My progress
Quote from kathy55wood on January 15, 2023, 2:52 am@liz thank you for sharing your good news! Those are a lot of amazing improvements.
And thanks especially for sharing how to "go full bore" with Karen Hurd's protocol. I'm very good at doing no exercise, lol! Plus the beans, added to low A veggies, no fruit or dairy. I think what is slowing down my progress is (1) not getting to psyllium frequently, as you are; and (2) stresses in my personal life such as unemployment and a challenging living situation. But your story shows me that I have much to look forward to!

Thanks for sharing. That’s great news. I love Karen Hurd’s protocols as they make a lot of sense.
I’ve tried three times to go full on Karen Hurd and each time it’s resulted in worsening head and neck ache. Symptoms I now associate with glutamate overload. Beans, especially from tins, are high glutamate apparently. The problem could be with some other component of beans or a reaction with my gut bacteria, I’m not 100% sure it’s glutamate, but that’s currently my best fit.
Hearing about your success with psyllium makes me want to explore doing this. I don’t think psyllium should have the same issues as beans.
I had a seizure straight after eating a high bean meal so it’s made me very wary. It may not have been a factor, but everything gets a ? over it if I did it just before I have a seizure.

Been thinking of testing psyllium again, was giving me insomnia last time with small amounts per day (1tsp)

Quote from Liz on January 15, 2023, 7:53 amStress is a HUGE thing. One thing to remember is all the outer stuff like A or glyphosate or whatever is just a drop in the ocean. The main intoxication comes from the body itself in forms of all daily hormones etc that also needs to be excreeted. Stress, especially chronic = shitloads of hormones. Without a liver one would die in like a day.
Beans are not for all at first. And she also says so. She treats different diseases differently. I had to start with psyllium due to my kidneys. Severe Crohns start with psyllium too and there it can take like a year before noticing positive relief. So patience is key. Lentils is another great option. Takes no time to Cook. Same with bean pasta (except soy bean, no soy beans!!)
Karen is a huge fan of eggs. And not a fan of veganism. Protein is key. Standard portion is 1/2 cup of beans and Palm size meat/eggs and 1/2 cup veggies 3 times a day. Minimum portion sizes. No upper limit. When sick, make that minimum 1/4 cup beans 6 times a day and for women 2 days pre-menses and 4 days after, make that 2 tbsp beans every 20 minutes.
EDIT: she is NOT low carb. Starches are optional. If you enjoy them, eat them. If not, don't. She doesn't have a portion recommendation for them because it's up to one selv. Beans and meats first, then fill up with whatever for the rest. Fats if you like, or starch if you like. Just make sure fats are kept away from beans while healing. When symptom free it is no longer an issue.
Beans must be kept 1,5h away from meals with fat because soluble fiber binds to fat as well. And no one knows how much beans/fiber binds to how much fat. So I decided to do psyllium every 20 minutes every day instead So I don't have to worry about fat in meals or not. And Karen said OK to that.
During weekends I just have a timer set to 20 minutes if I am reading or watching a movie or whatever. But weekdays I am not anal about it. Because it should not be a Stress. I usually go through 12-15 tsp of psyllium flakes a day plus extra from beans. And I chug a lot of water with that, 2-3 liters (pints 🤔) a day. And I don't think about it at all. I feel free. Now I need patience. Not looking for symptoms every day. But stopping once in a while to notice positive things. Like yesterday I was food shopping with my bff. And he has this odd habit of leaving the basket with groceries on the fluor in an aisle while looking for stuff. It used to give me anxiety. Yesterday he commented on how I had not said anything about it (because I always do) and it made me realize I had not paid any attention to it what so ever. That was pretty awesome 😍. A small thing for others. A huge thing for me. Because it used to be a cery big issue of mine.

12-15 tsp usually a day is what I do without being obsessive. She recommends 1/4 cup of beans 6x daily. And in severe cases 2 tbsp/20 minutes.
Also I do not use the powder, i use the coarse flakes. For powder the dose is 1/4 tsp (= 2 tbsp of beans) and for coarse it is 1/2 tsp.
I have gotten some sleep issues now, I tend to wake up after like 5-6 hours usually to pee. But I fall fast asleep again if I take a mouthful of goo (I always have some in a glass during the night). If I don't, it can take an hour or more to fall asleep again.
I am sure it (my issue) is some detox issue or whatever that will go away again with time.
Hope it helps 🙂
This one I will stuck out. Because people has healed from the incurable with beans. And I will too 💪

Quote from Eio on January 15, 2023, 1:42 pmIn May of 2022, I started eating 1/2 cup of black beans or pinto beans 5 times a day. I had a lot of gas and it took more than a month until they no longer gave me problems. Now I only eat 1/2 cup three times a day with meals. I think the beans have helped remove excess hormones and other toxins from the bile. My digestion is much better, too. Since I have a tendency to be constipated, when I tried to use psyllium capsules in Jan. of 2022 I became even more constipated after a few weeks. I didn't try the "liquid goo" as Liz describes it.
I am glad to hear of Liz's success.

Quote from Liz on January 17, 2023, 10:16 am@jean-2 I have tried liver flush in the past. I will not attempt one again.
I will eat real foods, drink water, and give it time. I no longer take any supplements either, except psyllium which, to be fair, is a food of sorts. But psyllium is supposed to be temporary, until I can tolerate beans.
Supplements I believe is fxxing things up even more, ending up in a viscious circle where one takes shitloads of supps and have more symptoms than ever before. Been there, done that 🤷♀️
I will also not push any coffee up my bunghole 😂I do have to stress, though, that I actually paid for one of Karen's courses. I emailed her my issues asking which one to purchase. She said to get back to her once done, and she'd give me the psyllium protocol for my issues due to my kidneys. I was/am meant to do psyllium 3 months, then I should be able to eat beans again. I'll probably stick with it longer though. After all, psyllium is what healed her daughter. Every 20 minutes for 2 months, then her daughter who was dying, was almost like her normal self again (if I remember correctly). She was a baby though. I am an adult.
When one buys one of her courses, one also get unlimited access to her and her team, for life, asking all and any questions. And she guides and helps with issues and intolerances and anything else.
What I mean by this, is my protocol might not be right for everyone 🙂 and it goes way beyond just foods. She puts big focus on minimizing all kinds of stressors, also perfumes and scents. I don't even watch exciting movies or read exciting books because I don't want to produce more stress hormones than absolutely necessary.
And she stresses protein 3 times a day. After 3 months one should start noticing improvements, but for the worst cases it can take up to a year. For Unique, who healed from Chrons, I think it took one year before she noticed any improvements at all. That was one year 100% strict after the protocol given to her for her issues. Not any "I need a normal day" bullshit like I did 😂But it is cool to be able to eat chickpeas without kidney and back pain. And the chocolate did taste absolutely divine 😍 I did stretch the chocolate and ice cream thing for 2 more days (stupidly), and yesterday I woke up feeling irritable, lingering on thoughts, endo pain, half-depressed and just off. Lesson learned: one day once in a while at the most is probably a good rule. Might have been the oxalates, but it doesn't matter. I know to stay away.
I will considered myself healed, when my diseases are gone, when my feet are smooth, my brain is working properly again, and I can eat anything and everything without any issues. 😁
As I no longer frequently roam the forum, I don't see any posts unless I am tagged (and those I only see when I check my spam filter). I will be posting updates next time I have anything of value. Good or bad.
One thing i forgot to mention in the updat post, was that most of my autistic treats seems to have improved a lot and/or gone away. People and the world (well, maybe not so much the world as it is kind of bat shit crazy to be honest) has started making sense to me 😁

Quote from Jean on January 17, 2023, 7:44 pm@liz@liz whydid you stop flushing? Did you have a negative experience?
I believe Karen's protocol and the liver flush are complementary. The bean's protocol is good for health maintenance and lifestyle, however when the toxicity is high it might take a very long time to heal. The liver flush helps speeding up the process by dumping toxic bile at a faster rate.
Which course did you end up buying? Karen is high in demand, she usually answers questions a month later.

Quote from Liz on January 18, 2023, 11:24 am@jean-2 Why did I stop? It was a one time thing, I never intended to keep going.
I did it like 20 years ago. I was friends with an alternative health nut who had me try it for some reason I cannot remember. He had me try a lot of weird shit. I don't remember getting any benefit from it, and it was kind of gross so nothing I'd like to do again unless forced to. I have had my share of pre-surgery fasting and laxating and that is about just as pleasant 🤣.
I ended up getting the endo package with Karens modifications because that is what she recommended. I have contacted her/her team several times since and I always get a reply within 48 hours.
