Copper and zinc metabolism

PreviousPage 5 of 8Next

Person like this will get more and more saturated with all kinds of viruses, bacteria, fungus. They think that they have strong immune system and that they are super healthy because they were not sick for many years, but in fact it's the opposite.. Their immune system is fucked and people like that end up with cancer or something like that..

Additionally their immune system become saturated with intracellular infections.

So the worst thing that you can do is to take every day high dose vit C.. You should take it only for short time when you think that something is attacking you..

VitC is good against intracellular bugs as an antibiotic also it helps immune system to kill more germs, the key thing is to never overdose, since is additionally downregulates immune system starting from moderate doses(> 100..250mg per day).

Similar to zinc, copper and glucose, there are importers for "vitamin" C right on the surfaces of the immune cells:

Macrophage(white blood cell) uptake and recycling of ascorbic acid: Response to activation by lipopolysaccharide
https://www.researchgate.net/publication/7493118_Macrophage_uptake_and_recycling_of_ascorbic_acid_Response_to_activation_by_lipopolysaccharide

Activation of ascorbate-containing macrophages with lipopolysaccharide transiently depleted intracellular ascorbate without affecting GSH. Recovery of intracellular ascorbate required function of the SVCT2 transporter, the activity of which was modestly enhanced by lipopolysaccharide(endotoxin).

Reduced bactericidal activity in neutrophils from scorbutic animals and the effect of ascorbic acid on these target bacteria in vivo and in vitro
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/1962573/
Actinomycetes, involved in oral and periodontal diseases, cause serious infections in immunocompromised hosts. Severely scorbutic guinea pig leukocytes killed only 12% of phagocytosed actinomycetes, had distorted nuclear morphology, had 16 times less ascorbate, and had no chemotactic responses in vitro. Ascorbate reversed these indices and also prevented nitrosamine formation by oral organisms.

...

on the other hand, it suppresses immune system/prevents its overstimulation:

Vitamin C prevents microglia activation:

...

Vit C "deficiency" is sometimes observed in individuals with chronic inflammatory diseases(their white blood cells are constantly utilizing it as a nutrient) up to the "scurvy"(which is actually more of a meme than an actual disease).

@rockarolla I think I have also issues with alkaline/acid balance. Especially since I started with low A diet which is basically just acidic foods(Fortunately I was eating at least a lot of cucumbers when they were in season..) and also I was taking a lot of salt and also taking magnesium chloride. I had no idea that chloride is acidic? Also too intense exercise that was creating a lot of lactic acid didn't help.. Maybe acidosis can be a reason for some people why they have "CFS, fibromyalgia, adrenal fatigue" etc.. and maybe that's why I have sensitive/transparent teeth. Because the body is using calcium from bones and teeth to neutralize acids.. I will lower my salt intake. Stop with magnesium chloride. Lower my meat intake to 150g per meal isntead of 200g+ will try some baking soda on empty stomach and no more high intensity exercise. Only low intensity cardio which is actually good for alkaline the body with oxygenation..

Be careful, @jiri, once I went too far with baking soda, and my gut felt like crap for a day or two.  Instead, I do like to make quickbreads and muffins and you can use baking soda as the leavener, and that never backfires!    I'm pretty sure someone around here once said that baking soda can deplete b vities tho.

@lil-chick I was using baking soda for baking, but I feel like I digest that food badly when there is baking soda.. I will take small amount like half a tsp away from food nothing crazy..

Acid/alkaline dietary theory is nonsense...

@tim-2 I agree the alkaline body theory is probably bunk, and when people are seeing inflammation it is probably much more because they have VA overload, not because their PH balance is off due to not enough veggies.  I do feel that we probably need all the minerals (similar to the way they are in the ocean), but in teeny tiny amounts.

Blood PH is always tightly balanced.

Heh of course but that doesn't mean that your tissues are not out of balance.. It's like saying minerals in the blood are tightly balanced. That doesn't mean that your are not deficient or toxic in tissues.. By what is pH balanced? By acids and alkaline things like alkaline minerals, bicarbonate etc.. By oxygen vs CO2 etc.. So obviously if you run out of things that neutralize acids and balance pH you will run into a problems. pH of the urine is good measuring tool. Urine should have the lowest pH in the morning like 6.5 and the highest at night like 7. someting. Most people have much more acidic urine. It's hard on the kidneys. Plenty of people healed their kidneys with biking soda..

I'am not sure if baking soda is totally harmless

Once i saw the research that baking soda resulted in less creatinine but slightly more proteinuria on a course of like 6..12 months

After A-as-steroid withdrawal it is expected for the immune system to kick in for a period of months/years (-> more acidicity) until the chronic infections previously hidden/masked by A are totally resolved.

Doubt healthy person will suffer from acidicity on a meat+rice diet, heck he/she does not have much of it even on a meat alone...
