@joseph-6 " If he did not believe that one must live for something, he would not live."

For most people this is true. For example Japan people have name for it https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ikigai and I fully agree with this concept.

At the end of the day it is up to each individual where he finds his meaning for his life. What I really hate about religion and vegans for example HEHE LOL.

That they go around and push their ideas on others. In case of religion it is not just annoying as vegans. But it cause insane amount of suffering for literally nothing.  If I really love something about this day and age is that you can do whatever you want. You can believe in whatever you want(unless you live in places like North Korea lol)  and as long as you don't negatively effect other people with what you o. Nobody should tell you how you should live your life. Well maybe parents if you live in their house and they feed you hehe.

Simply just because people who decided to believe in some religion to have easier time to cope with this reality doesn't mean that everyone needs to do that.

Btw I never even needed to believe in some religion to have some moral code. I was thinking ok so how I will live this life. What ultimately matters at the end of the day. I think ultimately what matters is if you are a good person. Person who always tried to do the right thing even if it means that it doesn't benefit me or even hurt me.

Btw who you want around you. People who don't believe in god, but believe in simple fact that we should try our best to be good people who help each other during the short time we have left here or do you want around religious people who believe in some book and bend the words from that book as they need?

Do you want to left your kid with a good person or priest who would love to rape your kid? Just asking..

Anyways sorry for my comments about religion on this forum I am done with it..

@joseph

There are other choices.  There are always other choices.  Especially when one sets down whatever book / script they have been told they MUST read from and believe or die and go to a scary place forever.

Got to love the Russians.  Wonder what the censored authors who we never got to see wrote.

Not sure why but it brought to mind a trope I liked.  Bravery is not a lack of fear.  It is doing what needs to be done in spite of fear.  Betting that the math behind that logic applies to everything good that we do.

See what you present is fully explained by the guy I posted about Frank Turek. You are of the opinion let everyone live their life how they see fit,  live by their own truth. Okay well what if your neighbor's truth means he likes to go around flashing little boys? What gives you the right to tell him he's wrong? He's living his own truth! Who defines what is moral and what is not? You are claiming it's just inherent in everyone. No, it isn't. Just look around the world, a universal moral code that everyone abides by is not being followed, people LOVE to sin. They do it all day everyday. You are saying well who cares as long as it doesn't effect me? HA!!!!!

Why would you say Christianity is annoying when it is literally the foundation of every good thing?! The abolishing of slavery, the security of marriage and families, the definition of love  and charity which is:

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always bears, always trusts, always hopes, always endures.

Is it appropriate let alone accurate to tell someone what their opinions are?  What you inferred about his statements are completely different from what I inferred.  He carefully stated - as long as no one else is negatively affected.

That's living in fantasy land. How have people behaved for all of human history?  So I ask who is defining morality? When God gave Moses the ten commandments  people were living like animals. Thou shalt not kill was from God not man. Thou shalt not commit adultery was from God not man. Thou shalt not steal was from God not man. Man loves to sin, but most of us have been brought up to know Christian values thanks to missionaries travelling from town to town ever since the resurrection, I think we are all forgetting that the society we have now is thanks to Christianity. That's why studying the Bible is so important and why Jordan Peterson - to get back on topic - preaches Christian ideals, because no where is any other truth so profound and life changing. Hedonistic societies crumble as we are seeing today with the destruction of Christian ideals.

Maybe I take this too personally.  Last time I checked I am a man.  Have been for awhile.  I do not nor have I ever loved to sin.  I sure have sinned.  Love is the absolute worst word to describe what I felt.

As to who said what where and when, I was not there.  Kind of doubt anyone else here was either.  I do know that stories have been handed down.  I also know some were written down.  And translated.  And translated.  And reinterpreted.  And translated.  And edited.  And on.  If you trust what you have read in bibles, suggest you read a few different versions from a few different periods.  Reading the Scofield (and its full history) makes the best case for this argument.

Besides all these doubts about what Word has come down to us, my trust in documents is inversely proportionateto the level of wealth and power of the folk purporting those documents to be accurate.  A review of the history of the amendments and deletions to our holy books is recommended.

@joe2 hehe exactly I think good comparison to what you said is that whispering game "telephone game" where players pass on from one person to another something with whispering. Like nature of humans what can go wrong right hehe..

Almost like writing and reading on a blog about diet and nutrition eh?

false. Is it not a game of telephone. Errors have not changed the meaning of the text. If you can name one error that changed the meaning of Christianity and our history I'd be glad to read about it!

The readings the kids brought up with JP:  Kill that far-away country's people, slaughter their animals, take slaves etc?

Shouldn't those readings have been cut away by now?   Were those readings ever of God?    Weren't they always about survival and competition and dog-eat-dog?
