My progress

The first improvements I did notice a few years back, after a prayer meeting, actually. That is when all my really weird shit I'd rather not share went away as well. I noticed improvements after a few months 100% milk free (trace included) which was last summer. At this time I also stopped weekly liver, daily egg yolks, daily carrots and most veggies.

When I added back caseine + flax oil for a few weeks (budwig) everything went to hell, with no stress tolerance, mood swings, brain fog, poor memory, foggy vision, eczema, and that is when I really understood it must be the vit A. And that is when i started the diet full on.

Congratulations Liz for your progress!

I am just curious, what kind of fat(s) do you use for cooking, baking or frying?

Liz, what an impressive report!! Very encouraging!! Thanks for sharing!

I reread all of the posts under your "glycine" topic last night. Are you supplementing with glycine and/or other supplements? In additional to diet and exercise are you using other detox strategies?

Liz, may your health continue to improve, and may your story help others that suffer from Vitamin A toxicity.

DL

Thanks DL 😀 Yes I take glycine daily in my tea. About 5-10 grams, i am not anal with the amount. It helped me tremendeously to heal after surgery. We're talking overnight 🙂

I also take vit C (ascorbic acid), zinc, NAC, turmeric, taurine.

I accidently confused NAC for vit C one day and took quite a dose, so have had a NAC pause but started again yesterday. Same with taurine. I also take B3 now and then, and q10 because I still have a jar of it. And topical Mg sometimes after exercise when I remember.

But glycine, zinc and C are my daily staples.

Besides from that, i dont worry too much. I exercise daily, mostly "fitness blender" videos or walks, and I enjoy sauna when opportunity gives. And the sun now as well. Have not noticed any ill effect from either. I still burn though, but am not as sensitive as I was a few years back. As a kid I never burned.

I have started zeolite 3 days ago (the kind dr G recommend) , take 5-10 grams a day. Urine is cloudier and a tad foamy, and smell funky. But nothing else besides that 🙂

Thanks for your reply, Liz!   I've noticed an improvement in mood. energy levels, focus, and gut issues so far while supplementing glycine (anti-inflammatory). I've supplemented with taurine on and off for many years. Even long term supplementation with taurine never gave me noticeable results.

All the best,
DWL

Fats... Usually just a mild organic olive oil (extra virgin) very small amount if frying skinny meat. If frying mince, none at all as it usually is fattier. I have used processed too but no more as I cant find an organic one.

For baking I can use high oleic sunflower oil, organic, processed (with water steam, not chemicals) . Else I bake with butter although if I eat much of it my detox stall, and then usually I get itchy again with small rash on legs.

I also have an organic processed coconut oil from the same brand (water steamed) but back pain returns if I eat it so I usually dont.

Else i bake with almond butter sometimes.

That is exciting, improvements from glycine! Great improvements! From what I have heard, some notice improvements right away, for some it is gradually over many monts, and a few feel bad on it (I dont know why, maybe they need NAC and glutamine with it?)

I dont know if taurine has helped me or not actually. First I thought it helped me tolerate meat, but it could have been the removal of all veggies and not the taurine itself. I take it on and off still mainly because dr G is recommending it but when I run out I dont think I'll continue. I eat so much meat now I probably get enough anyway.

Edit: speaking of taurine, i just found this:

I also feel worse with lots of butter or ghee, although I like the taste very much. I used it a lot for cooking, baking and frying recently. My problems are constipation and inflamed gums. Maybe it's to much fat in general. I don't know.

Maybe I try coconut oil again for frying meat, with olive oil I am not sure because of the high heat, also I only like the taste of olive oil along with pasta or white bread.

Hi Liz

Could you post a link to the sunflower oil?  I am really struggling to find an appropriate oil and it may help if I can see what others are using.

Thanks

See Garrett Smith's Amazon carefully researched product recommendations for various oils, including sunflower, olive, avocado: https://nutritionrestored.com/blog-forum/topic/click-on-link-to-go-to-product-list-at-amazon/

Though he does not recommend cooking with sunflower oil -- or at least not frying it.

Thanks Josh.  I have Garretts vit A package I'm just having trouble finding oils / fats that fit his criteria.  The oils he recommends are not available in the UK.
