Rosacea and Seb derm
Quote from lil chick on November 20, 2025, 12:17 pmI looked around and also found that (oral) mastic capsules have been used successfully by occasional Redditors for rosacea. I posted a link but it is acting weird. You guys can find your own examples with simple searches.

Quote from lil chick on November 21, 2025, 6:54 amIt appears that mastic gum has no vitamin A, but it does appear that it has "plant poisons", and that is probably how it works. All poisons matter, but sometimes we do need weapons to get rid of germs (?).A good article on mastic gumI asked the google machine:Can mastic gum heal a leaky gut?Disruption of the gut barrier can lead to increased intestinal permeability (leaky gut), associated with various gastrointestinal disorders and systemic inflammation. Mastic gum has been shown to support gut barrier function by strengthening tight junctions between intestinal epithelial cells and reducing permeability.
Quote from grapes on November 21, 2025, 7:18 amI was aware of but never tried mastic gum, asked gastro doc about natural remedies for h pylori, and he said they don't work (sure it is an expected response).
My reasoning of link between h pylori and rosacea was that redness is a side effect of excess aldehydes, which are produced by this (and other) bacteria. (I think there is a science paper with this theory) However this can not explain why rosacea disappeared and re-appeared later. Saw a comment on reddit of someone with a similar experience : rosacea gone for one year after eradication and then came back.

Quote from lil chick on November 21, 2025, 8:07 amIt appears that h-pylori might be the type of thing that is in the environs, and easy to recatch if susceptible, or that you might even re-grow it in your gut if it is hanging out in your mouth. The guy found he had to open the capsules. I wonder if it can even go from mouth to nose and face? My nose is very itchy sometimes. And sometimes my nose gets ulcers inside the nostrils.
Now, the Sjogrens idea (that perhaps sjogrens is just another name for VA overload) that I've been thinking about lately is all about these nose, mouth etc places being too dry and apt to become irritated.
The healing always has to come from inside, and we can wipe out the germs but we need to fix up the terrain to really heal. But I'm sure that we do end up in vicious cycles in which we cannot heal because of germs etc. Tim, for instance, did some gut fixing with herbs to get over a hump with some problems. He has a thread on it.

Quote from lil chick on November 21, 2025, 8:11 amI was just reading that chickens and other farm animals can (and do) harbor h-pylori. Maybe I will have to switch to pasteurized milk in my coffee for the duration of the experiment with mastic (if I do manage to make myself go there haha). I no longer keep chickens, but once when I was a chicken keeper I dropped their water bucket and the water splashed directly into my mouth. One of my farming mentors said: Keep your mouth closed! haha. But you can't close your nose.

Quote from grapes on November 21, 2025, 8:16 amI think/hope I did not re-catch it. The doc said you can not catch it when older than 4 years of age. I asked for an additional breath test later (the standard one is 1 month after the treatment) which was negative. And I no longer have h pylori symptoms : acid reflux and recurrent stomach ache.

Quote from lil chick on November 21, 2025, 8:17 amInteresting. The chronic vomiting I used to have was also something that the inter webs say is mostly a disease of childhood. Of course, in my case it stayed with me for life. I bet we are building stronger foundations but it does take time.

Quote from Joe2 on November 21, 2025, 11:49 amIs Strep not everywhere? Is it not on the skin of all of us? Why is it sometimes pathogenic sometimes not? Why is it sometimes methicillin resistant and sometimes not? Why is it increasingly methicillin resistant?
As antibiotics are increasingly abused in name of eradicating another endemic (sometimes) pathogen, how long before the antibiotic resistant and much more pathogenic forms of that life form become prevalent?
What if this is another case of blaming the police and firemen for car accidents since they are always seen at accidents. Same as amyloid plaques were (and mostly still are) blamed for dementia?

Quote from grapes on November 21, 2025, 11:58 amI don't believe in "terrain only" theory. As an (extreme) example if this were true, we could allow children, who have mostly sane terrain, to drink stale dirty water supposing pathogens shouldn't develop and cause disease in their bodies.

Quote from lil chick on November 21, 2025, 2:16 pmI think what I've got left of rosacea would make a case for that my terrain is getting stronger, but at the pace of glaciers. I've actually been a bit more pink lately, for whatever reasons, ever since I went away a bunch of things got triggered.
Although I'm super happy with the progress, it's not complete.
