Carnivore and Bile Acid Malabsorption
Quote from Tommy on March 13, 2023, 2:01 pmI feel like I read somewhere that the arctic explorers observed that the Inuit aged quite quickly and looked quite old for their age, particularly the women.
I don’t want to spread misinformation though so if someone can confirm or refute this that would be appreciated.
Edit- I found a quote:
"...Eskimo women are sometimes grandmothers before the age of twenty-three, and that they usually seem as old at sixty as our women do at eighty." —Vilhjalmur Stefansson (1935)

That will always be the case. Still, I learn from using my senses more that from reading any book really.... but maybe because I am a woman![]()
Same. When I was well into the carnivore diet I came across a video of Owsley “The Bear” Stanley (Zero Carb Carnivore for 50 years), and thought, he does not look so great (in his 70's, of course had some vices LSD etc) especially when compared to Dr. Esselstyn (currently 89). Owsley was pretty cool though!

Quote from Andrew B on March 14, 2023, 3:01 amThe thing about Esselstyn is that he's a former Olympic rowing champion. He may also have a positive attitude as well for all we know. He may also still be physically active. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caldwell_Esselstyn
I've also got a friend on Facebook who has been vegan all her life and in her 60s and she kickboxes.
Then we have Grant Genereux an active cyclist eventually recovering better than many of us and Garrett Smith is also physically very active running up and down hills with heavy backpacks and walking regularly.
So it may be that physical activity trumps diet. Indeed Dr Peter Attia stresses exercise for longevity. https://peterattiamd.com/category/exercise/

Quote from Jiří on March 14, 2023, 5:03 am@andrew-b well our body is made to move and do hard things not watching netflix 24/7 that's for sure.. 🙂 Everything in the body works better if you are active. But I don't think that you need to do crazy exercise. If you have garden, some animals and you move around all day on fresh air and sun I think that's ideal. If you have that garden next to ocean like people in Okinawa etc.. that's ultimate recipe for long and healthy life..

Quote from lil chick on March 14, 2023, 6:00 amAnd that is how I've been lucky enough to live! Things go south for me when I stop moving. I even have trouble when called to jury duty haha. I can't sit still. This winter I've been much more active so I'm hoping to skip the spring-time back pain haha. It isn't just the exercise it is the fresh air and sunshine too. The couple of times my husband has been home between jobs and working on our little farmlet daily he has gotten more healthy too. There was that wonderful story about the Greek man who was terminal in NY and returned to Greece to garden and nap and got better.

Quote from Inger on March 15, 2023, 11:14 amI have to agree with Cassia. He has this tired eyes too and dark area under eyes.
I am really feeling like, the bad thing with long term carnivore is the adrenal issue, and the liver who cant get rid of toxins as well either when there is no soluble fiber. And.. the possible iron load.

Quote from Inger on March 15, 2023, 1:36 pmI just stumbled on this video and the woman, she gives healthy vibes to me. I really think she is onto something with the home made fresh ground bread and also she is mentioning legumes. I know I feel good eating my moms home made fresh ground spelt bread. And trust me it was hard to accept as I still had this idea in my head so strongly, bread is bad...... But I just ate the bread anyways and now I am happy I did. I dont believe bread is a bad food anymore.

Marky Mark was an underwear model as a young man! He has always been good looking. I do think it is interesting how Tom Brady and Tom Cruise don't seem to age. However, the possibility exists that these two are doing more than diet and intense exercise.

Quote from Jiří on March 16, 2023, 12:03 am@jeremy I don't care what they are doing. I just used him as an example of "good looking 50+yo".. So others have some idea.. They have lower stress life in general that's for sure + they can do what they like and want + they have great self discipline which not all actors have + better genetics than average that's also for sure.. Anyway if I had money like they have I would be doing intravenous stem cells for sure.. I think that's limiting factor for regeneration of tissues outside of top diet designed for the individual based on hair/blood/urine testing and stimulating, low stress lifestyle..
