How does Accutane work?

PreviousPage 4 of 7Next

@jiri

From when I was a young child I've been repulsed by milk and cream. Dairy products have a lot going against them like bcm7, casein, lactose, VA etc. My policy after VA detox will be to allow tiny amounts of dairy.

I tried going gluten free for decent periods of time and I didn't notice any benefit. I love wheat and don't seem to have any issues with it.

@tim-2 Heh I also love wheat. Who deosn't. But wheat doesn't love me back.. When I look back I had all kinds of symptoms of inflammation and hypothyroidsm even before amalgams where my acne and much bigger health issues started. I think I have celiac and by keep eating gluten. It ireally ruined my health.. But I will never find out for sure, because I will not start with gluten just to get a test.. I am ok with it. I think modern wheat is problematic food. Same with dairy..

@jiri

Yeah it seems like it really hurts some people. I read a lot about the science behind the problems and was convinced it was really bad but over the years I couldn't see any negative effect for me personally.

It's something that they have done recently to wheat. If spelt or kamut was used instead of wheat I doubt we'd have many issues.

They've done studies where supposedly gluten sensitive participants all thought they were eating wheat but some were given a gluten free placebo. Placebo and non placebo groups reported the same number of gluten sensitivity reactions!

I spent several years off of gluten and dairy (although I never dropped butter) and had very little benefit and no trouble getting back on those foods.  Just another of my failed experiments.  When I was a wapfer I used to make a very nice honey-spelt loaf, I need to get a sourdough culture going again.

@lil-chick

Yeah I don't think highly of dairy but I never saw any benefit from completely avoiding it. Avoiding gluten is a recipe for social isolation and unless someone is celiac I tend to think it causes more harm worrying about it. I think white spelt flour produces some of the most delicious baked goods.

I do wonder if VA plays a part in celiac.

@tim-2  read quite a few anecdotal reports that oils high in linolenic acid, example grape seed oil, when used as a moisturizer greatly reduce sebum flow, for some others it makes acne worse.   Anyone know the carotenoid composition of these types of oils?

I think will try some H202 on the face and see what it does, do you just spray it on and leave it on?

@orion

Most oils contain very little carotenoid, even lutein and zeaxanthin are colourful so you can see their presence in oil, it's really just raw palm oil that contains any carotenoids of significance.

When using h peroxide for seb derm for years I noticed it would help with the odd pimple. Acne is deeper and more enclosed than seb derm though, you might want to experiment with using it on a consistent basis and then judge the effects. With seb derm I just use it as a treatment after seb derm has already appeared.

Yep, wash skin to remove oil then let the skin dry then spray the H2O2 on. Rub it into the skin. I just close my eyes when doing it, you may want to wear swimming goggles, don't get any in your eye. Then leave it on, dont wash it off. Avoid getting it on any good clothing or furniture, it generally evaporates off the skin in about 10 minutes.

It bleaches the skin and also makes skin problems look worse initially but these effects go within a few hours.

Make sure to wash your hands after applying peroxide. Peroxide is itchy/painful (depending on if the skin is broken or not) for a few minutes after application, just a heads up.

@tim-2 I tried and was prescribed EVERYTHING for acne. Nothing worked and I know for sure that putting something on the skin is not a solution. You need to address the cause of the acne and heal the skin from the inside out. All this you need to wash your face etc.. Every time I dried my skin the oil production and irritation and the acne was worse. I would never ever recommend to someone putting something on their skin other than water. I would recommend good healthy life style and diet for sure. Because that will help EVERYONE like at least 50%. After that they need to find out if they have some toxicity, damaged gut walls for some reason etc.. I would love to travel back in time and said this to me when I was 14yo. My life would be completely different now..
