It's funny how certain people manage to post awful advice in just about every thread, and at the same time have the biggest arrogant egos on the whole website. Arrogance and ignorance are siblings.

@salt

Please share your expert advice with us.

Also, I have to ask... Why so salty? LOL

All of you have contributed greatly to my learning on this path.  I hope we can all get along and push forward.  If we were all sitting around a campfire having beers, I don't think the discussions would get rude!  But ya I have lost my cool of some other forums in the past, now I just let it slide, don't need the added stress.

I think this VA detox is releasing very powerful negative emotions. I and my husband are overwhelmed by bouts of fear, rage, sadness, despair, anguish, the likes of which we never experience at these levels. This is very peculiar to the VA I think. As though all the taps to the different emotions were turned to the negative side.

On the other hand, we were seriously suffering from a flat grayish anhedonia before, so I suppose this is the path to true vibrant happiness! 🙂

Hey Guys,

We need to keep this forum respectful and on track. The purpose of this forum is for us to share our progress reports (good and bad), scientific information, and to share ideas and tips on how to safely follow a low vitamin A diet. There’s no place here for ad hominem attacks, etc.

I most certainly don’t mind challenging push-back on topics, but it always needs to be respectful and supported with facts.

Thanks

@ourania Minerals have more to do with emotions than vitamins. Copper will make you more emotional and high levels of cooper will give you anxiety, racing mind, depression, fearfulness etc.. That's why girls that take estrogen pills are "crazy". They start retaining copper in the body... I said it before that I think with vit A detox you detox copper as well. As the liver gets healthier it can synthesize more ceruloplasmin and push around the body more copper.. So I think that many benefits from lowering toxic amounts of vit A in the liver are from more bioavailable copper that can be used by the body. Copper is needed for collagen synthesis(better skin, less join/spine pain) copper is needed for melanin synthesis(reversing grey/white hair) etc... My ceruloplasmin was low in every single blood test. I will do another this year and if it's higher. I think it is good sign that this theory is not complete nonsense.. 🙂

Guys,

Please don't try to change the subject. I asked why is it that when I take isotretinoin just 10 mg twice a week my oily skin is cured 100% and no matter how much fish liver oil vitamin A, synthetic retinyl palmitate or beta carotene I eat, I don't get that oil reduction.

@samuli

Firstly, we are not trying to change the subject.

To answer your question, I think you are confusing sebaceous glands being destroyed, and no longer being able to properly moisturize the skin, with being “cured.”

@samuli Cool, I have tried the same things, micro dosing accutane, even 2.5mg couple times a week, instantly makes excessive oily skin completely stop, halts acne.   Only other thing that did this was high dose vitamin B5 (pantothenic acid), any amount of CLO, retinyl palmitate/acetate, beta carotene did not stop oil production.

This post from RPF today, got me thinking about how B5 and 13-cis-retinoic stop oil production, could be tied to how fats are used for energy and like Grant mentioned, sebaceous glands being disturbed.  Seems CoA is important to activate retinoic acid, and B5 does this big time.   Link is there somewhere.
