Quote from Beata on December 10, 2020, 4:57 pm@jiri I am wrecking my brain about it. Hair loss and insomnia popped up about 2 weeks ago. I have had thyroid issues for 3o years and the only other time I experienced hair loss was right after my pregnancy, over 30 years years ago.
So what changed in the last month? Not much in my life and I have a pretty good one. However, about a month ago a 5G service was activated in my area and there is a 5G tower about 200m from my house. This is the only change I can think of - but mentioning this often puts me in the category of the conspiracy theorists.
I am sorry that you think this way about the low vitamin A diet. Have you read Grant’s books? Autoimmune issues might very well be connected to vitamin A and I am really just at the beginning of this process of vitamin A detox. I have a tendency to accumulate carotenes and few carrots will give me an orange skin colouring. I absolutely dislike alcohol. I react with intense flashing and get drank just breathing the alcohol fumes. (I am not kidding. If I stay at a bar with a friend just drinking water, I feel drank within 30 min! ) Remember the 2 enzymes responsible for the clearing of retinoids and also alcohol? Am pretty sure that herein lies an issue.
Jiri, I thank you for your caring attitude. I have gone through many systems of healings and several practitioners. What I learned is that science is based on theories and hypothesis, and nothing is cast in stone.
I used to enjoy various tests and did many of them. Now I am much more meditative about all that. I am committed to the low vitamin A journey and will emulate Grant with his minimalistic approach to his own extermination. As for the hair and insomnia? Not sure really...

Quote from Jiří on December 11, 2020, 12:38 am@beata-2 You can continue low vit A diet. Nothing wrong with that. I am on low A like 15 months and I have no problem stay on it for the rest of my life. I am just saying that meanwhile you can research, learn other possibilities. Hair tissue mineral analysis is very good tool to have. It can tell you a lot about what is going on in your body. Your thyroid issues can be from some metal toxicity and/or imbalance.. For example people toxic in copper are very sensitive to EMF.. Alcohol intolerance can be molybdenum deficiency. Etc..

Quote from Orion on December 11, 2020, 9:04 am@beata-2 maybe you could try charcoal, I have been using it every night before I sleep, in the hopes it catches/binds anything toxic overnight. I think it disturbed my sleep in the beginning, but seems to be normalizing and helping now.
I have horrible sleeping issues over the last decade, post accutane, and it is still not the best. Things that make my sleep worse seem to relate somehow to cortisol. Taking cortisol supplements give me bad insomnia. Glycine, B3, oral vitamin D, give me insomnia... Are you getting lots of bright light and sunshine? Allithiamine B1 seemed to help my sleep a lot, but I don't want to continue using it to stilt up my health, hoping to heal on food like you, but small experiments could be helpful in seeing what is missing.
I am male so the hair shedding was happening before low VA, and still continues for me, kinda hoping it would stop, there were some studies posted on Ray Peat forum how VA is detrimental to the hair follicle, so while detoxing it via retinoic acid pathways I am sure there will be hair issues for most... I am assuming you are female, so I hope this will reverse quickly for you.
@jiri mentioned it and me too, I think the hairtest is probably a good thing yearly on low VA, see our mineral status.
And not to put on a tin foil hat, as I don't think 5G is anymore dangerous then 4G, but being really close to high power transmitter is probably not a good natural state. Living far away in the woods, in a cabin, on a lake, fireplace... would be better 🙂

Quote from lil chick on December 11, 2020, 6:56 pm@beata-2 often I relate sleeplessness to allergy exposures. I was exposed to lots of mold and dust one day at work this week, and ended up awake at 4:00 am. My nasal pasages are still very delicate. Coldness at bed time can also make it hard to get to sleep. I need socks to get to sleep in winter. I read this idea on Mercola.
Both issues are helped with a shower before bed. I think both the cold intolerance and the allergies are adrenal issues.
Back sleeping isn't working for me any more. Once I accepted that I am a side sleeper I started sleeping better. I also have begun to not curl up into such a fetal position, but a straighter side posture, which I think helps me breathe better. I'm also using a thinner pillow, but can't go all the way pillow-free like Tim.

Quote from Beata on December 12, 2020, 3:56 pm@jiri, I had a hair mineral analysis over a year ago. No heavy metal toxicity. Calcium and magnesium in a low normal as was zinc and copper, molybdenum could be better but not tanked. Overall, nothing remarkable.
Since that time I added beans to my diet which hopefully replenished the molybdenum.
I have been generally healthy other than the Hashimoto’s, so this has been my focus. I will keep going of course as I actually really enjoy this rather limited diet. Few bumps on the road are to be expected.

Quote from Beata on December 12, 2020, 4:15 pm@orion. Yes I am a female and in spite of the thyroid issues I have very thick hair (a family trait).
I think there is hope...today there were few less hair on my brush and hopefully this trend will continue.I have been following the protocol by Karen Hurd - adapted to be low vit. A and for the last few nights just before sleep I have had a portion of beans. This seems to be helping somewhat. According to her, beans are a great detoxifier as they attract and clear toxic bile. Charcoal is surely a good one for the digestive system sweep. I also wonder if perhaps I do need a bit more carbs. I seem to enjoy the beans and meat so much that it is possible my diet became too low in carbs and I have been experiencing Keto adaptation?? I remember people complaining of hair loss and insomnia in my “good, old keto times”.
Have you heard about the research by Jim Stephenson who has the Secosteroid Hormone D fb group? He presents a compelling argument that Vitamin D should not be supplemented. I stopped supplementing with it years ago and get a good time in the sun in the summertime. Now, in a England is dark and gloomy so not much exposure to light here.
YES, I thoroughly agree. Living in nature would be ideal. Not worrying about foods, ratios, detox, et. al would be a dream! One day perhaps I will walk in Thoreau’s footsteps and build a cabin in the wood! 😀

Quote from Beata on December 12, 2020, 4:22 pm@dino. Thank you. I have heard of this book but did not get to it yet. Have you read it? What do you think of it?
I think I tried to avoid reading it, following the premise that “ignorance is bliss”. As I live near the tower and cannot move at this time, I am scared to discover that I might be exposed to trouble.
But maybe keeping head in the sand is not a good idea after all.
Thank you for the suggestion. I will read it after I am done with fantastic work by Peter H. Duesberg “Inventing the AIDS virus” (free to download).

Quote from Jiří on December 13, 2020, 1:00 am@beata-2 Great. But you need to realize that one hair test will tell you nothing in most cases in terms of heavy metal toxicity. IT will show you if you are slow or fast oxidizer. If you have adrenal issues etc.. By looking at macro mineral ratios, but in terms of heavy metal toxicity you need to start doing program(taking minerals, doing diet, life style changes etc..) and retest.. Even the most toxic people have often no signs of heavy metal toxicity on first test.. Same with copper. Once your body is strong enough to dump that metal into the blood. Than you will see big spike on hair test. Now I am not saying it must be your case. I am just saying that doing only one hair test is not that useful. You need to do more tests ideally every 6 months and watch what is changing. That will give you true picture. Btw do you have symptoms of "estrogen dominance"?

Quote from Dino on December 13, 2020, 2:32 am@beata-2 Yes I have read it twice. 1/3 of the book are references so it is probably the most "complete" book for those who need the "science". The text in itself is absolutely excellent and probably one of the best I've read so far (and I really read A LOT, have like 1'000+ books in my house on almost any topic you can imagine). It cannot be "summarized" easily because it goes much much deeper than just EMFs; it is basically about all of Life and explains a lot of things which are very difficult to find elsewhere. If I would classify "health books" and "must read books in one's lifetime", this would certainly be in the top 10 without any hesitation.
If you cannot move it is not a problem since you have ways to protect yourself against EMFs. It can be costly but there exists "shields" made of specific materials so you can at least protect your bedroom and sleep well (shields actually used by the military, at least here). Here in Switzerland we have tons of EMFs and from direct experience I know that protecting against EMFs is a life-changer. I know of no one that actually has not tremendously benefitted by protecting himself against EMFs.
I have a professional EMFs-meter and it is terrible here... That's why I have chosen a house on purpose: there is "nothing around", it is an old Swiss farmhouse, the walls are in stone and so thick that even the mobile phones don't get into it - you cannot use your phone to call from my bedroom, for example. I sleep very well and people coming to our house never want to go out because they feel so well. A friend of mine who has "autistic traits" comes sometimes to sleep in a room here because he feels so well and "steady" (he lives very near but comes just to "rest" as he cannot sleep well or sometimes at all when he is in his appartement).
I also wrote elsewhere on these forums that I actually did an experiment with a few people going in a "EMF-free zone" in France and that their symptoms have simply vanished almost overnight. This is actually "testable" but people dont really care about it. 🙂
Also, there are tons of people telling me that too high copper is the problem (also in many books) but in my own direct experience it is actually by chelating zinc that most of the EMF-related symptoms vanish (maybe the chelator chelates other minerals as well and it may be that it chelates also copper but those people have stopped eating zinc and chelated it then resumed their consumption but are just fine - all of them have apparently at one point taken zinc supplements for the "flu" or the "immune system" or whatever else, here at least in the french part of Switzerland almost everyone takes zinc during winters... I have already written about this also in another of my topics but again I have not understood the "science" behind it but it worked that way...).
For whatever reason, people don't want to believe and see that EMFs are one of the biggest (if not the biggest) health hazards of our times. Maybe it has to do with our "materialistic education" so that whatever people dont "see" they dont want to believe, don't know. Even people who tell me they dont "feel anything" and who are actually very healthy come to my house and realize very quickly the positive changes (heart rate, nervousness, etc.). It is a big topic, and as I have been repeating here and elsewhere again and again, I believe that if people avoid EMFs, breathe correctly and go "low A", there is almost no disease that cannot be reversed.
