At this moment I'm embracing a theory that perhaps linings of organs (epithelia  tissues) do not heal unless you have B12/etc.  I'm not sure you will fix yourself with JUST zero VA.  Especially if things have gone really far...

So much so, that you can possibly SNEAK UP on fixing the linings of things JUST by having B12/etc.  Even with some good amount of VA in the diet.    (as Wahl did)    Grant came from the opposite direction, and perhaps his stomach was still absorbing well enough to derive enought B12/etc from his diet to improve.

I'm saying B12/etc because B12 doesn't stand alone in foods such as liver and raw milk.   Although the video is a good advertisement for B12, I think almost always a person is also on a B spectrum when they are being supplemented by a physician with B12.    The cow's body puts all the factors the calf needs into the milk so that the calf CAN DEAL WITH THE VA LOAD of the milk.  There is no VA-free cow diet, there never has been one.  Of course we humans add more VA to the usual milk load.  (derp)

I'm thinking that high VA and low B12/etc are a *thing* together that is causing what we call auto-immunity.

I wonder if what Price saw in the 1930's was the result of the women no longer relying 100% on breast milk?  And so a bunch of borderline low-B12 woman began turning out borderline low B12 children.  and so on.

One of Price's points, if not his basic one, was that there were several "very successful" diets in the world.   He saw them as having lots of the fat soluble activators.  However, isn't is odd that they are the highest in B12!

High quality dairy based:  the Masai, the Swiss

Fish and seafood based:  the Scott, the Maori

Organ meat based:  Native American  (hope I'm remembering this one correctly)

Price's three main successful ways of eating are the 3 top B12 food groups.

Interesting, just went back and listened to one of the experts in the video.  Gosh there is so much there and shown so quickly.  The doc says there are 14 or 15 special proteins involved in the absorption of B12, the largest vitamin and the hardest to absorb.   

For a second, a blurb comes up that says that classic pernicious anemia is the result of an autoimmune disorder.  So, add high VA to low B12, and eventually you are going to go down a sprial of not absorbing because of bad epitheial tissues, worse epithelial because of your nutritional state... and so on.

It's very easy to be in denial.  Hey, I eat tons of meat, how can I be B12 deficient?

If my gut look like my hands, lips and face, though....

I knew this very old health food store owner.  Her hands were always perfect.  Soft, moist and pliable.  I wonder, I bet she had been taking high quality B12 all along!  I betcha!   She was NOT a WAPFer.

Weston Price wrote his book in 1939, However, B12 wasn't discovered until 1947!!!!!

Therefore, Price couldn't have found the higher levels of B12 in the foods he sent home from his researches!

My mother was born in 1941, so obviously they couldn't have been adding B12 to any formulas of the time.

This is big.  I really feel that this is big.   Sigh!

If you eat a serving of liver you'll absorb thousands of micrograms of vit A and just a few micrograms of B12.

Your pharmacy will stock methylcobalamin. That's all you should really need. If we are producing intrinsic factor normally we still only absorb a few mcg from a 1000 mcg dose via intrinsic factor. If we aren't producing intrinsic factor normally our only option to replenish B12 without injections is to take a B12 supplement multiple times each day, when it's a large dose we still absorb a few mcg via diffusion.

Food B12 is absorbed by two processes. The first is a vitamin B12-specific intestinal mechanism using intrinsic factor through which 1–2 micrograms can be absorbed every few hours, by which most food consumption of the vitamin is absorbed. The second is a passive diffusion process.

I'm going to supplement with methylcobalamin two times a day with the intention of increasing liver reserves. For those that are consuming extra fiber in an effort to prevent enterohepatic circulation of retinoids you're probably depleting B12 faster as well:

How fast B12 levels change depends on the balance between how much B12 is obtained from the diet, how much is secreted and how much is absorbed. The total amount of vitamin B12 stored in the body is about 2–5 mg in adults. Around 50% of this is stored in the liver. Approximately 0.1% of this is lost per day by secretions into the gut, as not all these secretions are reabsorbed. Bile is the main form of B12 excretion; most of the B12 secreted in the bile is recycled via enterohepatic circulation.

Yeah this is my understanding too. Elevated calcitriol isn't great but the body obviously considers it better to raise calcitriol when retinoic acid is elevated than to not. I'm cautious of taking vit D and vit K2 but I've decided to take a supplement that contains a low dose of both, 12 mcg vit D and 5 mcg vit K2.
