Yes, my diet was high in vitamin a after accutane. Mainly sweet potatoes and experimenting with fish liver oil vitamin a for maybe a year. I only got cherry angiomas when I took accutane, never in my life have I got ANY cherry angiomas when I was accutane free.

@lil-chick When I was young my face was very symmetrical but as I got into my 40s I’d noticed that my eyes were unbalanced & my dentist said that my jaw was asymmetrical - whatever that means. I was surprised as I’d always been so symmetrical (& a bit vain
). I was looking in the mirror the other day & I thought that I was looking much more symmetrical again. I don’t think that it’s just my imagination.
@jaj Did you do anything different with posture, mouth or breathing habits, sleeping position or anything? Just curious!

Quote from leap7 on June 5, 2020, 3:37 pm@jaj that’s really interesting. If you don’t mind sharing, do you know around how long you were on the detox before you noticed your jaw relaxed? Did your jaw muscles become visibly smaller?
an update: I think biotin helps with my delayed phase sleep. I’ve been taking a 10,000 mcg biotin supplement and although initially I didn’t feel any different, it really regulated my sleep schedule. As I mentioned in my first point, I’ve been dealing with what I think was delayed sleep phase disorder: falling asleep around 5 or 6 am and waking up around 2 or 3 pm. On biotin, I got sleepy at around 12 am and woke up around 8 am which was really surprising for me. However, on days when I have some caffeine via RedBull, I return to my delayed sleep schedule. It seems like my tolerance for caffeine has really decreased.
also, I recently started taking a b complex. After the success with the biotin, I began wondering if I was missing out on any other important b vitamins. With the b complex, I got tired a bit earlier and woke up about an hour earlier, however this might just be natural variation. However, a big negative is the b complex makes me very very irritable. I get angry, frustrated, or upset at very small things.
any thoughts?

I get this reaction from anything that stimulates my detoxing. If I take or do anything that mobilises toxins or take a supplement that I believe I was deficient in that is a key component in detoxing (eg a mineral or vitmin needed for liver enzymes to function). I suspect that when my body gets something that it needs to eliminate toxins it triggers a release of toxins and that is what causes the symptoms. I take it as a sign that my body is starting to work clearing the backed up housekeeping jobs. It can be very unpleasant though. It often has a different quality to normal anger etc. I know I'm over-reacting but I feel as if my emotional responses have been hijacked.
I tend to take a break from what I was doing if the anger etc it too bad for me to cope with and then restart but very slowly and gradually to keep it at manageable levels.
I also tend to get jaw pain and increased thirst alongside the emotional stuff.

Quote from leap7 on June 6, 2020, 2:43 amThanks @rachel, good to hear I’m not alone 🙂 it does feel like the emotional response is hijacked! I found myself scrunching up my face a lot in frustration when I never really did that before. And yea, now that you mention it, I did feel quite thirsty. I also started craving sweets. I actually had an egg and some dark chocolate, and some apple juice later in the day. That calmed me down for a bit- perhaps slowing down detoxification? Maybe next time I’ll try some activated charcoal.
has this effect decreased for you over time, or do you still feel the same intensity of emotions when this happens?

Long story short - feeling better emotionally. Still flipping out at times. Magnitude likely decreasing but several factors could be at play.
Long story long - It's difficult to answer that one. I would say it has decreased recently but I am also doing some work on my stress response and trauma which is possibly also helping. (I think that is gradually lowering my baseline stress levels which means that when I do get this type of detox reaction it doesn't shoot up so high if that makes sense.)
I also think that adding soluble fibre to my regime is helping. Another factor is that I've simply become more cagey in my approach. I know that I am super sensitive to any intervention so I am very cautious in how I do things. If general advice is for sensitive people to start at x dose, I will start at at quarter of this or less. Often advice is to increase the amount every 3 days. I start out increasing every 5 - 7 days. If I'm ok I'll gradually increase with bigger increments and decrease the interval between increases.
I have had so many horrible emotional reactions (I often get terrible headaches along side which I forgot to mention) that I try my best to avoid them.
I would love to be a jump right in person and ride the storm to make rapid progress but I simply do not cope well with the emotional consequences so have become a dip a toe in the water and slowly inch in person.
Activated charcoal is helpful for me. I've used it mostly for physical symptoms. I don't know why I haven't used it more for the emotional ones, I think it simply hasn't occured to me.
Do you take niacin? A practitioner long before I went low VA suggested taking small amount of niacin whenever I was experiencing an anger flare and it does work. I had some low dose lozenges that I held in my mouth until disolved - would feel effects in 15 - 20 minutes. Might be worth a try.
I take niacin regularly now and it has helped my overall mental health. It's necessary for your liver enzymes too which may be part of why it helps me.

Quote from leap7 on June 6, 2020, 11:49 pm@rachel That’s interesting about the niacin- the b complex I’ve started taking has about 20 mg niacin. I actually tried the b complex again today but didn’t have the same severe emotional reaction. A similar thing happened when I started taking b1 - I felt irritable when I first started taking it, but this effect went away. I’m guessing this will happen with the b complex as well.

Quote from Ourania on June 8, 2020, 8:26 am@leap7 I had completely forgotten to say this:
About twenty years ago (I was suffering from VA poisoning but had no idea), I started to have a problem with my jaw. The articulation on the right side would pop out when I yawned too wide and sometimes it was difficult to put it back.
The dentist said it might be osteoporosis. A couple of years later I took a lot of Vitamin K2 as MK4 on the advice of a Japanese doctor. A lot of my problems went away, including the jaw problem.
Of course later I was hit by massive VA detox and I stopped everything.
I think the Vitamin K fixed my jaw. Maybe it was osteoporosis. Maybe a collagen problem. Certainly now my jaw is still OK. In fact I had completely forgotten about it.

Something else I wanted to bring up: before the detox, I used to never really have allergies, but now I seem to experience a lot of sneezing, mucus, and a swollen feeling in my head and face. It happens quite often. I know other people have mentioned increased allergies after starting the detox.
