Blood pressure and cholesterol levels
Quote from Fred on February 2, 2020, 7:42 amI also have regular/low blood pressure readings. It once it spiked to a high level due to an increase in salt consumption (I was using more salt and it was in prepared foods I was consuming). When I cut out the salt it went back to normal.

Quote from saraleah11 on February 2, 2020, 1:16 pmThanks Grant and Fred that could be it. I am using salt, and the meat I buy may have additives/ contain additional. It was a surprise as I feel great and have dropped to 125 lbs from 128. Ill just leave the shaker aside, drink more water and recheck it soon.

Quote from lil chick on February 2, 2020, 1:17 pmTim is right that home monitoring is a good way to know what is really going on, and one reading at the doc doesn't tell the whole story. I don't know about you but all I have to do is think about going to the doc and my blood pressure sky rockets, LOL.
Hubs went to the doc and had a sky high reading and he made the doc put on the same cuff and take a reading and doc was sky high.
The cuff was toast. They get out of whack. Home ones and drug store ones can get out of whack too.

Quote from saraleah11 on October 8, 2020, 2:19 amAfter one year and 2 months, I had a high blood pressure scare last Feb and almost gave up. I'm pretty sure the reading was right, as I also had terrible headaches, and had it checked several times. Always high. The last time it was checked was last week, Oct 2020, and it was 120/78, and we are in the midst of a COVID outbreak, I was scared to be in the office.
I'm thinking the Feb high may possibly have been from exposure to Covid-19. At the time, I was volunteering at the hospital, visiting patients, long interviews.. Don't know, just that nurses were saying flu was really bad at the time. Did have strange red inflamed, sore toes on one foot for weeks.
Anyway I didn't give up A thanks to encouragement from Grant and this forum and special thanks to Judy 20 year low carber . Cut back all grains and I noticed my last reply I had backwards-dropped to 125 lbs from 128. Immune condition continued flaring up occasionally and PAP showed some inflammation, but no symptoms visible. So I did what Dr said and finally quit oats and gluten ( so hard to do) last spring. Still got occasion flare ups.
There is a written about oxalate as a trigger for this condition, so I dropped carbs in general and all high/medium oxalate foods, potatoes and beans, even the lower oxalate beans. Went fully Low A, Low Carb 55 days ago. No flareups since, down to 122 lbs never hungry. And the blood pressure check was only last week, normal. I eat a low A salad every day and protein, from low A foods, some flax coconut and a few more things. Ill keep checking back but so far so good. No more blood pressure headaches. Maybe its one way to push thru the detox crash, as Grant said the carnivores seemed to do well. As a past vegan this isn't easy but the healing is life changing.

Quote from Judy on October 8, 2020, 5:09 pmCongrats, saraleah11! So glad it worked for you. Here's a story about marathon runners in the UK who ran for 5 consecutive days without any food at all. They were fat adapted (using their own body fat for fuel), which makes it possible. They were also all diabetic! https://www.dietdoctor.com/uk-team-completes-a-100-mile-five-day-run-with-no-food?utm_source=Diet+Doctor+newsletter&utm_campaign=b6561b259b-&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_41db911777-b6561b259b-463232341

Quote from Judy on October 9, 2020, 4:50 pmYou are welcome, saraleah. There is a documentary about a tribe in Africa that still hunts the way their ancestors did. It is quite amazing. When they track an animal, they designate one member of the hunting party as the "runner." In the video, he chased the animal for 3 days until he literally ran it to death. He didn't seem to carry anything with him. (They make the point that animals overheat faster than humans because they have fur and we don't.) Maybe all of us were capable of such feats of endurance before the agricultural revolution led us to be dependent on 3 carb-loaded meals a day.

I absolutely believe we are stronger and smarter than we are led to believe. We are poisoned and mentally imprisoned in every way possible.
