to the people who have permanent symptoms from taking accutane, do you get sick less after this began for you?

@lee curious, what does PKD stand for?

Sorry, I should have explained.

PKD is Palaeolithic Ketogenic Diet practised by Paleomedicina in Hungary. It's being implemented with great success for cancer patients and various autoimmune diseases amongst other things.

The main clash between PKD and the dietary approach practised on this platform is that liver is very important in PKD.

I cannot eat liver without being very unwell since taking Accutane. I've had a hard time working with Paleomedicina to get them to understand this.

On the whole I feel great on the diet but I thought it could potentially reset my immune system so that I stop getting autoimmune reactions to food. Whether or not this is possible remains to be seen. I'm only 30 days in.

What's brought you to this platform?

Kind regards.

Lee

I am a long-time (seven years or so) client of Dr. Garrett Smith. I have Hashimoto's thyroiditis, with very high antibodies.

So what brought me here was Dr. Smith's understanding of Grant Genereux's writings. Prior to Grant's books and blog, Dr. Smith (as well as my previous practitioner) had advised me to take quite a bit of Vitamin A to decrease my extremely high calcium (on HTMA). But -- unlike most practitioners -- he aligned his practice with the truth. I know of no other practitioner who continually refines what he is doing -- and people are getting results. I recommend him highly.

@kathy55wood are you gluten free? It's a must for hashimoto..

@jiri yes, thank you -- gluten free, dairy free, soy free, mostly sugar free (as in, a teaspoon  now and then)

@kathy55wood I don't think sugar is a problem. The problem are more complex structures like gluten, casein due to leaky gut. You need to figure out why is your gut leaky.. It can be from intestinal damage from vit A toxicity(especially after accutane) or it can be due to mercury toxicity for example.. Do you have amalgams or any history of eating a lot of fish especially tuna?

Thanks for the summary of your story and for the recommendation.

I think i'm quite happy with my current approach, my only concern is that avoiding liver might mean I'm missing some valuable nutrients. That said I think the PKD is much healthier than any other diet. I am biased towards this ancestral diet type theory, i'm happy to admit it.

Have you been strictly low vitamin A for many years? Have you seen a lot of improvements? After 7 years i'd hope you've made a full recovery if Vitamin A toxicity is the problem.

For me, after accutane it feels like vitamin A/retinol is stuck in my system. It would be great if there were a short cut to flushing it out. Then we could all judge very quickly if it's been the root cause of our problems.

Thanks,

Lee

I've seen your posts here, you seem very knowledgeable but i'm interested to know what you think can reverse intestinal permeability?

I know an accurate way to measure it and an effective dietary approach to reverse it. It has not helped with my sensitivities to and immune responses to Liver, Eggs, Dairy and Alcohol though.

Thanks,

Lee

@jiri you bring up a good point. I have undergone extensive (and expensive!) dental restoration, with placement of biocompatible materials (was tested for this) along with safe amalgam removal. This was done a long time ago. I rarely eat any kind of seafood. So I believe mercury is not a major problem for me at present.

@lee I have been doing low Vit A for only about the past 3 years or so. I have indeed seen improvements -- I am attaching a link to my recent comment-post about them -- https://ggenereux.blog/discussion/topic/why-i-dont-think-this-is-a-legit-theory-anymore/?part=16#postid-16396
