No More Burning Skin
Quote from eliza1275 on July 10, 2019, 9:47 am@neilky, I'm glad to hear that worked for you. I did a high fat/protein diet (almost no carb) for about a year, and it caused me to become hypothyroid, worsening my Raynauds symptoms. I've had Raynaud's since I was about ten. For me, I notice that eating a lot of carbs helps keep my hands warmer, but it certainly doesn't stop the attacks. I also still have no improvement after five months on a low vitamin A diet.

Quote from romaine on July 10, 2019, 2:00 pmDon't give up hope. It took me 6 or 7 months till I finally saw a slight improvement. Now I'm at 9.5 months in and seeing a bit more progress. I think it will be years for me to get markedly better though I do wonder if the bone deformities that I have will ever resolve.
I hope you have improvements soon!

I'm sorry to hear that. I can't pinpoint what it was that helped, maybe we were doing different versions of the keto diet or just different reasons causing it.
I have given up Keto for 6 days now and I am having a reverse Keto flu. I know it takes a while for the system to readapt but this is as bad as my first keto flu which was zero fun.

Quote from lil chick on July 11, 2019, 4:23 amI didn't know that reverse keto flu was a thing! What are the symptoms and can anything be done? I did ultra low carb and went through horrible keto flu even ended up at the doctors (which for me means I was half dead). I don't remember any reverse, and can't now remember how quickly or slowly I came off the diet.
I think in general people don't realize how important it might be to change diet slooooowly

Sorry for the delay, I have just logged back in. I had no idea it was a thing either and didn't get it before. I think my body had got used to low carb and was in shock at the reintroduction. I have remained off keto and am mostly back to "normal". Now that I am aware of vitA issues I'm not sure how I could successfully do it again without massive restriction. Checking my serum vitA levels tomorrow to see where I sit. I have only reduced levels rather than cut out as I want a pre VitA level.

Quote from eliza1275 on September 24, 2019, 4:47 pm@saraleah11 Yes, it took that long, and my cycles are now perfectly normal too. I think high vitamin A really did a number on my hormones.
Here is what else has improved - skin itchiness and rashes, dry eye, pinguecula (lesions on eyes less inflamed), insomnia, energy levels, thyroid, acne, hair loss, weight (I was too skinny). I still struggle with seasonal and sulfite allergies.

Quote from saraleah11 on September 24, 2019, 5:27 pmThat is so wonderful, I am very happy for you. Glad you are feeling so much better, you must be thrilled about your eyes healing too. You need them!
I can empathize with the sulfite sensitivity, my mom had it, plus Hashimotos. She would get terrible rashes from high sulfite foods, and processed foods. We had liver every week plus there was always margarine. Loaded no doubt with carotene and probably fortified with A.
Sounds like you have made great progress in so many ways that is just awesome. And I'm encouraged to hear that the pain went away- just have to be patient and not give up.
