Sussan's log
Quote from Sussan on March 8, 2021, 11:38 amI am starting a log as per the suggestion of another kind hearted member.
I have been on the low detox diet officially since March 1st, 2021. The previous week I had quit the mega vitamins. Have had a progression of eye troubles since Accutane in my 20s and a slow progression of deterioration of my eyes and the pain I have been experiencing is very troubling. I am 64 years old and need to save my sight. And other things I have been in a fog about for nearly 40 years. Crazy.
So far since the quit of the mega vitamins and the start of the diet the results are:
- Last 2 mornings upon dawning of day I have not experienced the feeling of a hard rock of an eye (both eyes) surrounded by space and acid. That has been extremely painful.
- I had a dream last night. And I actually slept. Which is new. A painful dream but it was real. Recalling my father and how he never got to say what he needed to say to me before he died. So I awoke and cried. But gosh it's nice to actually remember and dream.
- Only had to get up once in the night last night to pee. I had gone from 4-5 times to 2 times.
- Scalp not driving me crazy with itching and inflammation. That's been going on off and on since I was 12.
Started drinking coffee in the morning since yesterday. It is to see if it will help with the detox. I may have drunk too much yesterday because I felt a little woozy. But so far I drank some today and no real detox symptoms noticeable yet. Recovery seems to be going fast. Though I really am encouraged by others improving their eyesight. It would be a miracle indeed to have my eyesight healed. It isn't natural in my opinion to have pain in the eyes and wear glasses.

Quote from Sussan on March 14, 2021, 10:25 amWaiting for the results of a Vitamin A test I took early last week. But wondering if it really matters since my symptoms of dry eye and dry mouth are still present.
So far even if it is too early to tell if it's the diet or not in my case:
- Severe dry mouth and dry eyes (the sensation of it anyhow) from 1 a.m. till I get up at dawn. Then the flood of moisture is in my eyes during the daytime. No change
- Scalp not is a constant state of itching and blood caked scabs from the itching and pulling of hair. That has been going on before Accutane poisoning. This is new.
- Eyes are stronger when reading online including Grant's ebooks. When I first started it was painful to the eyes to be on the computer to read for even a short time. This is new.
- When I sleep I dream. That's something new.
- Eyes aren't painful when I first lie down for sleep. I like this.
What I have been doing other than the diet:
- Wearing goggles lined with wet flannel material for night time sleep. I also put lubricating ointment in. Doesn't seem to help at all. So the dryness is within. But I keep wearing them to think I can prevent that awful feeling of acid on the eyes. I mist my eyes with saline solution from 1 a.m. off and on till dawn.
- Drinking more water during the day. Doesn't have any affect on the terrible dryness feeling of mouth and eyes after 1 a.m.

Quote from Ourania on March 14, 2021, 11:20 amThank you @sussan for your experience.
The dryness of the eyes and mouth at 1 am does not have a connexion with water I think.
Rather it is an effect of the liver getting to work in the first hours after midnight. There is a timing for the organs to work, based on an ultradian rhythm. We wake up very early, around 3 am, because of the pains in the lymphatic system, dry eyes (gone now), dry mouth (still very much on). The pain and dryness go away after drinking one cup of coffee and walking around.
One of the things that helped was no food or drinks after 5 pm, except water of course. This means that the liver has less to do in the small hours of the morning. Another is going to bed early so as not to lose sleep because we are awaken by the pains and dryness.

Quote from Sussan on March 14, 2021, 12:42 pmIt makes sense what you say about the lymphatic system. It is probably in overdrive due to the poisons. I thought maybe my liver is releasing the excess retinoid acid in storage and probably lots of retinoid acid accumulating in my eyes due to being in the position of lying down for a long time. Since I'm not taking the overload of Vitamin A foods and supplements, the body is adjusting to that as well. Thank you for the suggestions.

Quote from Sussan on March 26, 2021, 1:57 pmSo, the improvements on the low A detox diet I had in the first week or so are no longer. My skin is still good though. I think the Vaseline works for me on my face. I tried some castor oil on a little spot on my face and it made it red. So I am continuing using the Vaseline.
Scalp is back to a vengeance itching like crazy after 2 days from last washing. I have lived with itching scalp way before I ever had that Accutane dose so it is what it is. The eyes are another story.
Eyes are the same which means only at night and usually after 1 a.m. extreme dryness and irritation. Plus the dry mouth. The eye ointment I have been using just seems it doesn't work so I am deciding to stop using it. So will see how that goes. The goggles seem okay so far. They block out the light anyways. My sleep is very messed up due to having to spray a mist of saline on my eyes to prevent that awful acid burning in the early a.m. But I would rather do that than feel my eyes burning like hell at 4 in the morning.
As for low A food: I tried to change from beef to chicken and I feel hungrier when I eat the chicken. Hard to find organic beef except the ground organic beef. Haven't found where to buy local organic beef roasts or bison. So I am still figuring out the diet part.
Not taking any supplements as it all is an unknown what I need right now until I do more testing. But I am experimenting with activated charcoal and black cumin seed in the morning before breakfast. Not experiencing any problems with either so far. Also considering milk thistle but haven't bought any yet.

Quote from salt on March 26, 2021, 4:36 pmFor me, personally, I found that beta-carotene affects my eyesight and the dryness of my eyes a lot more than retinol does. Even minute amounts have a negative impact.

Quote from Ourania on March 26, 2021, 8:46 pm@sussan If we eat chicken we have to eat another time! Beef or lamb or deer or goat. Chicken is like fish, we need RED meat.
Scalp: for a couple of months we had scalp problems. Feeling strange movements under the scalp, this is poisoned lymph going around, and because it is irritating, you feel it. It is a good idea to wash your hair more often, never mind that it is not generally recommended. Work the shampoo into the skin and rinse well. If you live in the country, you can use clay to soak up the poison. Not recommended for your drains if you have no garden to rinse it. If you leave that poison on your skin, you might lose more hair than necessary.
Eyes: I found that using a TENS vibrator it moves the lymph around and eyes burn less. Until they stop burning at one point (for us after about eight months - came back from time to time). Also using Bain Derivatif helped move the lymph towards the lower part of the body for detox there.

Good luck!

Quote from Sussan on March 31, 2021, 9:39 amAn update:
- First Vitamin A test I took back in early March results: 44.9
- Had a PTSD "attack" that set me up for unnecessary inner pain for 2 days till I got my presence back. Haven't had that in a long time. Wondering if this detox is affecting my mental state. Is this a part of the detox I may experience and if so why? Is the VA in my blood stream affecting my oxygen supply?
- I think my eyes are slightly better at night and not fearing the burning of acid to be at 4 in the morning. But sleep is messed up because of the eye issues. So, am going to try an old program I used a long time ago for sleep issues. No drugs just a program.
- Also experimenting with the suggestions previously posted.

Quote from Ourania on March 31, 2021, 10:10 amGood news for the eyes! We still occasionally get black depression for a couple of hours when detoxing too much. A glass of vodka cures this immediately. Not sure if this is recommended though.
I don’t mind about bouts of depression with no cause, They pass quite quickly. Saving the eyes is first for me. Well done @sussan!
