Egg progress reports
Quote from lil chick on April 1, 2023, 5:28 amHey this article came up when I was searching for white egg yolk stories: https://www.npr.org/sections/thesalt/2013/07/12/201501977/help-my-egg-yolks-are-freakishly-white
It's about a guy traveling with Obama internationally and finding that in some African countries the egg yolks aren't freakishly orange like here.
A Japanese branded white egg yolk egg, and it even says what they feed them. https://www.groovyjapan.com/en/kometuya/

Quote from Andrew B on April 1, 2023, 5:33 am@lil-chick Osteopenia perhaps. I'll get my bones tested in case the eggs Vit A is getting shoved in my liver ha ha !
I had problems initially with eggs. I also had sulfite issues. Then my liver health got better and perhaps I was converting sulfur to sulfate better. I wish I'd increased the eggs at that point. It could be lutein levels in the eggs causing problems. Jenny Jones can only tolerate so much lutein. We know from David Hagersten that high fibre flaxseed seems to reduce lutein content. Some people also before and after detox become sensitive to very small amounts of Vitamin A. And some people are allergic to the albumin in egg whites.
So many people long term on Vitamin A have got into serious problems because of overly restricting diet or lack of a nutrient. Now eating eggs and some getting great benefit so biotin, choline or phosphatidylcholine might be what's lacking. We cant keep doing the Grant approach and having serious casualties (Grant doesnt want people to follow his diet). And is it more often women getting into problems as well ? Do women have worse liver issues in general ?

Who are these "so many people", and how do you know they have gotten into serious problems because of overly restricting diet or lack of nutrient? Jesus Christ you spew out so much stuff that with a seconds pause is blatantly obvious to be some speculation you are painting as truth. And even though Grant is not recommending people to follow his diet, it is because he is careful with giving advice, not because he is saying it is bad. Careful about giving advice is something you are not, you are actually the complete opposite, trying to be some egg Messiah. You remind me so much of Great Smith it is scary.

I’m only 1/3 of the way there, so I’ll keep my report vague for now:
I did run into a significant bad reaction to the eggs for about a month or so after an initial honeymoon period. I have tested out a couple different solutions, one of which seemed to resolve the problem, but I am still in process of stopping the winning solution, and testing a couple other solutions, because I want to get a better picture insofar as why I had this reaction.
Right now, there is one explanation for the honeymoon period I have (mostly—I like to keep an open mind!) ruled out:
Since I have had a “deficient” blood level of vitamin A for over a year now, it does not make sense to me that consuming eggs would lower my current blood retinol level any further by moving excess circulating vitamin A into liver storage.
The two main explanations still on the table:
1) I may be sensitive to the vitamin A and lutein in the eggs, and consuming them every day has raised my blood retinol level too high. (If I could get a blood test to check, I would.)
2) I may be increasing my rate of detox in general (including oxalate, and whatever other baddies are still stored in my body).
Of course, both could be at play, I guess? Lol. Entirely possible.
I agree with what @lil-chick has said in post #10 of this thread, especially this:
Anyways I'm all for different opinions, especially as things are so early. Sand's opinion, Ourania's, Jenny's, Wavy Gravy, Tim2 etc etc they are all so very important. And of course Andrew's too. It could be that eggs are just what some need and not what others need.
Ourania says something is wrong with eggs, and I've posted about it before. I agree. It's their feed. I think eggs are a very human-to-eat food and if there is something wrong with them we should fix it and not just live without eggs.
Context is everything.
Also those white-yolk eggs look amazing, lol! 🤩 I want to try them. (If I had a backyard, I would join a backyard chicken experiment! And share the eggs with other detox-ers. Maybe one day. 😂 )

Do you mean in the yolk after adding flaxseed to the chicken’s diet? Or do you mean for a human to eat flaxseed along with a lutein-containing food, @andrew-b?

Quote from Andrew B on April 1, 2023, 12:12 pm@puddleduck yes, the yolk after flaxseed in hen's diet. Very high fibre about 27 grams per 100 grams I think. Ironically, flaxseed also has some lutein in it.

Quote from puddleduck on April 1, 2023, 12:24 pmThat’s fascinating, @andrew-b! Thank you. Apparently fiber lowers the absorption of beta carotene in human diets as well, so perhaps this applies to lutein for us, too.

Quote from Audrey on April 2, 2023, 4:09 amThis is my egg report, perhaps slightly early, I wanted to wait at least another month but here goes… i’ve been eating eggs daily for over 5 months now, 2 in the beginning, which was too much (lots of bile release and return of anxiety), so I cut back to 1 a day and lowered my fibre intake and other fats also at this time. It seemed to me the eggs and fibre in the beginning triggered quite a strong reaction in me, neck pain returned, swollen neck nodes, worse shoulder pain, anxiety… also the yellow pooping returned (brown stool with yellow leaking out.) Then one night I woke up from the worst thumb cramp ever, never had that before… I believe I was eating 2 eggs at this time and spelt bread… anyway, 4 mos later and my thumb has hugely improved, I can bend it again, thankfully, but it still has a ways to go, joint still inflamed. Nothing seemed to help the excruciating pain, not mag spray or potassium, but I’ve kept up with 1 egg per day (sometimes 2 to test) and I was/am still pooping with yellow. I have less anxiety now and my bowel movements are once, usually twice a day. I notice that after pooping ‘yellow’ (sorry tmi again) that my thumb feels better the next day. My right forearm and hand have been going yellow at times and I noticed when I massaged my arm then it would actually trigger a bowel movement. I’ve also been getting fysio therapy on my hand bc it’s been difficult to put pressure on my bike handle bars too and I cycle everywhere, so I wanted to try anything to help it along. I wondered at some point if it was oxalate related, but I don’t know. It could be a combination. My arm skin and skin on both hands has suffered quite a lot the last few months, my facial skin too, but there are moments when it does look a bit better, less dry. Before the eggs my facial skin was looking great. My hands are the worst, they have zero fat on them and my forearms too have gotten quite thin. I lost my arm hair again (the first time it happened it grew back lusher than ever) and I see now it is finally growing in again. These cycles are fascinating, I do feel this process with my thumb shows some interesting progress with eggs and bile, but first I regressed a lot. Pattern wise, it does appear to me that the eggs are helping to detox toxic bile out of the system. What else could the stools with yellow mean? But further, things don’t feel entirely ‘right’ internally or with my head/balance. I am pretty sure I am deficient in a few important nutrients, especially if I am using up the nutrients I have to actually detox, but I feel going slow is totally fine with me these days, bc the times I have ramped things up, usually unknowingly, I have paid quite heavy for it. I do hope that I have not caused too much permanent damage. But the body is amazing, just doing what it does, and by being gentle with it I believe it can get back in balance. I sometimes take B1 and mag, and now B2. B12 periodically. I am afraid to take taurine but feel I may need it, I just don’t want any bad surprises from it. I tried recently to take 6 mgs of zinc and it sped the detox up too fast in combo with 1 egg. I still struggle to eat enough meat (it can also speed things up too fast for me), but I do crave it and keep my portions small. I will continue with the 1 egg a day, and see if my skin improves. If I can tolerate 2 eggs a day without stress I might try that for a while. Energy is amazing, sleep is very good, libido has also improved. I often wake up in the morning a bit light headed. I connect this to my liver being overworked from pushing too hard the day before, usually with fibre. I still have this chronic, lingering dry cough, but there are some days where it is less. I thought betaine from quinoa and choline were the missing factors, now I am adding thiamine to the equation. I guess this is it for now unless I think of something I forgot to add I will add it here.

Quote from Audrey on April 2, 2023, 4:27 amI'd like to add that I am better able to tolerate a wider variety of fats in general, like a spoonful of raw kefir, or a bit of cheese (which has never been a problem), and sunflower seeds or occasional nuts.
