muscles: they're just extremely tight. s4-s5 bulging disc one day at xfit, super tight psoas as well as every single muscle in my body. i'd spend hours doing active release technique and i finally got results with the most effective muscle loosening, but it's just all calcification of muscles directly/indirectly? from vitamin A.

taurine is one of the only supplements i continue to take. 1g in AM, 500mg in PM. decreases my dandruff A LOT, so i continue to take it for now. i think my body uses it all up to conjugate to vitamin A to make retinotaurine (supposedly inactive) and that gets excreted in the bile.

I have taken taurine 4500 mg per day for a month now and two days ago my saliva started to taste like taurine 24/7. I have to say I like the taste, it's quite refreshing. 🙂

I think when we have large jaw muscles it is often the result of an overbite, underbite or asymmetry. It could definitely have other causes though.

I doubt you would notice any obvious effect from taking taurine, the benefit would be assisting VA detox over time.

I have some Red Bull in the fridge and have a couple every week, I might try to keep up the habit as long as I'm detoxing VA.

I don't take any supplements apart from a small amount of Vitamin D. I'm going to avoid Vit D in the future though and just get it from sunbathing.

There are lots of problems with supplements: Doses too high, impurities, doses can be different from the packet, enantiomers present that don't occur in nature etc. My intuition tells me to avoid them. Whenever I do take them they never seem to do anything positive.

In cronometer and using my own knowledge I designed a diet that is high in everything expect VA.

Yep we just need to be patient with VA detox.

It is recommended to not go over 3000 mg, personally I wouldn't take more than 500 mg. Sounds like you're doing with taurine what you did with Vitamin D...

I'm taking larger doses of taurine just for a little while to saturate my tissues fast. It has bee proven in multiple studies that taking larger doses saturates tissues faster and gets you benefits faster with no toxicity. People with heart problems take 6000 mg of taurine for their whole life with no problems. It's your life, you can choose to be a turtle or a cheetah, I don't judge.

Here's a little something what taurine can do for you, it's mind blowing.

@tim-2 That's interesting about the asymmetry - I have heard that idea too. I did have braces when I was younger. My teeth look straight from the outside, but my wisdom teeth are impacted. I've also heard that braces ultimately can harm facial development in the long run.

I think a few weeks into starting the detox, my wisdom teeth started erupting more. The bottom left gave me pain for the whole day. This could be a coincidence though, since I'm only 20.

I was wearing mouth guards at night on the days when my jaw muscles significantly relaxed. I wonder if the mouth guards were able to correct the asymmetry/misaligned bite enough to allow the muscles to completely relax? But the muscles would go back to normal even if I was wearing a mouth guard, so I don't know. Maybe I should invest in a custom retainer/mouthguard from the dentist/orthodontist. I've also thought about seeing a chiropractor.

I do also notice muscle twitches around my body sometimes, like in my legs. Something I've also noticed is pain in my hips, especially when I'm laying down about to go to bed.

@leap7

Unfortunately with structural issues you can spend thousands of hours researching and thousands of dollars and get nothing out of it, sometimes a better option can be to just accept the issue and live life without focusing on it.

There are two modalities that can make changes to cranial issues, cranial osteopathy and neuro cranial restructuring. I see far more potential in neuro cranial restructuring however I'm not recommending it, just saying I think it does have potential in theory.

I can't imagine how a plastic retainer would be useful or would be something you'd want to do long term.

I would recommend avoiding a regular orthodontist. A functional orthodontist that doesn't pull teeth but uses appliances to widen the jaw to create more space for the teeth is a better bet because he has more understanding, even if you have already had orthodontic treatment.

I don’t know if relevant here but before the Vit A detox I continually clenched my jaw. My dentist was always going on about this &  me grinding my teeth. I’d broken a few teeth which needed crowns & he’d made a night guard for me. My jaw is now completely relaxed. This was not something I expected. My face also looks more symmetrical again - like it used to. Weird stuff.

Yes, I can second that jaw clenching and jaw discomfort seem to be a part of what I'm going through.  (I'm sorry I'm not up to speed on this entire thread, but saw JAJ's comment and thought I'd second it.)

Grant talked about a woman whose jaw straightened after going low VA.

I've got a little note to myself "be symmetric" under my screen.  I try to also remind myself to have good mouth habits.  I posted a while back about Dr. Mew and his mouth habit ideas.  I gave up his tongue position, it just didn't work out for me, and it didn't work out for another person in my family.  (although it is very important not to be thrusting the tongue forward)  However, I think his ideas about posture (chin parallel to the floor; stand and sit straight ie pretend you are being pulled upward by the back of your head; keep Mouth closed, teeth together or close; shoulders back) are all beneficial.

I think part of the very long term problems result in "crookedness".  This isn't new to humanity, although I think it was expected only when people got older.

There was a crooked man and he had a crooked smile
He had a crooked sixpence and he walked a crooked mile.
He had a crooked cat and a crooked little mouse,
They all lived together in a crooked little house.
Well this crooked little man and his crooked little smile
He took his crooked sixpence and he walked a crooked mile.
He bought some crooked nails and a crooked little bat
And he tried to fix his roof with a rat-tat-tat-tat-tat
