@wavygravygadzooks and @carnivore - This is the conventional explanation for the dairy craving:

Many people are afraid to eat calcium because of the name "calcium oxalate stones." However, calcium binds oxalate in the intestines. A diet rich in calcium helps reduce the amount of oxalate being absorbed by your body, so stones are less likely to form.

@liz  I was just thinking about you the other day, and wondering how you were doing. 😊 Glad to read an update! Hoping this new low-oxalate direction brings increased physical relief! 💛☀️🙏

Normal amounts of oxalates in the diet don't cause poor kidney function but poor kidney function can definitely cause problems processing oxalates. Thousands of different plant anti nutrients are consumed in a standard omnivorous diet but none of them normally cause any issue, our body is designed to process all of them. They tend to cause an issue when our gut, liver, kidney, thyroid or immune system is impaired in some way. They aren't the root cause of health problems.

I do recommend getting most calories from meat, animal fat, refined starch and sugar though, that's what most people instinctively do and it reduces our intake of plant anti nutrients.

Many anti nutrients have beneficial effects in conservative amounts. For example quercetin found in fruit can help to lower DHT levels. Phytic acid is beneficial as long as it isn't consumed in excess. Lycopene (does not convert into vitamin A) the main carotenoid found in tomatoes and watermelon has a range of beneficial effects in moderation. That doesn't mean I consume tomato freely but I don't strictly avoid small amounts of tomato sauce either.

@puddleduck I agree that calcium is beneficial to bind plant toxins/acids like oxalates. However, I don't think that the calcium in dairy products is the reason for cravings, otherwise people could as well crave calcium supplements or hard water. It could add to it, yes, but I think @wavygravygadzooks is right that there are opioids in dairy that - apart from the carbohydrate content - lead to cravings.

@tim-2 This is false and dangerous misinformation that you are posting here. Any plant food is toxic to humans and only the dose makes the severity of the poison. If plants in a standard omnivorous diet were safe we wouldn't see so many (or any, for that matter) degenerative diseases in omnivorous humans. Fact is that plants are full of anti-nutrients with regard to human consumption and no plant is safe. Some are less toxic than others, especially fermented foods, but none are healthy. Plants do not belong in the human body. Humans thrive on animal products and all plants cause harm to some degree. The severity only depends on the plant and the amount of it that is eaten. To proclaim anything else is the misguided reasoning of a mind intoxicated by plant food and disturbed by its carbohydrate-craving drug addiction. Extreme examples for this are vegans and the insanity of their reasoning but to a lesser degree all plant-eaters can be considered in-sane compared to the perfect health of a carnivorous human.

@carnivore People can and do crave mineral supplements and/or hard water, but only if they have access to hard water on a regular basis and regularly taste their supplements. That’s what I do, and if the taste offends me over time? I stop the supplement. Sometimes I will crave a supplement I have forgotten to take. It’s quite a useful innate system. There could be multiple contributing factors though, yeah. 👍

Anyway, try not to derail Liz’s log with a carnivore debate, eh? 😂🙏 This thread is primarily for Liz to share updates. ❤️

@puddleduck Sorry, it was not my intention to derail the thread.

As for supplements, you are probably right. I can't say that I have any cravings for supplements but I'll keep an open mind about possible deficiencies on a meat/butter/mineral water diet. I would be suprised but one never knows.

Hey Carnivore, you sure are convinced!

@lil-chick Yes I am, 100%. Try it for yourself if you haven't yet and you can be, too. You won't want to go back after carb addiction is healed and your body no longer has to process antinutrients every single day.

@tim-2 i agere, normal amounts of oxalate does not damage kidneys. However I have had A VERY high px and VERY high A diet for MANY years. Also while on low A had my kidney intubated and had to take several rounds of antibiotics in just 6 months. That type did kill off oxalobacter, as I looked it up when I noticed I all of a sudden got kidney pain from a small piece of dark chocolate. I land off ox foods for a while but for some reason forgot all about it, went whole grain and bean full retard and then nuts and dark chocolate for some reason got back into my diet and shit hit the fan. This is also when my dairy cravings started for real.

Anyway. Doing a LOT better now. From daily kidney pain, joint pain, back and muscle pain and HEADACHES, to nothing anymore. Maybe a bit sore head briefly once here and there. I can focus better at work, have way less autism behavior, I have gotten better at finding my way around (I am hopeless w/o google maps for real!!) And I read a book, a whole book in one day last weekend!!! I used to be a reader so that I am excited about. Am also calmer and happier again. A little more energy. Had some weird issues appearing, such as old injuries acting up, powder skin returned a few times, I had A huge white thing coming out from my lower eyelid hurtig like h*ll, and some morning when I wake up, I have white very sharp and painful rods/crystals around my eyes (not the "normal" eye sand or whatever). Also, Sandy stool and weird grainy vaginal discharge (not fungus). I have had weird smells coming and going, and worst of all, the worst constipation of my life. I only got the same reaction to morphines and adhd drugs.

Basically my poo has been rock hard white/pale lumps. No smell what so ever. Great, cholestatis was my immediate thought but I do eat a fair amount of dairy, although way less now than in the beginning. But cholestasis from ny reading also gives other symptoms like very smelly stool and itchy skin/eczema which I do not have. I very rarely have smelly stool or itchy skin anymore.

Diet was/is mainly muscle meat, dairy, lemonade, white bread, white rice, the odd egg and some grape/banana/pineapple. Lately adding a bit of oats and more eggs. Some butter for pancakes else fry in evoo. If adding psyllium, i get orange cream with the gut concrete (weird combo). Nothing has really helped the concrete. I used to eat a lot of fibre. And lot of ox. Well yesterday I did have one cup of garbanzos with my chicken because I really missed them, and it went well. Until my legs started itching really bad within like 15 minutes. I also woke up next morning feeling very very tired (too much copper in one go probably)

Well tonight, about 24h later, i almost killed my toilet. It was huge, foul and orange. Part firm, part cream, part soup. Talk about a massive bile dump 🤣😅.

Egg update #1

Edit: sorry for weird words. My autocorrect does not know english 😂

I have had some weird shit going on, before I forget I'll write them down.

Been eating daily eggs for a few weeks, lately 2-4 a day (fried, boiled, pancakes, in foods)

  • Pimples on right cheek only (and some on my back).
  • Horribly dry feet with sharp skin "thorns" and what looks like cracks on my heels. Edit: I tend to get this aldo if I overdo milk protein (low fat or higher fat doesn't matter, it's the same)
  • Very dry skin in my face, esp forehead. Dryer skin on legs. Powder a few times
  • Blurry vision esp at the beginning. It has calmed down.
  • Horrible word and name recall
  • Gut and stomach aches when/after eating (new). Sometimes from the liver area.
  • Bouts of uterus pain (don't know if it is endo or not, as my endo is silent)
  • Itchy legs back and forth. Haven't had in a long time. Sometimes itch on fingers and arms.

Also:

  • I think better, or deeper sleep. I sleep faster, wake up rested (except if I have beans at dinner, then I wake up feeling tired)
  • Better digestion for sure. I do take a probiotic atm as well, but this is different. Less bloat and when I bloat it goes away much faster
  • I think taurine is working better when I take it.
  • Sweet tooth has reduced a lot. I have bought ice cream only once since starting the egg-sperminet.
  • I get the urge to go more often. Even though still constipated. Yesterday I pooped twice, in the morning and afternoon. This morning I went again. I usually only go in the morning.
  • Maybe maybe a bit less hair shed, but too soon to tell I think

I mainly eat,  besides from eggs, skimmed milk, home made bread (often sourdough), oatmeal/oat bran meal/rye meal. Muscle meats. Rice. Pasta. Some fruits (banana, Apple, pear, grapes, occational berries). Popcorn. Cheese a 1-2 times a week or so. Sometimes onions and garlic, cucumbers. Thin layer butter on bread. Fry in Olive oil. Pickles. Lingonberry Jam when I have meat and gravy (it's a swedish thing). Very occationally pickled herring (also a swedish thing) when I crave it. Home made cookies and sponge from time to time.

When eating with friends/family I have what they have, except for colorful veggies, liver and such. I don't touch that. But like pasta bolognese, with ketchup (living on the edge 😎) AND cheese. Or the occational potato.

I did the bean test again, one can of chickpeas, and this time like 20h later (so while at work) the intense urge to go accompanied by a horrible gut ache, although not as violent as last time, but still foul smell, but less foul than last time (usually my poop doesn't smell anything). Beans daily constipates me and also bloats me.

I would not mind quitting the meat and eating eggs instead 🤷‍♀️

I thought I was going to wait a year until my next update but my improvements are so wonderful that I need to share.

In november I reached out to Karen Hurd. For my case, I was put on psyllium instead of beans, as I couldn't eat beans. I have kept my own previous knowledge, discaeded her "veggies 3 times a day" advice, and I went full retard with the psyllium after reading this: https://www.karenhurd.com/the-green-dragon.html

It's been 2 months. My improvements are insane!

Edit: cutting out A was a HUGE game changer and the start of it all. Cutting out ox was also a game channger (in my case). Adding in eggs has for sure been positive but the missing piece has been SOLUBLE FIBRE to bind and transport all that shit OUT again. Not one time or two a day. But as many times as I can stomach basically.

  • Awesome digestion
  • Better focus
  • HAPPIER
  • CALMER
  • No more anxiety
  • No more worries
  • No more Brown vaginal discharge = endo is healing
  • No more kidney pain or painful back when eating anything with oxalates = gut is healing (maybe kidneys too)
  • I can drive a car without stress
  • I No longer sweat small stuff that used to worry or stress me
  • More compassion for other people, also people I don't like
  • Hair is growing in thicker again, less shedding (has been a major issue for years)
  • I read 3 books in 3 days without taking constant breaks or getting mentally exhausted (haven't done that in 15+ years)
  • Completely lost intetest in anything health related, because I have FINALLY found the solution, which I did not understand fully previously: soluble fiber.
  • I actually have a cycle now, despite being on Mirena, which is insane, and a proof those little fibers are binding to excess hormones and other waste, i.e. WORKING
  • I can tolerate red stuff again without itchy throat and coughing for an hour.
  • Probably more stuff I cannot think of right now.

Now to some detox stuff:

  • After 3-4 weeks I got a full blown acne breakout on my right cheek only. It's been there about a month now. It's weird and annoying bit just have to wait it out.
  • Dry skin comes and goes, like before.
  • My feet are worse than ever. Thick layers of dead skin piles up and now also deep thick flakes of skin on the sides. I cannot peel them off as they are deep and painful. I take a foot bath with bicarbonate to peel it off when it gets too much.
  • I now often wake up around 4am but a shot of psyllium helps me fall asleep within 15 minutes.

Probably more stuff but overall, I feel GREAT!! I fill 2 bottles of psyllium goo for work, and take a zip every 20 minutes (1/2 tsp flakes or 2 tbsb beans) or as I remember/am available. If I feel stressed at work, I take psyllium. It helps really fast. Beans would of course be better due to nutrients and I might soon be able to.

Karen said psyllium 3 months, then check endo/kidneys with doctor, have mirena removed and stay on the protocol untill healed, which for the hardest cases takes up to 2 years.

Other things of karens work I have implemented is NO EXERCISE which I had already given up, but now I understand why. I have also quit my daily walks (because it was an obsession sort of). Anything stressful I have cut out, and being much more tuned in to. And if under stress, I chug down psyllium. Also I eat No sugar regularly antmore not even fruit. No dairy, No stimulants of any kind (tea, herbal teas, coffee, chocolate etc). That's basically it.

Yesterday I had pizza and chocolate and ice cream together with a friend because I needed a normal day. I woke up with a stuffed nose and some oxalate eye-crust but felt fine. 2 months ago the chocolate would have caused painful kidneys and back pain during the night.

I will update again at the end of the year, or if I get any positive results re: kidney/endo before that.

For those interested, Karen Hurd has a lot of podcasts on her site with a lot of info. It is basically, while healing be strict. When done healing keep the beans 3 times a day to maintain health for life. Don't go back to what ruined your health to begin with.

I truly believe the beans has been a key player in Grants recovery. The soluble fibre binds to everything we need to detox.

Oh, and yea I eat just as before. But have dropped the milk and sugar. I eat rice, bread, pasta, meats, some eggs, some fish, the veggies I like (cucumbers mostly). Occational ketchup and other red stuff. I have basically just added psyllium and chickpeas.
