Oh I am, don't you worry. I have done my research π. When it comes to bicarb, less is more. There are some crazy info out there that bicarb is a "cure all hold graal farting rainbow sparkles" probably spread by the same crazy people with no understanding of the body's buffering system at all, believing the body is chronically acidic and you need to go plant based raw food vegan and eat them GREENZ to base up π€£π, and snort bicarb by the tablespoon as it will bring magic unicorns into your life yada yada.
Jokes aside, bicarb is essential, and there are a lot of interesting research on it especially on CKD. But I'd prefer to take it as is instead of a muffin, as it reacts with acids creating CO2 making it rise, and I need that reaction to happen in the body πΒ

Quote from Liz on April 14, 2023, 8:54 pmSo I wonder what role shock has in the body regarding to moving stuff around/detox/liver function.... I was in a car accident yesterday (thank God no one was hurt) and I am still in shock and I keep seeing that car coming towards me and I don't understand why it doesn't stop... I feel numb and wired at the same time. Exhausted, haven't eaten since lunch yesterday, no apetite, desperately need to sleep but cannot as I keep reliving the event. I just went to the bathroom and that is when I noticed my armpits stink... And they haven't for some time now.
Just a rant from a brain in shut down mode. I'll probably know the answer when I snap out of it.
Edit: also I am sweating and my sweat is itchy. It itches!!

Quote from Rachel on April 15, 2023, 3:12 amWhat a horrible experience.Β I hope you recover soon.Β I think shock / trauma has a massive effect.Β I used to get really stinky armpits.Β Now it only happens in periods of high stress.
Tapping on both sides of your body can help with processing traumatic events.Β One way to do it is to cross your arms with each hand on the opposite shoulder and rapidly tap oneside then the other so alternating sides.Β Might be worth trying when having flashbacks.Β (It's used with EMDR therapists - works in same way as the eye movements.)
Parts of your brain can shut down as a result of trauma and the stimulating of opposite sides of the body helps activate both sides of the brain which helps make sure events are properly processed.Β That is a laymans explanation but it's something along those lines.Β

Quote from Hermes on April 15, 2023, 10:21 amDear @liz I'm really sorry to hear what has happened to you. I've been in a car accident myself and can assure you it's very stressful and confusing. And it also sounds as if you have not been responsible for it, so you might have anger towards the driver that hit you.
What has helped me was high dose progesterone, think 100s of milligram. Progesterone protects the brain, reduces inflammation, lowers cortisol and increases thyroid hormone production, all important to get back in a parasympathetic state. You can order from this place, which I can vouch for (no unnecessary additives): http://idealabsdc.com/lab/. Scroll down a bit, and you find Progestene (that's what they call it) in the middle row. You best apply it topically to the regions which hurt: neck, head, for almost total absorption apply it to the navel button. Oral application might be problematic to some when there is SIBO involved. Not sure if you're ready to do some research, but here's an article by Ray Peat which talks about the many benefits of Progesterone: https://raypeat.com/articles/articles/epilepsy-progesterone.shtml
And here some studies which show how beneficial progesterone is to the brain:
- Physiologic progesterone reduces mitochondrial dysfunction and hippocampal cell loss after traumatic brain injury in female rats Physiologic progesterone reduces mitochondrial dysfunction and hippocampal cell loss after traumatic brain injury in female rats, https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0014488605003493
- PROGESTERONE EXERTS NEUROPROTECTIVE EFFECTS AFTER BRAIN INJURY, https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2699575/
- The Neurosteroids Progesterone and Allopregnanolone Reduce Cell Death, Gliosis, and Functional Deficits after Traumatic Brain Injury in Rats, http://s3.amazonaws.com/academia.ed...=The_Neurosteroids_Progesterone_and_Allop.pdf
Another useful supplement is Magnesium L-Threonate. It's a form of magnesium that penetrates the blood-brain-barrier. A good and reputable seller is Hansen supplements: https://www.hansensupplements.com/magnesium-l-threonate They do as 90 % of supplement manufactures produce in China but pay extra care to only work with high quality manufacturers. I've been told by Per Hansen himself in an e-mail exchange. I trust him more than Nootropics Depot which also offers Magnesium L-Threonate.

Quote from Liz on April 15, 2023, 10:49 amThank you Rachel and Hermes, stress of any kind is just so horrible and destructive. I have PTSD diagnosis from some years back so that kicked into high drive. I was a horrible mess all morning and day, reliving the events, and during the afternoon it just disappeared. And I feel fine, it was like turning on/off a switch. Tired, but fine. And then my mom told me "hey we prayed for you in church today" and that explained it all π
@christian I really appreciate your tip, and I used to believe progesrerone was a great thing and I have read so many studies about it. unfortunately progesterone really fxxed me and my endo up some years back (high dose, to keep endo symptoms at bay), it is a hormone after all and especially females should be aware. So I am staying far away. Progesterone is a very important hormone, and I know it has helped many. I loved its calming effect. But it is still just a band-aid, and worst case could cause a lot of trouble.

Quote from Inger on April 16, 2023, 4:03 am@liz, so sorry to hear.... I would probably just eat beans frequently through the day to bind and excrete the excess adrenaline... I find the beans calming in such a nice way.
I have sort of a PTSD too from a crazy life but I believe our bodies can heal so beautifully in time when we just take away the things that causes high adrenaline, and beans help so much to clear it. I love being on this journey,Β it feels like a new me is emerging, really cool π
I do think its possible that shocks would trigger a bigger bile dump...
I get you with not wanting to touch hormones. I would not either. I never have used any sort of hormones in my life and I dont want to either. Maybe thats why my libido is kinda teenage strong still at 46 even after menopause and it was pretty smooth sailing. I want to let my body sort it out naturally and support it with natural things like nude tanning, beans, low vitamin A, great nutrition, enough rest and sleep etc.

Quote from Liz on April 16, 2023, 6:47 amI agree. Fibre from beans or husk definately help with stress. I do fibre ca every 20-30 minutes and has done since november π
I haven't experienced such severe anxiety in several years, thankfully. It was a very unwelcome blast from the past...

Quote from Liz on November 9, 2023, 12:18 amSo I just had the Big Surgery. The surgeon asked me afterward, she simply couldn't fathom how on earth I had been able to function without severe pain and exhaustion looking like that on the inside. Well, the exhaustion has been real π . Just to mention a little, my transversum colon was attached to my rectum, creating an "M" form, and that part well bedded in endo tissue together with the melon-sized cyst, my ovary, bladder and well it was a shit ton of endo tissue basically everywere.
I was in the hospital for 11 days. After 7 I got to go home but være back after 6h with 40 C fever and major chills due to UTI spread to the kidney. So 4 days with IV AB, what a Joy. I am home now but the hospital fucked up and allowed my bladder to repeatedly overfill, damaging the muscles in the bladder Wall, so I am currently home with a catheter. It will HOPEFULLY be pulled come monday, and hopefully my damaged nerves will have healed So I can pee. I was probed So many times with a single-use catheter while in the hospital that my urinary tract turned into meat loaf. In other words, I have been in a lot of pain.
The Mirena is FINALLY out, and within days my acne dried up (and I thought it was caused by psyllium and/or eggs). I also lost a lot of subcutaneous bloating. And now I hope headaches wilo stay away and also for my hair to grow out. I have lost half the thickness.
Interestingly, my lips have gotten a bit flaky since the removal. It hasn't been for years. That has been one of my vA symtoms. So I wonder, how much detox has that stupid hormone coil prevented? And what will happen now?
For those of you who are believers, prayers are greatly appreciated. I just want to be able to pee again π the sooner the better. Theu say it can take a month or so before most regain nerve function. But I cannot keep probing myself for a month. It hurts too much π
Other than that, I am still on the "Tim-track", I eat a bit of everything but I stay away from the great offenders and in general stay below the RDI. I am dairy free atm to give my colon a break, as dairy tend to constipate me (as do red meat) and my guts are still healing, so pooping is very important right now.
Yeah, and also, apparently I am on the spectrum ("a typical asperger" the psychiatrist said after the test). Well at least it explains A LOT, and now I understand why my father is the way he is. And for the first time in my life, I feel normal.

You might be interested in my liver support supplementation protocol post at the bottom of this page. It's the result of a lot of research. Endometriosis is caused by liver dysfunction in my opinion. That's why insulin resistance is strongly associated with it. Feel free to ask me anything about the protocol or criticize it as much as you want.

Yeah I saw it, but I am done with protocols π . One thing I have learned, supplements has done way more damage than they have helped. A DUTCH I did 4 years ago reveal that I cannot get E3 out of my system for some reason. I am awaiting a DNA test and some supplemental blood samples to figure out if it's genetic or not. I have tortured my body with too much exercise, stress and undereating/weird unbalanced dietary protocols accompanied with a lot of supplements so if anything, my body needs rest, a lot of real food and time to balance out. My ASAT and ALAT have always bern fine, so has my thyroid, glucose (long/short term) and everything else. I am curious about my genes though, because then I will actually have something concrete to work with. Because genes can be turned on, but they can also be turned off again π
The only thing I take is NAC 3x 600mg for 3 days, 4 day break, repeat. It is a protocol from an Italien endo study which was small but with promising results. Also take GLA on my skin, and very little orally. And eat some form of fish on an almost-daily basis for EPA, as the combination EPA-GLA has been promising as well, and I have probably been deficient in fatty acids for 20 or so years.I did take ALA for a few years back in my bodybuilding days. That was before weird diets fucked me up...
