Quote from leap7 on May 30, 2020, 12:24 am@jaj That's interesting! Was it because of the mouthguard that your jaw was able to relax, or was it the low VA diet that helped, or both? Did you also have bulkier jaw muscles?
I'm gonna hold on to the idea that my jaw muscles can be relaxed through the low VA diet somehow. It's one of the most positive/encouraging things I've experienced while on the detox so far. I'm hypothesizing that maybe as the VA gets detoxed, more magnesium/potassium/other minerals can be utilized to help my jaw muscles properly relax. Or, maybe it's even slowly fixing structural issues. Or it might be a nerve problem. I don't know.
Also, I recently developed a dark spot on my nose. I'm not sure what it is. It's flat, but not opaque or even that dark. It's like a light brown color. It's quite small, like the size of a freckle, but still noticeable. I don't like it, so this is kind of discouraging. Could it be detox? Could it be from consuming PUFAs?
I've been trying to dab some apple cider vinegar on this dark spot and a few moles I have on my body. So far I have not had any progress, but I think I might try covering it with an ACV-soaked cotton ball taped overnight.

Quote from Jenny on May 30, 2020, 1:06 am@leap7 it wasn’t the mouthguard because I couldn’t bear wearing it so gave up with it after only about a week several years ago (I used to lie to my dentist but I’ll be honest here 🤣). The change correlated with going low A. I can find no other explanation. I’d had the jaw tension for many years.
@lil-chick When I was young my face was very symmetrical but as I got into my 40s I’d noticed that my eyes were unbalanced & my dentist said that my jaw was asymmetrical - whatever that means. I was surprised as I’d always been so symmetrical (& a bit vain 🤣). I was looking in the mirror the other day & I thought that I was looking much more symmetrical again. I don’t think that it’s just my imagination.

Quote from Jenny on May 30, 2020, 1:17 am@leap7 I’ve read that apple cider vinegar is good for blemishes. I’m going to try it on cherry angiomas (those little red dots that are supposed to be just ‘ageing’). 2.5 years ago before I knew about vA toxicity I had a VERY stressful day with my Mum in a hospital & that night I noticed 40 or so red dots all over my body that hadn’t been there before. My GP said it was just ageing & I said ‘one day ageing’ & she just shrugged & said I’d probably only just noticed them WHAT!!! I knew it was due to stress. I now think stress equals a vitamin A dump in toxic people. I’m guessing the vitamin A detox can cause skin blemishes too. For me it seems to be these little red dots (yuk). I’ve now got a new one over my eye. I’m wondering if sunbathing has started a mini dump from the eye. Who knows. Annoying.

Quote from Ourania on May 30, 2020, 1:33 am@jaj Do not worry about cherry angiomas. In my forties when things started to go wrong (unbeknownst to me) I got plenty.
I just checked : they have ALL gone, even some biggish ones. This is because of thiamine or Lack of Vitamin A. I suspect thiamine helps vitamin A go away, which improves vitamin K status.
Anyway, no need to do anything. I hated them so much at the time. Strange that I had not noticed they were gone.
THANK YOU!!!!!

Quote from Jenny on May 30, 2020, 2:02 amExcellent news @ourania - for you & hope for me 😀 How much thiamine do you take? For how long? I’ve been taking 50mg allithiamine on & off. I worry about supplements (the vitamin A debacle has scarred me!) and decide to get all my nutrition from food & then I change my mind & take some Bs again!! Indecision.

Quote from Ourania on May 30, 2020, 2:19 am@jaj I took quite a lot of thiamine for two-three years and it helped. Now I do as you do, about 50 mg TTFD (Allithiamine or Lipothiamine), sometimes 200 mg Sulbutiamine, not more than once or twice a week total.
I also want to take my vitamins from food. Grant's recovery is an inspiration. Also I think that I want to progress as much as possible this way. I suspect that in the long run lots of stuff will get better. Anyway, cherry angiomas are GONE! They obviously were a sign that something was very wrong. But doctors kept telling me they were normal and it was normal to get old.
And I PAID for these doctors' consultations!

Quote from Jenny on May 30, 2020, 2:23 am@ourania I’m very reassured by your story that the red dots will go in time 😀 Thank you. At least my doctor’s (hopeless) advice was free (NHS)!!

Quote from Sam on May 30, 2020, 4:23 amThe whole time when I took isotretinoin I got cherry angiomas all over my body and when I stopped taking it, I no longer got any new angiomas. It's has been about ten years since stopping isotretinoin and the total amount of new cherry angiomas has been ZERO! And I used to get new cherry angiomas every week. I went to dermatologist almost every month to get the new ones removed because they bothered me so much.

Quote from Jiří on May 30, 2020, 4:30 am@samuli and was your diet after accutane high in vit A? Like some paleo diet full of liver, egg yolks, sweet potatoes etc.?

Quote from Jenny on May 30, 2020, 4:32 am@samuli that is so interesting. More evidence linking them to vitamin A toxicity or perhaps a deficiency that vitamin A toxicity induces, which amounts to the same thing. It all adds up to getting rid of the toxicity improving skin issues. Fingers crossed.
