Beans
Quote from Mattia on July 6, 2020, 9:19 amI agree on the efficacy of antimicrobial herbs. I took them too and they improved greatly my SIBO and dysbiosis. I have now a much healthier digestion and I can tollerate more foods.
I took bio clear microbiota and oregano oil from invivo therapeutics for 6 weeks.
Regarding probiotics, I also had an unpleasant experience with them. Instead I have seen benefits taking S. Boulardii yeast.
Taking betain HCL and digestive enzymes has also greatly improved my digestion.@jiri I would focus on improving the digestion. I would not consume beans if they don't agree with me yet.
Solving digestive issues greatly improve the general quality of life 🙂
PS: I would like to add that antimicrobial herbs are very strong and should be used with caution. Only take them with food and use bentonite clay e/o charcoal to absorbe the toxic dead bacteria, otherwise the die off reaction are very strong.

Quote from Orion on July 6, 2020, 9:21 am@tim-2 how do you prepare mushrooms? Have read it is suggested they are cook for a long time to boil off the toxins
So now, it turns out that many common mushrooms have high levels of hydrazine in them.
It has been known for a long time. For example, it was studied way back in 1979:
The commonly eaten, cultivated mushroom Agaricus bisporus contains up to 0.04% beta-N-[gamma-L(+)-glutamyl]-4-hydroxymethyl phenylhydrazine and 4-hydroxymethyl phenylhydrazine.
This is not a small amount of hydrazine. If you eat a lot of mushrooms, you are going to be getting potentially cancer-causing amounts of hydrazine.
Recently, Dr. Ray Peat studied the mushroom problem and made this suggestion.
Cook mushrooms for a long time, and let the water vapor evaporate.

Quote from lil chick on July 6, 2020, 9:42 amsigh--are mushrooms trying to kill us too?
@tim-2, I don't get why the enzyme thing is a straw man. But maybe that discussion belongs on some other thread. I think one of the smartest things I've read here is that your alcohol tolerance is a good marker for how VA toxic you are. I see both hubs and my alcohol tolerance went downhill as our VA toxicity went up.
I don't think dysbiosis is my issue at all.  My gut works like clockwork. I THINK that the reason fiber started to bother me (as I became more toxic) was because it was stirring VA things up. I THINK (don't really know) that I might be a person who would really be quite healthy if it wasn't for VA.
I totally believe in culinary herbs and that strong herbs can be as toxic as pharmaceuticals. Best to use the culinary. I think your palette will tell you how much. I grow and dry most of my own herbs, and I love everything about the process.

I used FC Cidal and Candibactin BR because of this study:
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4030608/
I actually wanted Dysbiocide and Candibactin AR but I couldn't find anyone that would ship to my country.
Well if it is in form of capsules like that I wouldn't have a problem take it. But here in CZ I can't find anything like that and buying from amazon is a lot of money for me now hm.. Maybe some simple antibiotics would help. But what to tel Dr.. Or can I buy them somewhere?

I saute them.
Psoralen found in parsnips, celery, parsley and figs is mutagenic. I could give hundreds of examples of edible plant toxins. I don't know anything about hydrazine but white mushrooms have a long safe history of use as a food for humans just like parsnips and figs do.
I'm pretty skeptical of those that see plant toxins as beneficial (I only see them as beneficial when they kill bad bugs), for example thiocyanates are often talked about as health promoting compounds. I'm equally skeptical about anyone fretting about plants (and fungi) that have been in our diet since prehistory. The end result of plant toxin paranoia is the carnivore diet which is insanity.

Quote from Jiřà on July 6, 2020, 10:12 am@tim-2 I don't see any antibacterial herb supplements here in CZ. So what single herbs are the strongest? Organo oil, manuka honey? I can buy that. Anything else that really can kill bugs?

You could take the antibiotics discussed in the study or you can make the herbal medicine yourself with some of the ingredients found in the products. Some of the herbs can be fairly toxic though so I prefer to let a company formulate what I take.
@lil-chick
Yeah I had very poor alcohol tolerance when I was very vA toxic. With Hypervitaminosis A one's liver is basically getting rekt so it isn't surprising.
On what basis do you think it isn't a strawman? I've explained recently in other threads why it's a strawman, the jist of it is that dehydrogenase enzymes PRODUCE retinoic acid, they aren't responsible for EXCRETION. Also, when you drink a glass of wine how many grams of ethanol do your dehydrogenase enzymes have to metabolize? Yet micrograms of retinol can't be enzymatically transformed without special support provided to this pathway?

Honey and culinary herbs will not cure SIBO. You can look up the products I listed and read their ingredients. If you want to cure SIBO the best way will be to save enough to buy those products, if you search around you'll be able to get them sent to you somehow. It's way easier taking a product that has been proven to cure it than to try to do it all yourself.

Quote from Ourania on July 6, 2020, 11:53 amWell, Both I and my husband have exceptional alcohol tolerance. We can drink anyone we know under the table and we never get a hangover.
But we do not drink often in big amounts. Also we do not get tipsy at all.
But I am sure we have problems with VA.
How is this possible?
