Long term vitA toleration with low A diet
Quote from Guest on February 3, 2019, 3:09 pmDino, didnt you say you are young and athletic with generally good health? I don't even see the reason why you would be interested in this diet or how you would be aware of it at all. I am sure you were eating a reasonable balanced diet. Last year, i was mislead into eating more liver, raw eggs and increasing my saturated fat intake. I am relatively young too. I used to have no reactions to food and had very good health. Eating liver regularly wrecked me and that was in the summer too I was getting sun and K2 from butter and supplement (supposedly one of the better ones) . Guess what I ended up developing some of the worst pains and skin issues and food allergies of my life.
I am not sure if I buy into your k2 theory. I have tried also eating plenty of sauerkraut before this diet. I got worse actually. I am only doing good now on low VA and adding omega 6 oils. If I had kept a reasonable diet and added liver once a week would my symptoms have escalated this quickly?? I doubt it. I probably wouldn't have felt any problems for years but in my head it's clear VA is a poison at any dose its just a matter of accumulation
You bring a good point about grant lutein experience. Grant, like some users here, seem almost absurdly hypersensitive to food to the point where he can distinguish reactions immediately. I am not like that I can eat anything or take any supplement and feel fine it just takes time to build up.
Maybe we have to consider age. Maybe as you get older your tolerance is much lower as liver decreases in size. I doubt it. Personally I meat eat some cheese or eggs here and there in the future along with some fruits but things like liver and sweet potatoes I am not touching ever again. - Ron

I asked myself the same question as I always ate and tolerated vit A without problems while some family members not. I have made a post named "Vitamin K2" where I talk about that. The best answer so far for me would be that the A causes problems only when you have depleted your K2 levels and/or are filled with aluminum within your tissues. The "cure" would then be to deplete your excess A while at the same time increasing K2 within your tissues and detoxing your aluminum stores.
Best,
Dino
How do you detox aluminum and what foods do you eat for K2? Please respond.

Quote from Guest on February 5, 2019, 3:52 pmI'm beginning to suspect that there might be some kind of environmental requirement for VA to be harmful. Or at least something that makes it a lot more toxic. Jack Kruse wrote some interesting things about retinol but most of it went above my head. He seems to think VA becomes a problem when exposed to blue light (all the screens).
All opsins are linked to retinol which is vitamin A. When artificial blue light is prominent the retinol disassociates from the opsin and the opsin and DHA complex is no longer functional. This lowers Vitamin recycling, DHA recycling, and proton recycling in the TCA/urea cycle via Kreb's bicycle. This is what causes the breakdown in the circadian mechanism. As Vitamin A cycle becomes extinguished by the chronicity of the blue light, its thermodynamic coupler, Vitamin sulfated D3 also drops in kind. This mimics the example I have often given about the relationship between predator and prey. Whatever is done to one side eventually occurs to the other side.

Quote from somuch4food on February 5, 2019, 5:14 pmThat's something I was suspecting. Since retinoic acid reacts to sunlight, it could very well react to blue light.
There might have some interaction with EMF, but I haven't looked into it much.
PS: Dr. Smith has found evidence of Hypervitaminosis A in paleolithic remains. So, modern life could intensify the problem, but it has always existed.

When I read that about the Paleolithic remains I was blown away. I'm sure there are many things in our modern environment making it worse though.

Well it does prove that megadosing vitamin A has always been toxic, liver has always been toxic. But it doesn't offer an explanation as to why eating a piece of chicken or a fruit would cause vitamin A symptoms even after being on a low VA diet for a long time. I think it's interesting that most of those remains seem to be from the arctic, where the light conditions are completely different from anywhere else in the world.

Quote from Guest on February 6, 2019, 5:54 amNo 11: the reason I am looking all this is because I have family members who have health problems and yes they respond well to low vit A. I also apply the diet so we all eat the same yet have seen no difference on my health which has always been excellent anyway. I have met entire tribes/people who eat lots of A without problem even in old age and it is also my case even if I am still quite young. I dont doubt A can be (or is) toxic in itself what I wonder is what is it that protects some people me included while not others. Cholesterol, vit K2, low or undetectable levels of aluminum etc. may be the answer thats why I try to figure that out.
To detox aluminum I guess DMPS is good or drinking lot of Volvic or other silica rich water.
For K2 increase without A I guess beef/rice/sauerkraut alone should do it.
Best,
Dino
