Supplement Recommendations
Quote from Liz on December 24, 2018, 10:26 pmThanks for the tip Doublecapricorn.
I have been on an iodine protocol for a long time (yes with all the additional supplements) it did nothing for my endo. My endo has become a lot worse, actually. My dr used the phrase "exploded". I do believe iodine being awesome though, for many. But it is not the miracle cure it is often described to be.
After what I have read, i now suspect vit A somehow being a cause/involved in my endometriosis so this diet is also a huge experiment for me on that department Unless I get my miracle and it is all gone come surgery jan 31st 🙂

However, the last point you make contradicts your premise. It doesn't matter what are original natural requirements are. Maybe the carnivores are right and we are supposed to be hunting and eating full animals and drinking their blood. Maybe the vegans are right and we should all be eating fruits and vegetables. Trying to figure out what's natural is futile otherwise we could all be naked somewhere along the equator line getting optimal sunshine with no man made alterations.
The thing we are human and we constantly alter our environment. If there is good evidence behind an "unnatural man made" supplement then it just might be beneficial. Of course, always do your do diligence and understand you are always taking a risk. Even vitamin C that's recommended by Garret and has tons of positive studies behind could be "exposed" in the future.
I feel nutrition and human body are such complex topics that we will never know for sure. The positive reports behind any supplement may very well be placebo. Do your own research and understand in the end we are all gambling.
But I agree unnatural does mean bad if it were then we should all take out clothes off lol

I agree but premise that we need some specific or extra nutrient is based on the thinking about what's present in "natural" foods. I cannot yet be sure but am almost certain that when it comes to minerals and vitamins, more of it is harmfull. I think that's the reason why "calorie restriction" extends lifespan. It's actually "nutrition restriction" that's doing that not calories. And also i believe our body is capable of making and recycling many nutrients as some animals for example make their own vitC but only when we are allowing it to function without strain of too much nutrition processing and messing with various biochemical processes.

Quote from Guest on December 25, 2018, 4:23 pmI believe it is the last primate study on this that showed that limiting calories from processed food extends life span, and not when restricting calories from whole foods. I guess you will think that proves your point, but one does need more nutrients if loaded with toxins. The stuff they add to processed food is usually the worst form or a form that is harmful but that doesn't mean that all supplements are bad. If there is an imbalance then sometimes the only way is to supplement. I have said it before - I was sick on a whole foods diet. Simply restricting vA and going organic might eventually fix my problem but how many more months do I have to suffer that way? If the body is toxic and not functioning right what makes you think it is going to be able to recycle nutrients or make ones that it needs?

I have been wondering about endometriosis too. From my own naturopathic studies many years ago I associated VA with all the bodies inner linings so it seems fitting that it would be linked to endo.
After what I have read, i now suspect vit A somehow being a cause/involved in my endometriosis so this diet is also a huge experiment for me on that department Unless I get my miracle and it is all gone come surgery jan 31st
I have found a few studies linked with retinoic acid suppressing endo in the short term, meaning longer term damage as Dr G says.Hope it helps for you🙂

Would you mind sharing the links to the studies you have found? I would very much like to read them 🙂
It was actually Bella (via Harrymcdonald?) who informed me about vitaminA's involvement in aromatization of estrogen (I believe it was). That was a big eye opener because I dont have high estrogen, it is actually on the low end. And yet my endo has "exploded" since I got my diagnosis 3 years ago.
I am determined to fix this (i would rather have a miracle ofc) because there is a reason why so many like 10-15% of all women are affected by this and yes, genes can play a role as well (being less able to break down/metabolize estrogen). Stuffing oneself with synthetic hormones to stop our own hormonal production does not make sense to me. At. All. That is just wrong and will not fix the source to the disease. Only temporarily mask the symtoms. If even that.
My dr is making all kinds of threats to me, if I dont start taking drugs endo will spread to my other kidney as well and i will lose organs. How can she even say that, she does not know that!!
The kidney thing I first noticed after trying budwig method for 2 weeks this fall. Yes daily splurge of quark + linseed oil f*cked me up bad. I could feel endo activity daily from day one. Not pain but as in it moving/spreading around in there. And then I noticed i could not pee properly.
So any study of any kind regarding endo, esp related to vit a, i am very interested in reading 🙂

So you already have that particular study (and many others) and your own bad experience with a "whole foods diet" as a proof . Whole foods and natural foods are so heavily promoted as "healthy" just for business. If you are in imbalance (or if ,as you say, body is toxic) supplementing will mess your chemistry even more. Best way to reset body chemistry is to fast or better, eat a "crappy" diet which is devoid of "nutrition" . It's is because too much nutrition is messing with our chemistry which requires too much work for the body and that requires extra calories also. I was thinking lately why fruitarians feel hungry and lose weight even on 3000+ calories ? Well I think it's exactly too much easily accessible "nutrition" that's doing that. Eating pure white sugar or pasta won't have that effect at all and it can only make you extra energetic.

Do you have some links to share or maybe you can describe the 'crappy' diet you mentioned?

Quote from Guest on December 26, 2018, 12:28 pmI can attest that my absolute worst health was during Weston a price diet getting plenty of raw egg yolks, liver, cod liver oil, raw dairy ect. On paper I had enough nutrition to be superman.
In reality it was an absolute disaster. Had so many issues from costochondritis to weird pains and skin got so bad...
