Most of the podcast is about the economic problems facing beef producers, not her personal life. But she makes a lot of entertaining remarks.

I've watched a good portion of that and she is very passionate about meat and seems of healthy mind and body, but it appears it is due more to her lifestyle and avoiding processed junk than anything. She claims the grains are for animals not humans, well that's not entirely true, grains have helped people survive for thousands of years during times where meat was for rich people. For the opposite here is Barbara O'neill: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m44tnbxTAvY
She is 69 yrs old and avoids meat and dairy. She doesn't look as youthful but quite agile in her older age she still runs up hills every morning despite eating lots of so called 'toxic' plant foods. She also appears to be an undereater. Maybe it is the excess of processed food that is the largest problem facing people today. And lack of movement and purpose.

That’s incredible! Thanks for sharing.
That’s so amazing to me that I’m finding it difficult to believe to be honest. If she well and truly is 82 that is a massive endorsement for the carnivore lifestyle.
It would also diminish the reputation that carnivore has for prematurely aging people.
In the description of the video it says she only consumes meat and water. Do you know if she consumed any organs, eggs or dairy?

Quote from Retinoicon on April 4, 2023, 6:10 pmShe did mention dairy. She had a rant about homogenized milk but doesn't mind pasteurized milk. She eats a lot of butter, or did at some point.
She didn't mention chickens. On organs, no part of the animal goes to waste on her farm, but that can include feeding her dogs, which have double the lifespan of similar breeds fed standard dog diets. I don't recall if she personally eats organs.

well...@christian, her hands.. look at them. They look pretty old, with enlarged knuckles, I think?
If she has lived a natural life without any smoking, drinking, medications, on the countryside lots of time outside, going early to bed etc. that can keep one good looking in oneself.
I know how much late night work age you, I work as a waitress. High stress, late nights. Not healthy at all.

Yeah the more I thought about her, the more it seems she's a little bit crazy, her entire reason for coming on the show was to get people to support ranchers so of course how do you do that? make all sorts of glorious claims!
