NEED HELP! Accutane, MGD, low VitA diet / detox
Quote from Act on November 28, 2022, 1:25 pm@jiri well, i'm sorry if I bother you in someway, but what you're talking about doesn't really make sense with what I've proposed. It's not this tempest in a teapot like you made it out to be. If your intention was to raise awareness of everyone's individuality, I think there are several ways to do this without being judgmental or appearing rude.
You dont know me, dont know how I act with things in my life, so I dont think you could tell how I would act with those BASIC informations. I just made it clear that I was looking for basic things to START and UNDERSTAND the process. It was just my first time on the forum. And actualy you just tell me very well those basic informations in the last lines on ur first post - and that's why I dont understand this judgment or tone you are using. Maybe ure on a bad day, but thats so not my problem.
Again, I'm sorry you missed the point. But, as you can see, other people got it and I'm glad for that.
I wish you the best and thank you, again.

I just get a little confused about the egg: I already eat it daily and after reading about the low Vitamin A diet I was thinking of take the eggs off because its look to be a food with good Vitamin A levels. Is there a limit of tolerable Vitamin A in the diet ? Egg is ok?
@act If you read my other reports you'll see I did 1-2 eggs a day throughout the detox. I believe it made things easier for me. Less reactions to foods and no pain from severe leakiness or detox. The benefits of eggs like choline, sphingomyelin, other phospholipids, selenium, folate, B5 and good protein far outweigh the small amount of Vitamin A (about 6% of RDA) and lutein in them. My friends on eggs are doing well whether starting out or after a long time on the original approach. Things have improved much more for me on 3-4 eggs a day in the last 7 months. Choline (and betaine in quinoa or organic spelt/wheat) is what helps the liver recover the best.
So many important notes here. I'll see your other reports to see how was ur evolution too. I really have a lot to learn. Thank you for that.

Quote from Act on November 28, 2022, 1:33 pmQuote from Ourania on November 28, 2022, 6:29 am1. Is there a tolerable limit of vitamin A to be ingested in this diet? I mean, what would be "low"?
Impossible to answer this as many factors are there. Because there would be a tipping point, where the body decides enough is enough and it is time to detox and this is different for everyone. What is sure is that if you ingest more than this tipping point, you are adding to the load. If less, you are detoxing, which does not happen in a linear fashion, at least not for me, this comes in successive bursts.
2. When you said that the side effects of this diet is "just the same as vitamin A poisoning" you mean that my eyes will get worst or you r talking about get my acne problem back? Or maybe both...?
It did not happen like that for me, my eyes got better and better, but my skin was worse and worse. Eventually I got nearly bleeding from my nails but my eyes were alright, which was for me marvelous.
Thank you very much! Gonna see how others ppl reacted on this process and read the books to find my own way on this journey.

Quote from Ourania on November 29, 2022, 3:52 am@act One thing I would like to point out is that detoxing vA brings by moments very strong feelings of rage, for no good reason. See this:
And more that happened to me, several times, which is most probably why @jiri was so abrupt, he who is a very brave and generous soul.
Be well and don't forget to give results eventually!

I had the same symptoms as you with my eyes. Meibomian gland dysfunction and also lots of new floaters. The main things that bothered me were extreme fatigue and headaches. I also was constantly getting a think green post nasal drip. These things all come back again quickly if I consume liver, kidney or eggs or drink alcohol. For what it's worth the exacerbation I get personally is very strong from animal sources of retinol and not really noticeable at all from plant Vitamin A or Beta Carotene. Perhaps I am not a great converter.
Also for what it's worth and I been eating pretty much high fat carnivore. The PKD (Paleolithic Ketogenic Diet) minus the organ meats. This has worked very well for me. All symptoms are much improved but this diet makes you a social leper haha

Quote from Marsh Marsh on November 30, 2022, 8:14 amAlso just to say I got lots of unexpected benefits from this diet. My testosterone increased significantly and at almost 40 years of age my physique is very lean and quite muscular if i'm honest. Must be all the extra animal fat and protein. Needless to say I like this side effect

Quote from Marsh Marsh on December 1, 2022, 2:15 amSometimes I do eat butter but I try to keep it to a minimum. My fat sources are animal fats. Fatty meat. I eat a lot of smoked Hungarian sausage that i get sent to the UK from Hungary. It has zero additives of preservatives. Just meat and fat. I also like bone marrow and beef tallow. Beef tallow makes of a great skin moisturiser too.
I also forgot to mention that all my issues began after taking Accutane as well just in case that wasn't clear

Quote from Andrew B on December 1, 2022, 3:15 am@lee Pork chorizo is high in sphingomyelin which is good for protecting the body from the toxicity of the bile salts. It's very high in eggs also and I posted a study about sphingomyelin in one of the egg posts. Beef tallow is also very good for choline which helps the liver detox (see posts about choline for food lists). I've just found another high choline spice ground mustard seed.

Quote from Marsh Marsh on December 1, 2022, 4:30 amHi Andrew, thanks very much for your kind advice.
I absolutely cannot eat eggs without a severe returning/exacerbation of my symptoms. I will have a severe headache, fatigue lasting a couple of weeks and development of a thick green post nasal drip. The same thing with liver or anything else containing large amounts of retinol. It's such a bizarre reaction but I know it very well now having suffered it for many years. It's actually a miracle I ever managed to make any progress as conventional medicine laughs at this situation and can do nothing to help.
I tend to keep as strictly s possible to the keto carnivore way of eating now. I realise low Vitamin will probably serve me just as well but I like the way feel and look on this diet.
Thanks again,
Lee
