Eggs as part of Vitamin A reduction

Quote from Andrew B on January 23, 2023, 9:13 am@michael2 Yes, a certain Doctor is saying it gets shoved in the liver and people are believing it. It's a complete misunderstanding of what's going on and of the many uses of choline in the body. I posted loads of studies in the other network and they got removed. I've posted many of them again in this forum. Eggs (where tolerated) increase detox not slow it down as many have found out. Anyone saying eggs slows detox is a guesser and not a tester. They have no basis for saying that. At 10.29 in this Elliot Overton there's a useful diagram to see that phosphatidylcholine goes into the bile. We also know that low serum retinol could be a low choline problem if health problems still exist. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PgssbwKm02k

I was saying that "maybe you get choline deficient as you get toxic in vit A.."

Didint think about it that way. Probably it sets somes limit to detox and as a cause, it sets how much you store in the liver. Just a guess. It would cool if that could be established.

Quote from Alastair on January 23, 2023, 12:26 pmQuote from Jiří on January 23, 2023, 1:42 am@alastair hi I have the same lecithin. I am lost btw when you try to calculate how much choline is there for a serving. Just look at the lable. what it says. One serving is one third of a tablespoon. Which is 10g. It's not one AND third of a tablespoon.. So I don't know how you came up with 20ml? Anyway yo don't need to calculate this. You see that one serving is 10g and in one serving (10g) you have 2.5g of phosphatidlyl choline. So 13% from 2500mg is 325mg.. So you are somewhat off, but you are still right that I was taking too low dose. It's funny because I am taking also some minerals from now foods and I mixed servings for magnesium with this lecithin so I was thinking 5g serving of lecithin is plenty. But I would need to take not 5 but 20g to get 650mg of choline which is a good dose.. I would love to eat just eggs, but I feel like all that extra cholesterol is not good for me and I also don't have source of good quality eggs + they are more and more expensive here. So I think I will buy this sunflower lecithing https://fichema.cz/slunecnicovy-lecitin-e322/1419-lecitin-slunecnicovy-1-kg-8592861095032.html its much cheaper than the now brand and I will try to take 20g daily to get 650mg of choline per day and will see what happens..
@jiri Hi. The ml volumes I quote are those stamped on my measuring spoons. This page Measuring spoon - Wikipedia gives the volume of metric measuring spoons, that is 1 teaspoon 5ml, 1 tablespoon 15ml. I don't know where you are coming from if you think that label you posted shows the dose as being 1/3 tablespoon. To me it clearly states 1 1/3 tablespoons (plural) and not 1/3 tablespoon (singular). Supposing it was 1/3 tablespoon as you say, that's 5ml, or 1 measured teaspoon. You think 5ml of lecithin powder weighs 10g ? Are you buying lecithin powder mixed with lead dust?! 5ml of water only weighs 5g, and water is a lot heavier than lecithin powder. You had me getting out my small kitchen scales and weighing the stuff, result: 1 teaspoon, weight barely registers, 1 tablespoon + 1 teaspoon, just over 10g. Weight depends on how tightly you pack the powder into the measuring spoon. So I don't think I am 'somewhat off' on that part of it. Sorry to hear you can't use eggs. I am just trying to warn people that there is a lot less choline in sunflower lecithin than you would think, and it takes a lot of it to make up the RDA of choline. If you want to take 20g a day, then that would be 2 and 2/3 tablespoon per day.

Quote from Jiří on January 23, 2023, 12:36 pm@alastair heh so again on the lable it says "Serving size 1 1/3tbsp (10)" and on the other side of the label it says you can see on the picture I posted. Where it says per one serving which is 10g it has 2,500mg of phosphatidyl choline and if you say it's 13% choline that means 10g serving has around 325mg of choline.. Everyone has different size tsp or tablesponds it doesn't matter. I have kitchen scale so simply in 20g of sunflower lecithin is around 650mg of choline. Do you agree with me? 😀

Yeh, weighing out 20g of sunflower lecithin is fine by me Jiri 🙂 Post a picture of it on here, so that people can get an idea of how much lecithin needs to be consumed to get the RDA of choline. I think you'll find it's a lot- just think, that tub from iherb would be gone in around 22 doses. I use measuring spoons for dosing powder supplements, they are much more accurate than serving spoons. Last lot of sunflower lecithin I bought on ebay, it's cheaper than iherb. A lot of suppliers seem to have run out of it though- probably because the Ukraine war has trashed the supply of sunflower oil.

Why are interested in phosphatidyl choline? why not eggs?

Quote from Andrew B on January 24, 2023, 2:08 am@michael2 yes, here we are taking grams of lecithin (which we might not need all that's in it) to avoid small amounts of dietary cholesterol of about 86 mgs extra per egg (compared to meat) which might not even be absorbed by the body. And you get all you need for nutrients to enable the detox, carry out cell repair and help bile toxicity from selenium, iodine, choline, folate, little vitamin E, protein, lecithin 1.5 grams and phospholipids like spihingomyelin.
Of course some can't tolerate eggs for various reasons.

Quote from Jiří on January 24, 2023, 2:28 am@andrew-b I will try eggs again, but they are small size and are expensive. So if I get like 400mg of choline from 4 small eggs I am not sure if that's enough.. I will buy some lecithin again and will do 4 eggs + 10g of lecithin per day.. Hopefully that will fix this feeling of pressure that I often feel in the liver area.. I don't know if it's gallbladder issue or fatty/inflamed liver.. I have to lower my sugar(fructose) intake as well.. No more refined sugar and max 2 pieces of fruit per day..
