Posting quick update here on my log. I am couple months away from 4 years low VA.
This summer experienced the best health and happiness I have had in a long while, physical and mental health continue to move positively.
I was doing a diet with lots of variety of beans, and the more I eat them the more I seem to tolerate, but if I stop for a couple weeks seems I have to start the low and slow process all over again. Also the more bean fiber I eat to more reactions I get, mainly skin issues. whether this is detox or simply not good for my digestion, who knows. For now I am skipping beans, and using brown rice, potatoes, whole wheat, fruit for fiber. Fruit is not a staple. I think I am far enough along in detoxing VA, that I do not need to heavily rely on beans.
So will continue on with very low VA eating, I see no reason to stop.
I no longer take any supplements, except for some extra B5

Quote from Hermes on August 31, 2022, 9:35 am@orionThank you for the update. You keep improving, and isn't that what matters? It's just so evident how closely tight mental and physical health are for one, and they're both obviously influenced badly by too much vA. To me, this still remains a stunning discovery, despite several other accounts by members of this forum who experienced the same improvement. It takes years to detox retinoic acid, but the journey is worth it a million times. I'm also glad to hear you don't rely on supplements anymore. I'm not quite as close yet to ditch them, but the day will come, they won't serve their purpose anymore.

Hey Orion,
I’m kinda back from not visiting this forum for a bit. Have you gotten any VA levels recently?
It’s been 4 years and 8 days since i started. My levels have been <10 ug/dl for a full year now.
2 days ago, i quit going low VA and now going moderate VA for the foreseeable future. I plan to keep my Va levels <15-20 forever so I’ll be doing whatever it takes to do that.
I’ll probably explain myself in a different post at some point.

I will be 4yrs on Nov 6th. I don't have access to VA serum testing, so no idea where I stand. But feeling better than ever. How are you feeling, would you say it was a success?
One thing for me is that I do way better not trying to keep fiber intake up, either it messes with my digestion to much, or speeds up detox to much, who knows. I plan to continue low VA, low fiber for now, and I do moderate days here and there. Low VA is easy to follow, and not concerned with cheat days, if eating with family/friends or dinning out.
Thanks for sharing, would love to see a more in depth post when you find the time.

Glad you’re doing well. Wish you had some testing capability. I felt the same way with fiber for the last 1+ year. i’ll have to gather my thoughts before I post.

Quote from puddleduck on April 1, 2023, 12:19 pmI am so happy to read your most recent updates, @orion! 😁🥳🤘 Sounds like you’re in a good flow. Being free of stress about eating out and chilling out instead of pushing the detox so hard (or whatever is the problem) you get bad symptoms sounds sustainable, and is a great achievement. 😎 It’s awesome you had such a great summer in 2022. I hope summer 2023 is even better for ya! ☀️😊

I am looking forward to this summer, I seem to thrive when I am close to the ocean down in Cape Breton, @jiri has mentioned similar about Croatia. Salt air does me good, plus all the extra sun!
Hoping your summer 2023 is fantastic too, its almost here, I just have to ignore the -20C windchill this morning.

Quote from puddleduck on April 4, 2023, 6:47 amLol, yeesh! 🤣 That’s a chilly April day, all right @orion. 🥶 I live on the Gulf of Saint Lawrence, where thankfully temperatures are rising closer to zero, but snow remains plentiful...
Oh yes, ocean air is the best! 😁 Something “cleansing” about it. I’ve never yet made it out to Cape Breton, but it sounds like a unique and special place in many regards. I’m glad you are able to go! Gotta look forward to beach days to get us through the tail end of winter, eh? 😎☀️ To future suntans! 🍻

Quote from Alex on April 19, 2023, 8:37 pmHey @orion congrats on all your progress over the years, I’ve recently come across some of your old posts on other websites by chance. I have some questions for you if you don’t mind.
I did a TEI HTMA test, for the first time( usually I use Doctors data), before I went Costa Rica and they gave me their sup recommendations for slow oxidiser, I got back last week so now I bought the supplements as I was curious to try them, do you think the TEI supplements are helpful for getting to optimal health and mineral status or is just going low VA a better way, it seems you’ve gone with the low VA route without the TEI sups, but I was wondering do you think the TEI sups detox and repair the body properly? Or are they a con slightly and just moving metals around because they have ingredients like small dose Vit A and big doses Vit c, Manganese and Zinc which could be messing with detox of metals and bile. Ascorbic acid has always shut down detox for me even in low doses so I was curious to try it in a higher dose with zinc and manganese to see if it’s any different but I see you use Vit C. It seems manganese is almost exclusively excreted through the bile so that could potentially cause issues for me as I have had a big gallstone and very bad cholestasis (that I’m now out of), but I’ve never really supplemented with manganese before. The reason they suggested that is because I dumped copper but I also finally managed to raise my iron, selenium, magnesium, chromium, phosphorus levels which were all low in the 5 previous tests before that.
I tried the TEI adrenal glandular today and that made me feel really good but also slightly over stimulated and more anxiety from copper being moved around I guess, so it’s apparent to me my adrenals are down.
I’m gonna do another TEI this week because in Costa Rica I was on a Ray Peat Diet and higher copper for a month and a half there but my bile and gut motility was better than ever, I may have been storing more copper in Costa rica as I now have green stools after taking a GB-3 bile acid supplement, and the stools smell like chemicals. And I have switched to a lower sugar diet with higher fiber but the fiber completely ruins my gut motility and bowel movements despite feeling more clean energy and nutrtious. The difference between eating hot food diet vs cold food diet(ray peat) is night and day for me, feel like hot food nourishes my body with minerals while cold food doesn’t as much.
My second question: After 4 years do you think the Vitamin A detox is a patch and you are still running on downregulated metabolism/backup pathways or do you think this is not a patch and the way to fix your metabolism and mineral status and properly detox metals?
