Myth: Serum Retinol is not a useful measurement of subclinical VA toxicity

I think you're right that the type of the diet you describe is more beneficial long-term than going hard on vitamin A avoidance.
Sunshine is something I consider very beneficial too, but it's not an easy thing to enjoy for rosaceans. I miss it so much from my pre-rosacea times. As for smoking that's interesting too. I have a friend who took Accutane with no long term effects, he smokes a variation of cigars too. (maybe not at the time he took the med)

I love veges like cabbage and potato but yeah I don't eat a whole lot.
@grapes
The diet I follow is pretty low vA, chicken wings, a bit of tomato sauce and the occasional egg are really my only sources. Yeah I think trying to go lower than that is counterproductive.
Can you go into the sun but wear a wide brimmed hat?
The fact that some people can take Accutane with minimal effects shows how our susceptibility to vA can differ a lot.

How I speed up detoxification of retinoic acid:
- Vitamin C (cabbage, potato, supplementary amount optional from half a Berocca)
- Vitamin E (I get it from almond milk)
- There is a patented cure for Hypervitaminosis A which contains a few of the B vitamins (beans, meats, potato, cabbage, whole grains, egg yolks, mushrooms, supplementary amount optional from half a Berocca)
- High UVB sunlight (I live in a subtropical location with good sunlight year round)
- Meat, eating a range of meats including chicken, pork and fish helps to get plenty of K2 and zinc
- Cabbage is very good as it is high in K1 but low vA
- Smoking, I smoke one Manitou organic cigarette per day (highly controversial but the number one way to deplete retinoic acid)
What is berocca some special multivitamin?

Quote from tim on February 26, 2021, 10:40 amI think the formulation differs by country. It doesn't contain caffeine here and the original version which I buy won't contain much beta carotene. I like the vitamin formulation of the one here better than any of the multis I've seen at the pharmacy. A lot of people swear by Berocca too.

Give me link on your version so I can see what is magical on it. 🙂

Yes I still go in the sun, with a hat. It's just not the same as freely enjoying it like before.
Yes my buddy got some sides while taking it but nothing after. I wonder if that's because he has quite large bones, neutralizing RA with calcium. His diet looks poor in vA too.

Quote from tim on February 27, 2021, 12:33 amHere you go Jiri, I'm sure you'll find plenty wrong with it:
I take half a tablet once in a while when I feel like it. It is fairly complete and is quite low dose. I like that it doesn't have a large amount of B6.

Quote from Jiří on February 27, 2021, 12:50 am@tim-2 hm nothing special.. With B vitamins I take here and there B complex with all Bs in active form + 100mg of B1 daily because I think B1 is depleted really fast + I am doing high carb now. A lot of white rice, corn pasta, sugar on the bike..

Retinoic acid causes osteoporosis by depleting collagen and messing with vitamin D, there is not enough of it to cause an actual acid like effect in the body. It doesn't get neutralized by calcium either as far as I know.
Have you seen any change in your rosacea with low vA? Did anything you are aware of trigger your rosacea or did it just appear?
