Low vitamin D after over half year on diet
Quote from bludicka on October 25, 2019, 10:35 amAnybody here who has a low vitamin D on this diet after 6-7 months?
I had the suspicion that besides the copper deficit, I also lack the vitamin D - because I started to have more intensive bone, muscle pains, muscle weakness (in the past I was deficient once, four years ago and I had exactly these symptoms and vitamin D was helpful, now I know maybe this deficiency was partly because of VA toxicity). I will test my vitamin D in the next days...This summer I was not able to sunbathe regularly because of VA toxicity and very bad detox symptoms after sunbathing, but I don't think it was the main factor. As the body gets rid of VA, all biochemistry is rebalanced, the more I detox, the more the antagonistic effect of VA on some nutrients decreases and the need for some nutrients increases - copper, vitamin D....But I suppose this probably doesn't happen so dramatically if someone is not so VA toxic and some people here can tolerate the sunbathing well.I think that my vitamin D stabilizes later on this diet without the need for additional supplementation.
I started taking vitamin D 10 000 IU daily (+cofactors) and I have a typical worsening of symptoms at the beginning, I had this in the past, and then it slowly began to improve.
I think in my case the approach of dr. Garrett Smith will not work - wait until the body itself regulates vitamin D on low VA diet. The more toxic a person is, the more the body needs support and supply the missing nutrients, otherwise it will only prolong the suffering and some people then give up with this diet.
And in my opinion some people need vitamin D supplementation - for various reasons, one of my friend takes drugs for epilepsy and these drugs directly reduce the body's vitamin D (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4149948/).
Befor low VA diet, my vitamin D level was 34,3 ng/ml and I suplemented only for one month. On low VA diet I stopped the suplementation.
