Bile excretion when having diarrhea?
Quote from Gonzalo on November 30, 2020, 11:15 amThanks @orion Do you think we expel bile when we do them? Isn't diarrhea a fast way to expel the bile and therefore the toxic bile? Also I would assume after doing many of them, your cholesterol level should drop and also all fat soluble vitamins, including A.
@are yes it is that, if you do it be aware that you need to be near a toilet. The taste of the salts is awful, I add some lemon to mask it.

Quote from Orion on November 30, 2020, 2:33 pm@gonzalo they for sure expel bile if you use the oil approach, that much olive induces a massive bile output if your liver and gallbladder are not severely blocked. I cannot comment as to whether the non-oil method would do this, I am not sure.
Also I have never read that they reduce cholesterol levels, but that could be possible, just like how soluble fiber lowers cholesterol by binding it.
@are lets us know how the first flush goes!

The slime comes and goes, and I was kinda hoping this was bile, but I see people describing this bile as yellow/green, so what could this white stuff be?
The first thing that comes to mind is yeast (Candida) overgrowth.

Quote from lil chick on December 1, 2020, 8:17 amI would guess it is mucus? On a quick google search I read that mucus is a normal thing in the plumbing, but when there is enough to see... perhaps something is going on, such as inflammation or infection? You'd have to pair the discovery of the mucus with other symptoms, perhaps, to get a better guess.
Personally I see hubs and I having some of the plumbing problems and each in our unique ways. Hubs has trouble with fats, while I have trouble with fiber. I'm sure the surface cells of the plumbing suffer (as surface cells suffer elsewhere that is more easily seen)-- and need to become stronger-- with time off of VA.
I wanted to mention that Ayurveda has ideas for improving bile. I wonder if these ideas would, in general, help the problems with bile we are having here. Trad healing ways are so interesting. They talk about bile becoming sludgy, and foods and spices to thin the bile. Some of them would not be low VA. An interesting idea is that fats shouldn't be taken cold.

Quote from mmb3664 on December 1, 2020, 8:33 am@are It could just be mucus, but often times, excess mucus is there because of damaged tissue. This might be a normal part of the healing process when getting rid of excess vA. I started experiencing the same thing over a year ago and decided to finally get a GI panel this past July. I had some mild yeast and bacterial overgrowth in my intestines and have been working on it since August.

Quote from Orion on December 1, 2020, 8:55 am@are a liver flush will definitely clean out the pipes, hence why we warned to be near a toilet for the entire flush. I wonder if this might be helpful for you, a good cleanse then see what happens the next few days.

Quote from lil chick on December 1, 2020, 8:56 amOne of the most frustrating things about the course of lowered VA is that the healing curve isn't straight upwards. Does it mean you are on the wrong track? Why would anyone continue with this track, if things get worse? It's so illogical. But that could be why it is such an undiscovered route. (sigh)
I've got a particular healing crisis going on right now with my gums -- gosh darn it. I suppose that is just the other end of the plumbing, LOL. If your colon feels like my gums, then I can see why mucus is getting created.
My gum condition precludes VA limitation. I just get frustrated that it still flares.
I think about all the VA I've taken, though, and how each day of VA intake will probably take about a week to get rid of (just my silly imaginings). And if so, I'm in for a very long haul.

Quote from Gonzalo on December 1, 2020, 9:20 amWhat kills me is the uncertainty. For example, in my mind liver flushing is the key to escape from hell (I refer specially to those who have taken Accutane), it makes sense that it expels the toxic bile and therefore you should get better faster. I have seen some testimonials like this girl who was also damaged by Accutane and had similar symptoms as me and got much better after a couple of flushes (https://knowledgetonourish.com/2017/02/24/liver-flushing-my-experience/). But then I also hear from people like you @orion who have not noticed significant improvements even when following the protocol. Was it because your liver was damaged and you had problems with bile flow? I have no idea. Also in the acne.org thread, do you remember if people benefited from them or mixed results again?
@are I did not experience anything like that, sorry I cannot help. But read the testimonial of the girl I linked above and also iraisemyhealth (about liver flushes).
I agree with you @lil-chick, it is very frustrating. That’s also the problem with this theory: if it is right, what can we do to speed the process? Interesting that you mention about Ayurveda. I also believe those who really know Ayurveda are wiser and understand the body better. The guy that popularized the liver flushes was an Ayurveda practicioner and he recommends not eating or drinking cold food before doing the flush. The problem with him is that he also said many things I believe are very wrong. He was into raw veganism too but interestingly he acknowledged the importance of fats and considered them vital.

Quote from Jenny on December 1, 2020, 10:10 amI now think of any increase of symptoms or new symptoms as an indication of the detox not running smoothly. (I never took Accutane so I have not looked into the particular problems that it causes). It is quite possible to get bottlenecks which result in accumulation of particular forms of vA and/or nutrient depletion from running the detox for several months/years. I’ve been very interested in trying to understand how to smooth out these problems which can be blips or major setbacks. I think the body is speaking to you if new symptoms appear.
I can think of 3 ways of tackling this:
1. Less vA coming out of liver - slow the detox temporarily & let the body catch up. Reduce agitators.
2. Support the bottleneck/deficiency with targeted supplements and/or food.
3. Increase the toxicity leaving the body - soluble fibre, other binders & liver flushes come into this category.Just my take on the detox. It’s the structure I’ve been using to tackle a few of my issues. I have no doubt the vA detox has been the way for me to go, however, I think it can be tough on the body. Lots of variables - genetic & environmental.

@gonzalo I think it was because I was still consuming a very high VA diet when I was doing the flushes. Now that I am on low VA and healing I suspect that they would be really helpful, but they are time consuming and not so convenient in a busy schedule. I might start trying them once or twice a month.
I will note that I am taking 1/2 gram of charcoal every night before bed, and it seems to have a real positive affect on me. So like @jaj mentioned, binders and fiber are another key factor.
