Questions to food extensions (very low vit A, sugar, histamine, no gluten)
Quote from Joel on June 27, 2020, 9:18 amI am thinking about food extensions, but still want to stay very low in vitamin A, very low in sugar and histamine and no gluten and also few fatty acids like palmitic acid.
What do you think about the following things:
Macadamia nut, garlic, quinoa, millet, blueberries, potatoes, ginger, white onions, dried dates, applesauce, peeled apple, naturally unfiltered apple juice, raisins, artichokes, turmeric, radish, beetroot red, parsnips, rice noodles.Thoughts on this?
Macadamia nuts, quinoa, millet pre soak in water, right? Other things pay attention to?
What is worse about rice noodle than normal rice, less nutrients?
---
I might want to make waffles with apple sauce every 2,3 weeks as an exception/highlight. My self-considered waffle recipe:
85g Macadamia nuts, 125g millet flakes, 200ml Almond milk or coconut rice milk - (which is better or has less vitamin A, cant find information about it?), 3TBSP honey/maple syrup, 1TBSP Apple Cider Vinegar, 1TS baking soda.
Not sure if I do it, just as a thought as a meal highlight, but if it contains too much vitamin A or histamine I let it be.
And as a note, of course I test one food by one, not all at once!
Thanks!

Quote from Jiří on June 27, 2020, 10:44 am@joel I would stay away from apple cider vinegar, apples, apple juice or apple sauce. Pectin, fructose and vinegar are not good for the liver. You don't need to soak millet. I see no difference if I soak it or not. You can also try buckwheat and sorghum. Btw sorghum can increase DHT a lot. Good for males.. With buckwheat flour you can make pancakes with just flour and water.. Btw you can do some waffles, pancakes or whatever every day for breakfast for example why only every 2,3 weeks if you like them?? I also started eating sausages made with pork and beef. They are low in vit A. Very tasty alternative to just cook piece of meat.. Rice noodles are ok. They just digest really really fast. So mix it with protein, fat and some fiber.. I like rice noodles with ground beef..

Quote from lil chick on June 27, 2020, 12:11 pmThe other night I had a food attack, and preceding that was a huge slice of blueberry pie. It could be the hugeness was the factor, because I generally just eat small amounts of blueberry at a time and am ok with it. Of course, the other things in the meal and travel that I did that day also played in to the problems.
I'll eat almost anything sometimes in small amounts. BUT NOT orange veggies and fruits. NOT liver. And not anything with VA added (at least knowingly) like store bought low fat milk.

Quote from lil chick on June 27, 2020, 12:41 pmI loved this very simple thin pancake, which seems infinitely changeable. I'm going to experiment with it. The apple version looks nice too. Perhaps my version would keep the 1 egg (for a family sized batter) but use water instead of milk. Replace the butter in the pan with some other oil.

Quote from lil chick on June 27, 2020, 12:49 pmTumeric kind of scares me now because of it's pigments. A few years before finding Grant I did experiment with it a bit, and never found it to be the fountain of wonder that everyone else thinks it is.
I do use a bit of cayenne in cooking, just a speck, not enough to bring heat, just to bring a little interest.

Quote from Joel on June 28, 2020, 4:20 am@jiri Thanks for your thoughts. Good to know with sorghum. No matter on DHT whether sorghum flakes / flour? I could possibly make also pancakes out of it, right? I tested my DHT recently, I'm almost 22 years old and my DHT blood value is so down in the basement, really, really low. I know you think nothing of herbal things, but have added Ashwagandha again, because I have a good feeling with it. Theoretically, it should also increase DHT if it increases T. Well, maybe vitamin A detoxification help with it, too, but all my male sexual hormones are completely bad. But it also depends on the amount of pectin and fructose, right? because I would like to eat sometimes something fruity / fruit with millet flakes, for example in the morning, but okay I can still eat bluebeeries instead of apples. Do you know a good sorghum brand? so far none found in Germany.
@lil-chick thanks! But blueberries are really very low in vitamin A, so maybe the reaction was because something else in the cake? I would like to stay very strict, so egg, or other things in small quantities I prefer to leave. Turmeric has already improved my liver value, which is always very high for me, bilirubin. Now immensely high again, I am considering whether it is even higher because of the vitamin A detoxification. Well i think a lot of it, it is a very good antioxidant and i think, even if you don't always have a direct effect on the body, it can be very good for the body on long term.

There are fruits that are basically completely free of VA that you could eat as much as you want of. There are many completely white tropical fruits, although most of them are very hard if not impossible to get in Europe. You should however be able to get canned lychees from asian food markets. Also rambutan and longan which are similar. Peeled nashi pears also have virtually zero VA. Although Garret doesn't like them, but I don't agree with his approach. Do what works for you. According to my countrys national database, blueberries have 96µg of beta-carotene per 100g.

It is not just about vit A. If you have excess of vit A in the liver and you want make it for the liver easy as possible. Eating a lot of fructose and pectin is really bad idea. I think ideally you should limit fructose and pectin content to almost zero. There is no benefit eating fructose other than during exercise. For people that don't move much. They shouldn't even look at fructose..

Few more questions:
- Golden millet is okay too?- The normal millet flakes, which i can buy in the shop like cereal/oatmeal, I can eat directly without cooking, right?!
- If I make sorghum pancakes or cook millet, can I prepare a huge amount and put them for several days in the fridge and just have to get it out of the fridge in the morning? Because I can never cook it every morning.
You could also make millet rolls and then eat them as meat rolls, yummy...;D
