The relationship between Vitamin A, Copper, Ceruloplasmin and Thyroid
Quote from lil chick on October 8, 2023, 3:12 pm@jiri I think I have posted about this before. I would guess this is toxic urine and probably if you were a lady you might end up with a UTI (urinary tract infection). I suppose it could be oxalates, detox from VA or any other toxin you can think of. But I know exactly what you mean.

Quote from Jiří on October 9, 2023, 12:46 am@lil-chick yeah I was thinking about oxalates. Omg how I hate that even oxalates are problematic.. Try to eat low vit A, low oxalate diet. You can eat basically meats and white rice and even white rice people tell you is a problem with arsenic hehe.. I wonder how much oxalates is a problem. "experts" will tell you the less you eat the better. Ok makes sense, but it is so restrictive. I have hard time eating enough.. I tried adding calcium citrate to the meals with oxalates, but that calcium makes me constipated.. My oxalate intake is like 1 can of beans, 100g of oats and something with corn like masa harina tortillas or polenta or corn pasta.. It is far from high oxalate diet full of spinach, nuts and seeds etc.. But maybe even this small intake is problematic for me..
Btw I heard that even vit C or gelatin can increase oxalates in the body? Would like to know how that works. Why would the body damage itself by making oxalates? Why the body even makes oxalates? Now when I think about it that irritation by urine maybe started when I made some gelatin from pig feet.. So I had with every meal good amount of gelatin.. Vit C I lowered since I watched that Chris M. video where he talks how even 1500mg of vit C can unload copper from transport protein which is last thing that I want to do. So I am trying to take under 500mg a day..

Quote from lil chick on October 9, 2023, 6:03 am@jiri I guess the good thing is that we are getting rid of something! I worry that toxic urine means the kidneys are having a rough time. Grant did end up here because of kidney issues.
Cutting back on oxalates and VA might mean getting rid of old storage...You can't win, LOL.
In the past when I was getting lots of UTI's I read about cures that help. One thing was baking soda. If this IS about acid urine...baking soda might help? I really goofed up my gut once taking too much baking soda. It only lasted one day but it was painful.
Another cure was the sugar that is in cranberries, D-mannose. I remember people saying it was better to take the sugar and not the cranberries. Is that because cranberries have oxalates?
I drink some milk each day which is supposed to help with oxalates, but often with coffee which has oxalates. derp
Cleanliness and wearing loose clothing, white cotton underwear! Lay off the colorful G-strings, Jiri! hahah...
The irritation doesn't last too long in my case. Sometimes just a few minutes. Hot water can make it worse (just like your mouth when you have had hot pepper) but you are better off after.
There is a condition in women called "vulvodynia" which is pain and burning in that area that isn't related to any infection. In that condition, it appears that thin, easily irritated skin is a part in the problem. High VA can make the dermis more apt to inflammation.
As we get more well our skin becomes more "rubbery" in a good way... less delicate and apt to be sore and red. I suppose the essential fatty acids might help with skin.

Maybe it is even the main issue why I have thyroid problems.. I feel like I can't handle 10-15mg that tells me that my body really is full of garbage that iodine is pushing out. Healthy people can take crazy high doses and don't feel anything.. So I will keep taking it in a dose that I feel like I can handle. + selenium, celtic sea salt water to transport that iodine into my thyroid.. I just hope that taking T4/T3 will not somehow inhibit that saturation of the thyroid and whole body with iodine.. On Ray Peat forum member with nick Jam has really good topics on iodine.. Really recommend them..
I also felt bad on nascent iodine months ago even just 650mcg but I think it was a detox. I have read in multiple places that too much iodine can actually shut down the thyroid. So I don’t think mega doses are a good idea and generally I do think minerals should be taken in balanced amounts. That’s why in TEI supplements they have low dose iodine.
I am thinking to try FMN lozenges which could be more helpful for thyroid than riboflavin supplements as it bypasses some steps in riboflavin metabolism which is needed for thyroid function.

Quote from Jiří on October 19, 2023, 1:30 pm@alexm I started taking some riboflavin as well. I was only taking thiamine due to my intake of white rice.. Now I was watching videos from Chris Masterjohn about biotin and I think I will start taking it as well. Since I am not eating any good sources of biotin and he is talking how high protein diet needs higher biotin as well.. But that can deplete B5 because they use same transport so I will be taking one day B5 and one day biotin.. Will try 5mg capsules for biotin, but he says 300mcg a day should be enough and that higher doses of biotin can cause issues.. It is just hard to find some good clean low dose biotin supplement around 200-500mcg..

Quote from Alex on October 19, 2023, 1:47 pm@jiri you need to try Pantethine which is the active form of b5. It specifically increases human ALDH and inhibits yeast ALDH so it’s good. I’m liking using it with molybdenum seems to work well for aldehyde processing and kills my sugar cravings. Where as taurine promotes yeast ALDH.
Biotin I have been using as well sometimes it can be helpful for me and sometimes it doesn’t do much or I don’t need it. Biotin helps retain zinc and copper.
CMJ seems to be obsessed about b2,biotin and b5 atm for fixing peoples issues but I really think people need to do a lot more than that to fix their health issues.

Yes, it is not possible to weigh out 500mcg of biotin. What I have done is to add 39g of dextrose to 1g of biotin. 20mg of this mixture will give you 500mcg of biotin. So you can buy in bulk, not worry about nasty excipients, and still weigh out a fairly accurate amount of the substance you want.

I can't do all that just for one B vitamin. It is not sustainable for me long term.. I will try 5000mcg capsules from now foods that I have here what it does to me. I will take B5 in the morning and biotin at night. Will see if I feel any difference..

People say B5 is good for adrenals so it makes sense it kills sugar cravings. I have huge sugar cravings when I am stressed from not sleeping enough or other mental/physical stress.. I think I have some really bad B vitamin imbalances.. But it is so hard to know what and how much you need.. But looking at cronometer I always have a lot of B3 from meat. So for sure I don't need that. But B1, B2, biotin, folate possibly B5 as well due to high stress I think I need in to supplement.. I just need to take them consistently. I always start taking them and when I don't feel any difference I just forget about it.. Only with B1 I know that I need to take it when I eat white rice for most of my starches.. I also watched last video of Q&A from Dr.Smith and I will try drop soluble fiber intake. My bile production is already low from low thyroid so by eating 1 can of beans, 100g of oats, apples.. I just make myself constipated.. Maybe that's why I had so good poops in Croatia when I was eating basically only a lot of meats/see food with potatoes and maybe some apple, banana and corn flakes in the morning. So much lower fiber intake.. After first meal of oats with whey protein at home my stool was pale and dry again lol... Apart from fiber there was huge difference in mineral intake as well due to salt/chloride from the sea and also a lot of potassium from potatoes. My calcium intake was very low. So maybe that also speeded up things in the body.. I would like to replicate that diet, but I am not sure about eating that many potatoes due to oxalates.. I wonder if adding potassium chloride to my white rice can mimic potatoes? 😀
