Fasting
Quote from Jiří on December 8, 2021, 10:57 amI did 3 day fast when I was doing a lot of stupid detoxes etc.. and my health was in toilet. I had so low metabolism. It's miracle that my heart did not stop during that time when my blood pressure, body temperature was crazy low.. I think fasting is good. But you need to feel that it is helping you. If you feel after one, two days that you can't even walk your body is probably too weak to handle fasting..

Quote from Sean on December 8, 2021, 11:16 amYes. Jifi! I have fasted in the past but not for years, other than intermittent. This fast for some reason has been so easy, other than the headache upon awakening that went away once I got moving. Last night, I guess I went into ketosis because I started getting energy and felt like a kid again. I'm working from home right now, and the mental clarity is awesome!

Quote from Audrey on February 4, 2023, 6:42 amI've been thinking a lot about fasting these days, which is something I used to do a lot more often in the past. Also because my mother died at this time of year and I've been thinking about her. She did a 30 day beet root juice fast because of metastatic breast cancer of the liver. During her fast she looked incredible and felt amazing with great energy and bright, dazzling eyes. Her eyes even changed colour. Which had me thinking about bile. I think my mother's experience (which I didn't connect at the time) could have been from not releasing bile, or very little bile. It was like a honeymoon period for her. When her fast was over she slowly declined, yellowing of the eyes, zero energy etc. I fasted with her and also felt great, but I also remember the fast caught up to me. I don't know if there was any deficiency per se but some of the things I experienced was not being able to tolerate fat so well afterwards, with this same liver area tightness and twinges I experience when I am dumping too much bile these days, if I push fibre or meat too hard. Just my thoughts trying to connect fasting and bile and what makes certain elements of fasting feel good. And why my mother appeared to be doing so incredibly well just 3 months before she died.

Quote from Inger on February 4, 2023, 4:37 pmthat is so interesting Audrey. So sorry for your mom. How come the fasting did not cure the cancer after all. There is more to it. I used to fast when young but I dont like fasts anymore. Somehow I feel it is not good. So I have not fasted since like 15 years. At all. Maybe the time has changed too. We live in a very strange time for sure. Very high speed, lots of stress. I feel like de stressing, giving the body lots of proper nourishment, rest etc is the way to go.

Thank you @inger. My mom pretty much returned to a mostly organic, whole foods diet. I'm sure there was some red wine drinking too.

Quote from Jiří on February 5, 2023, 2:40 am@inger drinking beetroot juice is not real fast. I think juice fast is really bad idea.. The body still has sugar from the juice. So insulin is still high and the body can't start digesting damaged(cancerous) cells... Water fast works completely different.. Simply if you want autophagy you can't ingest any calories. Only water and minerals like sea salt if you have low blood pressure..

Quote from Alex on March 28, 2024, 12:21 pmI'm trying a 3 day fast now (nearly one day in). I've never gone longer than a day fasting before because I usually get hungry or do too much activity where I need food afterwards. This time I will try to stick it out for 3 days as I want to see if I experience any additional benefits to what I've felt from 1 day fasts. Currently one day in and I feel super calm and increased inner peace right now, let's see if I experience additional benefits in the coming days. I do get the feeling while I'm doing the fasting that it is very helpful for my liver and eating the whole time is stressful for my liver.

Quote from Jiří on March 29, 2024, 12:44 am@alexm I will experiment with fasting during the summer for sure. Fasting when it is hot outside is much easier. You don't get cold and you are not so hungry. I always tried fasting during cold months and it was horrible.. I feel really good after I deplete my glycogen stores from the liver and muscles after hours of riding bike. This kind of exercise also starts autophagy.. Now I know what is the deal with my liver/bile issues. It is mainly chronic stress in the place where I live(people and also huge EMF exposure) + sitting in my room all the time with bad posture= organs can function properly + blood and lymph flow is impaired. I had non of that in Croatia and that's why my bile started flowing almost instantly from day two... So my goal for 2024 is to move out. Ideally closer to nature somewhere. So I can walk barefoot a lot and ground myself.. Warm place next to the ocean is ideal for that.. Btw if you are not doing dry fasting it is good idea to take some salt with the water. When I did fasting on just water my blood pressure was crazy low and felt instantly better after eating some celtic sea salt..
Btw I need to get blood work done due to my euthyroid(T4) use. So I wonder what markers should I test with it. So far I have on a list
TSH, free T3, Free T4, (reverse T3 test is not available here..), liver enzymes, urea, kreatinin, uric acid, bilirubin, Ha1c, Iron panel, CRP, homocystein, PSA, fibrinogen, copper+ceruloplasmin(can't test plasma zinc here and serum zinc is useless), lipid panel and maybe other hormones like DHEA, Cortisol, testosterone, prolactin and estradiol..
I really want to see the results now when I feel how I am stressed from the place where I live and somewhat stressful job(picking up groceries in a supermarket for delivery company. Constantly having phone and PDA on my body..) and after period of time in stress/EMF free environment..

Quote from Alex on March 29, 2024, 4:23 am@jiri Moving out sounds good hope it goes well for you. I"m 1.5 days into the fast and woke up today feeling quite nauseous, I don't know if that means I should stop or continue. I also did some dry brushing for lymphatic system and that made me feel nauseous like crazy and usually it doesn't. Online says nausea from fasting is a sign of dehydration and means you should end your fast, I tried some potassium chloride and salt just now but hasn't made me feel much better.
